Enviro-Safe Foam Insulation

They are very down to earth, personable, and easy to talk to.. They took exact measurements and provided me with a precise quote. They are still working on my home. I recommend Enviro-Safe Foam Insulation to others.

This insulation project was completely botched by this contractor leaving me with a poorly insulated addition and no easy way to correct the problems. The contractor blames me for many of the problems and would not offer to correct any of them. Highlights: - No less than 10 yards of cut foam scraps were left behind for me to deal with. Picture a garage bay filled waist deep with bags of foam insulation. - Tools ruined by spray foam overspray. They took little care to protect my property from damage. - Foam overspray ruined an entire wall of drywall that now need to be removed and replaced. - Foam overspray on vinyl siding (requires replacement, the foam cannot be removed) - Used a product which they have trouble working with and not what was quoted. When I asked them to stop and get the correct product they refused. - Installer requested an additional day to do the work, but the boss told him he had to finish in 1.5 days. - The finished installation had so many air leaks and poorly insulated areas that I had to bring in an energy auditor to identify all the problems with an infrared camera. It failed inspection due to excessively thin insulation in many areas (under 2"). - Very strong chemical odor left behind that lingers a month after the installation due to improper ventilation of the area during and after spraying (this is according to the Demilec rep) - Not a licensed HIC. The original quote was for Icynene foam insulation with a Demilec foam installed in the walls due to it's higher R value. When they arrived they had only Demilec foam which, as it turns out, their installer has trouble working with. The problem they were having with this foam (Demilec Sealection Agribalance) is that as it cures, it was pulling away from the framing. There were gaps between the foam and wall studs that ran all the way back to the sheathing. This negates the major benefit of spray foam (air sealing). I later found that there are areas where the foam has also pulled away from the exterior sheathing. The insulation was also supposed to fully air seal and insulate the attic area. This area is the major source of problems with lots of framing still exposed and about 20 air leaks identified and patched so far. Also any blind areas were covered over with foam but not filled. At the end of the job, the contractor tried to increase my bill due to additional areas that were sprayed, but was unwilling to adjust for areas that were skipped (some I requested and some areas they skipped on their own decision). I now need to bring in another contractor to try and deal with the roof areas and the project has been set back at least a month. I would not let this contractor back in even if they were willing to stand behind their work (which they are not).
