I have used them once before and they are excellent. Dave is the person whom you communicate with. They use 2 guys. This is not a lot so it takes a bit longer. However, they are very professional, do their job. They charge by the job, not the hours it takes. They have never broken or scratched anything of mine in 2 long-distance moves. They do not stop and take breaks but keep on working until the job is done. I had them pack up a few things that were more valuable and they did fine. There was an issue with the person whom they hired to ship my car. Dave "stepped up" and dealt with the issue and straightened it out. I did not have to get in the middle or get involved at all. When they give you a time, they are on time and do not deviate. They are great. I would definitely use them again.

Excellent company to work with. They moved the furniture from several rooms to one area and then returned a week later to move it back after the floors were done. They were on time and finished within the time they estimated. They were very professional and considerate. They took great care to avoid damaging anything, They moved an incredible amount of stuff in a short period of time. They clearly were very experienced and took pride in their work.

I highly recommend Roadrunner as a mover. I found them on Angie?s List. They were consummate professionals from assessing our moving needs to moving our belongings. I was also impressed with their focus on value, as Roadrunner provided various options to secure packing boxes & materials to explaining what long term storage opportunities were available in the Boston area. The moving team was friendly, polite, and thorough during move day. They asked for direction when needed and kept the job on time. The moving time was estimated accurately as well. Overall, it was a job well done and we look forward to using Roadrunner again when we find our new home!

Description of Work: They moved me out of 400 square feet into 860 square feet. It took them a long time to pack up my apartment, which was dense with stuff. I appreciated them taking the time to help with the packing. The move included going up three flights of stairs with no elevator.

the whole team was friendly and did everything to make our move easy and painless. this was the first time i have moved residences using a moving company, and now i think i might never move myself again!
Description of Work: they came and moved our 2bd apartment across town. first martin came through and gave us an estimate of how long it would take, and a week before the move they dropped off a whole set of boxes and tape and bubble wrap. prior to the move, we boxed up all of our belongings and took apart our beds, and used wardrobe boxes to transport all of our hanging clothes and jackets. the three person team made quick work of all of our boxes, as well as wrapping and protecting all of our chairs and furniture, even going as far as removing the light bulbs before transporting our lamps. this gave us the time to do our sweep clean at the same time as the move so we didn't have to come once we finished. on the unloading end, they were very fast as well. carefully moving everything from the truck and unwrapping our belongings where we wanted them.

Roadrunner is definitely, by far, the best company I've encountered. Their work ethic is stellar. The movers are friendly and fast and they answered all of my questions in a timely manner. Dave is extremely friendly, outgoing and responsive and he makes you feel like your belongings are in capable hands. We had an incident that this company rectified in record time. They went way beyond the call in fixing the situation. I feel like we came out ahead in the end, not just compensated. I cannot say enough good things about this company. I tell all my friends about them and everyone is amazed at what a great job they do and what a great company it is. I will hire them for every move I make in the future. They deserve all the awards they have won and more.

This is the second move Roadrunner performed for us. Once again Roadrunner came in on budget, on time and with wonderful service throughout. The price for the move to Arizona was very reasonable and the move was completed within our time frames ? not under timing dictated by the moving company (an experience with had with another inter-state mover some years ago that really threw a wrench into our plans). Bottom line, these guys deliver value and quality at a reasonable price. We?ve hired them twice and we?d hire them again!

This past summer (Aug/Sept. 09), I was looking for a company to perform an interstate move for me ? from Maynard, MA to Fayetteville, NC. I wanted a company that would send a crew to put my stuff on the truck in Maynard and have the same team travel with it all the way without any ?relaying?, no truck changes or stopovers, and deliver it in Fayetteville. I wanted a company that would offer packing services if I needed it, and I wanted a company that would treat my belongings as their own. And I wanted all that service at a reasonable cost. After much internet research and reading of reviews, I chose three companies as ?possibles? and called each of them to get a quote. Roadrunner was the second company to come to my home to give me an estimate. Dave was very professional and personable and had a good sense of humor. It was obvious that he?d been in the moving business for a long time, and it only took him a quick look at my things to give me an estimate of costs for the move. He assured me that the same team would load, travel with and deliver my belongings at the end, and I trusted that he was telling me the truth. I was going to try to do as much of the packing as possible, but I told Dave that I might need to have the guys help with some boxes at the end if it turned out that I was unable to accomplish everything that I hoped. I was going to leave the most fragile items for them anyway -- I have some collectibles that I wanted handled gently ? I wanted them to be responsible for any breakage or damage. Dave recommended that I insure those things and I agreed that was best. Dave assured me that they would take care of everything, and he would make sure that the guys brought boxes and packing material with them on moving day just in case. We then talked about the scheduling of the move. I was concerned that the guys would arrive in NC before I did, so I outlined my plan for getting there -- I was going to drive down with a friend; we would leave Maynard on September 24th, take three days to drive to NC, arriving in Fayetteville on the 26th. I would stay in a hotel for 2 nights and the guys could deliver on the 28th. Dave assured me that it would work out fine. Then we talked about the quote itself, and Dave assured me that he always tried to estimate high rather than low so there would be no surprises at the end. After getting the quote from the last mover, I decided to go with Roadrunner, based on Dave?s professionalism and all the assurances that he gave me. As you?ll see later, most of these assurances didn?t stand up very well. Wednesday, September 23 ? moving day ? rolled around much quicker than I wanted it to. But the guys (4 of them) arrived promptly at the scheduled time and got right to work. There was quite a bit of packing left for them to do, but in three hours, they had everything in boxes and the truck loaded. For the moment, I was extremely satisfied. Fast forward to Sunday, the 27th. Dave had told me that the guys would be in touch with me as they went along, particularly as they got closer to Fayetteville. On Sunday, some guy named Danny (who I hadn?t met) called me to say that he was my driver and asked when I was expecting delivery. I told him tomorrow. He said, well, I don?t know if that?s possible. I said well, that?s what I was promised and that?s what I?m expecting. He said he would get back to me. When the whole day went by without further word from Danny, I called Dave in a panic. I wanted to know what was going on, who Danny was, and if my belongings were going to arrive on the scheduled day. I told him if not, then I?ll have to book the hotel room for another night. Dave said well, I?m not working today, this is actually my day off, so let me make some calls and find out what?s going on. He called me back in a little while, and explained that one of the guys had gotten sick in NY, and they had to turn the job over to someone else ? Danny -- but that he would be there as promised. So, the first assurance that I got about the same team picking up and delivering was out the window. The second assurance about scheduling and promptness was about to go down in flames as well. Danny called me from the road a couple of times on Monday to say that he was getting close, but probably wouldn?t arrive until mid-afternoon. That was much later than I had planned, and I was not happy, but there wasn?t much I could do but wait. He finally called around 3:00 Monday afternoon to say he had finally arrived in Fayetteville and that he was going to pick up a helper and would see me shortly. I said fine. About half an hour later, the truck pulled up outside my apartment building. Only 2 guys this time ? neither of whom was on the original team that left from Maynard. Again, I was not happy. I knew right then that it was going to be a long night. My first inclination was to help unload the truck, just to get the job done quicker, since it was already so late in the day, but I said no, this is what I?m paying them for. So, all I did was supervise and tell them where to place the furniture. Finally, four hours later, everything was in the house. And here?s where the assurance about accurateness of the estimate was about to explode, too. Danny and I sat down to tally up the totals ? packing material and boxes, labor, etc., etc., etc., the charges seemed to go on forever. At the end of it, I was told I owed them an additional $800.00 over the estimate that I had been given !!! I was shocked and horrified, but had no recourse other than to pull out my credit card and bite the bullet. So, would I hire Roadrunner again ?? Well, since I don?t live in Massachusetts anymore, it?s not an issue. However, if I did, would I use them again ? Probably not. I will say that the guys did a wonderful packing job in Maynard ? they worked really well as a team and did their jobs quickly, efficiently, and professionally. Danny and his helper also did an excellent job of unloading in Fayetteville. It was obvious that Danny has been a mover for a very long time, and knows exactly how to carry and move things. All my belongings arrived in perfect condition ? nothing got broken or damaged in any way. The guys even assembled my bed for me and moved the furniture around to exactly where I wanted it. I will give everyone at Roadrunner credit for being professional. Everyone I met knew exactly what needed to be done. Either the company hires good, experienced people, or if not, at least they train them very well. So, for service and quality, they get good marks. However, I felt cheated and robbed on the quote, and for that, I would not recommend Roadrunner to anyone else.

When I called for the estimate, Dave provided me with clear details about what I could expect from them as well as helpful general information for our move (information about parking permits, tips for obtaining cheaper boxes, etc.). In the days leading up to the move, Dave was very responsive to my emailed questions. The movers arrived right on time and began work immediately. They all introduced themselves and were extremely personable and nice. They were also really strong and very careful with our stuff. It was a big job. The company planned to send four movers but were unable to because of staff illnesses. The three guys worked really hard from 8:15 - 6:15. At the end of the day, we had some confusion about the rate because of the 4 movers compared to 3 movers thing, and they had no problem with letting me speak to Dave on the phone the next day before even taking my credit card number. We really appreciated that level of trust, especially considering that the company does not even take a deposit or a credit card number in advance. We were extremely pleased with the level of service provided and recommend Roadrunner without reservation. In fact, we're moving into a house in six months and will be using Roadrunner again.
Description of Work: We moved from a two-bedroom apartment in a 4th floor walk-up building to a one-bedroom apartment in an elevator building five miles away. We packed our boxes ourselves. We have some pieces of large heavy furniture, including a sleeper sofa, a king-size bed that had to be taken apart and reassembled, and a heavy Tempur-pedic mattress. Some of our furniture and boxes had to be put into storage units in the new building.

They were polite, diligent, worked hard and were careful with our stuffs. The only complaint I had was that they were supposed to start their work by 9 AM but something else came along and they ended up starting their work around 2 PM. That became a bit problem, as we had a little daughter who needed to go to bed. Overall, I thought they did a great job.

They gave me a sound estimate before I knew where I would be moving. After I had found a condo, they wre very accomodating about finishing any packing that I could not do, storing my things overnight, and delivering them after I had closed on selling the house and buying the condo the next day. The main problems, described below, were that they arrived late on the first day, though they apologized and were very punctual after that, and they had not anticipated the look of the condo with its many stairs, which added to the time and arduous nature of the move. Through it all, the men were pleasant and very hard-working.

Flawless moving from Boston to DC. They came when they promised, they packed within the estimated time frame, they delivered in DC early!. They carefully placed every box and item in the places I requested. They also also recycled for me, returning to DC to pick up the empty boxes and use them for others. Excellent service!
Description of Work: Professional team worked to pack, carry and deliver every item. All items were numbered and recorded so we could check if something might be misplaced. Nothing was. Danny headed the moving team. He was excellent! He supervised the packing and made sure the team was providing the highest quality of service. He helped me make decisions, gave me good advice about specfici packing and unloading issues. He was superb. So was Paul and other members of the team.

I had to move long distance, from Boston to SC and heard nightmares about long distance movers. I found Roadrunner and was absolutely blown away by their professionalism from start to finish. They told me if the truck weighed less than the original estimate they'd lower my cost, who ever expects a mover to be that honest but they were! My move cost over $300 less than I originally thought. They took apart my computers and complex phone systems and when I unpacked I found cords taped to appropriate systems, marked as to what they went with. The moved my things into storage and stocked them more organized than I ever could. Terrence and the others that moved me were incredibly kind and professional and handled my things like they were their own. They showed up 3 days later, actually earlier than originally quoted when every other mover quoted up to 10 days they arrived in just less than three. Moving is so stressful, I can't say enough about them. In fact, I trust them so much my next move will be coordinated around their schedule because I just don't want to trust my home to anyone else...

From start to finish, the entire experience with Roadrunner was fantastic. Dave came out to our place to get a feel for the number of boxes and pieces of furniture we had, and gave us an estimate. The estimate came with a price cap and a guarantee that the price would not be higher than that. He told me that the move would take about 10 hours - we thought he was crazy but he was dead-on! On the day of the move, the crew showed up at exactly 9am as planned, and was courteous, professional, and fun to work with. They barely took time off for lunch. We had a very narrow staircase at our apartment and inevitably, our gas dryer's igniter was damaged. Upon connecting the dryer at our new home and discovering the issue, we contacted Dave. Not only did he respond to our issue the same day, but he continued to request updates on the repair while we were not online and available to answer email. We finally faxed Dave a copy of the repair receipt and within days we were refunded the full cost. Roadrunner is a well-run business that cares about doing a good job for its customers, and we would definitely use their services again and/or recommend them to our friends. Moving is never an easy experience and yet Dave and the crew made it look easy. Thanks guys! Sarah and Wayne Randolph, MA

Even though no one likes to move, it was an incredibly positive experience. From the first contact with the company to the final unloading at the destination, the professionalism and competency each employee exemplified was exceptional. Wonderful. From the arrival of Dave Mareira to do an estimate to the last item off the truck, the experience with this company was nothing less than stellar. Dave knows his stuff, and is very funny to boot. He knows that moving is as much an emotional experience as a logistical one, and he does everything to provide completely information and support, is extremely understanding of frayed nerves, is generous and willing to help in every way. This company is local to Boston. Unlike the big movers, it do not use shuttles, depots, and 18-wheelers. Goods are handled twice: once at pick up, and once at delivery at the destination. The moving guys were pros and and did a wonderful job. We left snacks and drinks for them, and after they started work, headed for North Carolina, trusting them to clean up, dispose of trash, and leave the keys under the door. They did. Terence, the head mover, could not have been more of a pleasure to work with, extremely conscientious, and kept us advised of their progress as we traveled south. Everything arrived without a scratch exactly at the time promise, and they were more than obliging in places items where we wanted them. Astonishingly, there was no charge for driving an empty truck with two employees back to Boston. No hidden fees or extras. The not-to-exceed estimate was exactly on the money. Roadrunner was $2500 - $5,000 dollars below the estimates of their principal Boston competitor and a major, well thought of national moving company. Yet you could not ask for more from a moving company.

We couldn't have been happier with the service provided by the team from Roadrunner. From the very start with Dave visiting our house and providing us with a detailed estimate, to putting our furniture just where we wanted it at the other end of the move everything was done superbly. In his estimate Dave provided us with several options for packing. We elected to do most of the packing ourselves and left the fragile items for the Roadrunner team to pack. And a team they are. I was packing non-fragile items along side the crew from Roadrunner. They clearly have worked together for a long time, enjoy the work, enjoy working together and take great pride in the quality of their work. That same attitude was evident as they loaded, and then unloaded the trucks and moved us into our new house. The entire move was accomplished in the time frame promised by Dave, and without a single item damaged or scratched. The team from Roadrunner truly treated our belongings as though they were their own. Based on this fantastic experience we know who we will use for our next move - Roadrunner.
Description of Work: Packing of all fragile items (including kitchen and dining room) and move from Needham to Grafton.
