Description of Work: We stayed within Arlington, moving only about 1/2 mile. Dave helped me see what I could pack myself to cut down on costs and walked me through where I should buy packing materials or try to get them for free. They packed the kitchen, and we moved the basement ourselves as well as packed the rest of the house.

Overall, they were very professional and pleasant . Arrived on time and were very careful with everything, including the china and glassware. wrapping every piece individually.
Description of Work: I was having new flooring put down in the living/diningroom, All furniture had to be removed. They did a great job of packing everything up, including emptying two china cabinets. Wrapped up all the furniture with padding, and were able to store it all in the basement and garage, thus preventing a move to storage.

We got a very fast response as we asked for an estimate, with lots of answering of questions via email. Then they suggested an on-site review and scheduled it quickly. They gentleman who came to do the estimate was calm, clear, professional. Even when I called back a week later to clarify if the quote was a 'does not exceed' quote, the person on the phone was easygoing & professional. We ultimately went with a smaller, family-run operation that could give us a DNE quote that was half of Roadrunners, but they definitely can handle complexity & I was impressed overall.
Description of Work: I contacted them as part of doing comparison shopping for a mover from Lynn to Roslindale. We exchanged multiple emails, phone calls, and then an onsite estimate. We did not choose them as our mover due to better cost elsewhere.

We were moving from Boston to Brooklyn. Dave, the estimator, assured me that the movers would be there as early as possible the next day in Brooklyn. We made arrangements to rent a car and a place to stay in NYC the night of the pick up so we would definetly be there the morning of the move-in. That seemed great - we wanted to have a full day to unpack. We were moving our cat and young daughter too, so the sooner we were in the better for all of us. Problem 1 - the movers were late by about a half hour (said they would be there between 12 and 2 - got there at 2:30. Started at 3). This doesn't seem like a big deal, but I have a feeling that if I hadn't called to find out where they were they may have been a lot later. We were planning on driving to NYC the night before (made arrangements and everything), but because the movers were not done packing up the truck until 6PM, we did not feel comfortable making the trip that night. The head mover said that they were staying overnight in the NYC area and would be there between 9 and 12 the next day, depending on traffic. So we stayed in Providence that night, got up at 3AM (a trick with a baby and cat) and drove like h*** to Brooklyn. We got there at 8, unpacked the car, and waited. They called at 9:15 to tell me they were leaving Stamford, CT. At 11AM they said they were a half hour away. They ended up arriving at 1PM because they had trouble navigating the highways with the truck clearance. They also called to get directions when they were only about a half mile away. This was frustrating. The actual move out and in was basically uneventful. the team was friendly, very hard working and very helpful. Problem 2: They wrapped our furniture well (or so it seemed) and only broke glass on one framed picture which they offered to fix for us. But when they arrived in Brooklyn, they told us that we would have to take care of the replacement and gave us $50 off for the glass. When you have a kid, just moved to a new city- this sort of thing is really really frustrating, especially after they offered to fix it. Problem 3: While unpacking, I realized why the materials cost for packing the fragile items was so high. Items were packed in both bubble wrap AND paper, something that was completely unnecessary. Then when I was putting these fragile items into our antique china cabinet it became clear that the door hinge on the bottom piece was bent so the door doesn't shut and the top cabinet was attached incorrectly (off center). Again, this was frustrating because I had unpacked about half our china into the cabinet already. I used a local NY company to move me up to Boston and experienced none of these problems. The estimate was on target, the movers were on time and nothing broke when we moved North. If I move up to Boston again I will go back to this company rather than use Road Runner again. If we were moving within Boston, I'd go with a different company... I didn't want to write this review because I wanted to love RoadRunner. But they let me down enough to not whole heartedly recommend them.
Description of Work: Roadrunner moved us from a second story walk up in Boston to an apartment on the 6th floor of an elevator building in Brooklyn. Overall, I enjoyed working with RoadRunner. But the move itself was not fun. They are a good company, very responsive to concerns prior to the move and were the only company to respond to my request for estimate! The estimator Dave was great - explained everything very well and made the move seem like it would go really smoothly... which is sort of did. Out estimate was spot on although the fragile packing was more than we bargained for.

Martin came out and gave us an estimate, and then discussed with me how we could reduce our costs. He pointed out which items would be awkward or fragile to move, and explained that the crew would take extra time and care in moving them. But, he said, if we packed and transported those items ourselves, we'd save money. He also suggested having signs on the door to each room, saying what the room was and what was going into it. He suggested drawing a (very) rough map of the room, showing where the furniture goes, so that the crew can work quickly, continuously, and accurately. We followed his advice, and spent a couple of weeks moving the fragile items, plants, etc, mapping the rooms - and saved $700! Martin also asked about our children, and we talked about how his crew interacts with children, and helps them feel involved in the move - if that's what the children (and parents) want. He had a very thoughtful, humane way of thinking about the move, and I appreciated that. The team that came out was friendly, worked quickly and efficiently. Our house was empty by 11am, and we were in our new home by 2:30. The tables that my grandfather built were handled gently, as were the chairs that he made. The team helped us figure out how to organize things in a tricky basement., showed the kids how things get stashed in their truck, and just made the move a pleasure. When they left, my kids were standing on the side of the street, waving good-bye. Well done, Roadrunner! You almost make me want to move again.

We moved from Somerville, MA to Cherry Hill, NJ and would highly recommend this company to anyone. They had the perfect mix of professionalism but were also down to earth. Dave was a great sales guy (I guess he's a part owner) and made me feel very comfortable with the process. He offered a lot of great moving tips. We then pushed our moving date a few times, but they were very accommodating and didn't complain. Finally, the day before the move, they came to help pack and even though my wife had a small panic attack, they were amazingly understanding and professional. No attitude about our nerves. The first day Paul and Joe were the main packers, and they really set our mind at ease. They worked fast and showed great skill packing up our stuff. It showed when we unpacked. They were really understanding about us changing our minds regarding one thing or another. It made a big difference since I find moving reduces my brain capacity by 40%, so I have a harder time making decisions. On moving day, a team of 4 arrived with Paul, Joe, Rob, and Peter. Again, they did a great job. We had more stuff then the movers had anticipated, but they stuck to their word with the estimate. They also filled the truck (literally) top to bottom, front to back. Very impressive. And not only was it packed, but none of our stuff got damaged (as far as well can tell since we're not fully unpacked). We drove down to our new house and met them the next morning. Rob and Peter spent the day unloading. They were very skillful and careful with our stuff. That was one thing I should mention; they packed and transported all of our furniture very carefully. They also reassembled everything they had disassembled. All in all we were very happy with Roadrunner and would use them again in a second.

Roadrunner was fantastic, beginning to end. They were the most responsive right up front, they responded back immediately via email and kept up their quick responses throughout the entire process. The movers showed up on time, were friendly, professional, clean and respectful. All our belongings were well taken care of and returned in just as good condition. The cost of the move was exactly what was quoted to me up front. This was an A+ experience, I wholeheartedly recommend Roadrunner Moving and Storage.

See above. Excellent throughout!
Description of Work: Roadrunner gave me an estimate for my move, which I compared with 3 other estimates. I chose them based on their price and presentation. Dave and his crew packed up my home in MA and delivered everything in perfect condition to my new home in Florida where they unpacked everything, except for boxes. All furniture was well protected, as was my china and crystal, and large screen tv. All Roadrunner employees involved with this move in MA and FL were professional, efficient, punctual, personable and most helpful. All were willing to go above and beyond to give excellent service. I would definitely use them again and recommend them most highly. KN

My first experience with a moving company was a disappointing one. We hired Roadrunner to help make a stressful event (moving into our first home) easier, but instead the stress level went through the roof. Within the first few minutes of the move, one of the guys placed a cardboard box on top of our dining room table and slid it off and onto his back, scratching the tabletop in the process. I pointed this out to the supervisor who told me that they would take are of the table. However, I no longer trusted this particular mover, so I had to watch him like a hawk for the rest of the move. At one point I had to ask him to only carry as single chair at a time after he dinged a wall while trying to get two chairs at once through a doorway. Roadrunner took the damage table and fixed it for us, so I will give them credit for that. However, we hired professionals because they are supposed to know that you can't slide cardboard boxes across wood surfaces (or any for that matter). Maybe it was one bad apple, but I cannot recommend them. I now look at every nick and scratch on our furniture and wonder if it was damaged during the move. This may be unfair, but it was their actions that planted the seed of doubt in my mind.

The move went better than I ever thought it could. Moving is stressful and they made it a great experience.
Description of Work: Raodrunner was one of three moving companies I contacted for an estimate to move. They got back to me quickly and I was able to secure the estimate in a timely way. The estimate was thorough and practical and the cost was in the middle of the pack, so I went with them. Their confirmation information was helpful in setting my exepctations. They confirmed the move a week ahead of the move and one business day as well. I really appreciated the proactive communication via phone and email. On move day, the movers showed up right on time - with an extra guy. They did tell me it would cost slightly more, but the work would get done faster and thus net out. The team spread out and got right down to work. They asked questions when needed, but clearly knew what they were doing and had a plan of attack. They were careful and efficient, wrapping furniture and moving it quickly. It was pretty amazing how fast they were able to unpack the trucks. It was a godo thing I had friends with me to help direct at the other end as they got the work done so fast I would not have been able to keep pace on my own. The team had me moved to the new house (which was only 4 miles away) in about 5 hours. Amazing! I would use Roadrunner again and 100% recommend them.

WARNING - when everything goes great thats good but it is what they do when things go horribly wrong that tells you what kind of company they are. This company obviously has many good days but our job was one that turned into a huge fiasco which we are still paying for. We have waited a month to write this but after repeatedly going back to our storage unit and seeing what terrible shape things are in we think others can benefit from our story. The job was to move from Brookline, MA to the Florida Keys. David came over, was very nice and looked over everything and was very confident in his company and mentioned the positive reviews. As anyone who has ever moved long distance knows the timing of the move is very important. When they came to pack the first day and only spent 3 hours we were a little surprised. The agreement was that they would be completely done by 3:00 the second dayso I could take care of all my business before flying to Florida the next morning for good. When it got to be 1:00 and the first truck was not 1/2 full I called David at Roadrunners. He was hard to find but told me he would try to find some people and another truck. I did not hear back from him for a while so I called my husband in Florida who was in the Keys already. He had been involved in the trucking industry for 30 years. He found out who the owner of the company was - there were 2 - and he called one of them who said he had knew nothing about the job. My husband said if the owner did not find out what was going on with the move my husband would get on a plane and fly up. After many repeated calls and excuses by both owners ( "couldn't tell how much stuff we had", "you have 5.1 times more than the average household"). They just did not want to accept responsibility for leaving us hanging. Finally, at 8:00, 5 hours after they were supposed to be finished they were done. This move was 80% boxes. Once in Florida, as they unloaded the first truck several things became apparent. One was that the movers were deadbeat tired. The boxes were labeled with up arrows, fragile, do not stack under anything in bright colors but they came out pushed down like an accordion because alot of fragile things were stacked underneath heavier stuff. After the first day they said to call them 30 minutes before we would be at the storage facility and they would be there. We called them the next morning 1 and 1/2 hours before we would be there to let them know when we would be there. They showed up 1/2 hour late because they had to stop for breakfast while we waited in the 80 degree sun. The second thing that was odd was that the first truck that was unloaded and on its way back its driver kept calling our driver and we overheard him saying "When that light comes on you just have to pull the truck over and wait until its better and then you can drive on. Don't you know that about that truck? That happened to us all the way down". It sounded like they treat the equipment and their people the same way, very poorly. As tired as the movers were the first day, the second day they were even more tired. This is the classic case where the television show that brings the CEO in as a worker and sees how poorly they are treating their people and their equipment would benefit them.We want to emphasize that the driver and the unpacker were very conscientous, nice people but it was obvious they were very tired and that is why our things did not get put into storage correctly. Our best flat panel TV just got shoved in at the end not even fully wrapped. It is things like this that shows us how poorly these 2 owners run their company.

I moved from Massachusetts to New Orleans and researched reviews and pricing from many sources. Roadrunner came out on top everywhere on the web. There were a couple places that were cheaper but I know I wouldn't have had the personalized care and attention with the others .Three movers showed up at my storage unit in the rain. They were cheerful and efficient and had everything gently put on the truck in record time. There were a few last minute things I had haphazardly thrown in boxes and they repacked. Everything was bubble wrapped before they got there but they added more protection for the long ride ahead. They gave an estimated delivery time which I calculated to be a Monday I received a call on Saturday asking if I would be available the next day for delivery. Palo delivered the small load alone and had no trouble getting everything transferred from the truck to my new apt in under an hour despite the New Orleans heat. I felt completely comfortable having him in my home and he even insisted on carrying boxes to their specific rooms rather than leaving them in a front room as I offered. I cannot say enough about the professionalism and integrity of this company

Roadrunner was an absolute pleasure to work with. They came to the condo to take inventory and give their original estimate, which we ended up on the low end of, which is a very pleasant surprise! They were flexible working towards getting the moving/packing dates set as we were waiting for a number of things to fall in place. They were responsive and on time throughout. The packing went amazingly well. Not only is nothing broken/lost, it took 3 guys a lot less time to pack a family of 3 than it took 2 guys to pack me solo when i first moved to Boston. They were efficient and careful and very very fast. Moving day was amazing as well. The staff could not have been more professional, polite and considerate. They finished packing the last of our things, packed the truck and had us unloaded all by 5pm. While moving into the new house, we ran into a problem trying to get our boxspring up the stairs and they gave us the option to cut it which we didn't think would work. Well, we went for it, figuring we'd need to toss the boxspring regardless and it worked like a charm. Despite the cut, the boxspring is intact and upstairs where it belongs. While i hope to not need them any time soon, I would very happily recommend Roadrunner for any move.

I had to change the move time which was no problem. The crew arrived exactly at the time I had been given. They briefly surveyed the house and then got to work right away. Boxes were put on the truck first. This did not take long and was done extremely efficiently. Furniture was next and they took great care to protect everything from damage. The crew (Jason, Joe, Paul) worked extremely well together and individually. They were friendly, professional, and gave us some tips on moving the stuff we were moving ourselves. They went straight to the new apartment and began unloading right away - there was no down time from start to finish. Everything arrived in perfect condition and was assembled where and how I wanted it to be. There was no cleanup necessary after they left. I thought the cost of the move was fair and it fell within the estimate I had been given. I have moved three times in the past four years and have used a different moving company for each move. Roadrunner was by far the best experience and the only company I'll use from now on!

Hi Member, Thanks for your feedback..... Feel free to ring me about the box prices. We display all our pricing on our website and include all material charges up front with every estimate. Our box prices cannot beat Lowe's but remain typically 15% less than competitive movers and storage facilities. You can reach me at the office anytime, Thanks, Dave

Excellent. Paulo and his team of two others came right on time in the morning to the first location. Professional, efficient - and they were done packing up my 300sf office in about 45 minutes. They came to the second location at our home, assessed the place and started to move quickly. We had more things than they anticipated and they called in for reinforcements - two more guys with a truck came in the middle of the day. I fed them sandwiches and cookies on my time and dime because they were so hard-working. Their attitudes were excellent and pleasant. After packing up, they came to the new location quickly and started to unload. They faced some difficult challenges such as heavy flat files to the third floor, lifting a box spring through a window on the second floor, and tons and tons of little boxes everywhere. They finished in about 6-7 hours of very hard work. We didn't find a single broken thing. I panicked after a couple of days when I couldn't find a Dewalt drill. Knowing that it would be unintentional, but perhaps our tools got mixed up with their tools in the truck, I called the office asking if they saw it around. The office was extremely attentive and concerned, searched the trucks, asked the crew, and got back to me several times throughout the week and followed up weeks after to see if things had turned up. I found the tools amongst the many unpacked boxes weeks later and they were very sweet about the inconvenience of me just not being oriented. All in all, excellence everywhere. We couldn't have done the move without them. The prices were well worth it and cheaper than some other quotes. The only criticism would be that their emails tend to be full of distracting ads and links and stuff, with different fonts going on shouting about their business. I think that they would do well on referrals alone, they were great.
Description of Work: Roadrunner moved us from a 2-bedroom apartment in Somerville plus an office space in another location in Somerville to a house in Medford. We packed most everything, they came and took everything into their trucks and unloaded it all in various places around the new house.

After having helped my daughter and her husband move their belongings from their apartment to a storage facility while awaiting their new apartment to be vacated, we decided that the next move would be done by a moving company. After checking Angies list, and calling 3 companies, I decided to go with Roadrunner based on members comments and my conversation with Dave from the main office, who was most pleasant. On the day of the move, Terence, the foreman of the crew, called to let me know that they were leaving their base and what time they would be arriving. The entire crew of 4 men, Terence, Joe, Tony and Mike, worked quickly and carefully and got everything done in a professional and pleasant manner. The final bill was less than the estimate, and that was a pleasant extra surprise. We would definitly use them again. It was a painless move.
Description of Work: Roadrunner moved all the items from a 2 bedroom apartment, that had been put into 2 storage units, to a new apartment that was on the second floor of a home.

It went extremely well. The movers arrived promptly. They were courteous, efficient, friendly, and professional. The move was for my mother, 88 years old, and she was very anxious about it. The movers were so nice that they made her feel relaxed and calm. Everything was done on time, communications with the home office and with the moving team was smooth and easy, and everything arrived in fine condition. The movers took the time to help me set up my mom's new apartment so that it looked like home to her when she arrived. We were very happy with the entire experience.

Good Day Member, THANKS for writing in. You did a great job organzizing your Mom and preparinig her for the move. THIS IS one of the most difficult moves for folks, as the emotional end of moving is often overlooked as one of the MOST important parts of our business. We ARE lucky to have the guys we do as a large part of our business is helping folks like you, help their parents transition to this new "chapter." I know first hand that transitioning an elderly family member is difficult and exhausting. CONGRATS on keeping your humor. Bets Regards, Dave (PS: I will print for the guys----as they enjoyed working with you!)

Another happy customer! These fellows were the best from start to finish. They packed up our home with care - even though an illness prevented us from doing any of the packing we had planned to do in advance. They worked nonstop, always making sure that items were packed as we wanted. The move went as smoothly as possible. The home we moved into had not been vacated, and they had to rearrange furniture and boxes multiple times. All of this was done cheerfully, even after 10 hours of work! We are still unpacking, and I am amazed at the skill that went into packing the boxes. I found 10 year old Easter eggs that I did not know that I still had - in perfect condition. I recommend them without reservation. The price was great too, and they managed to come in just under the estimate. We will definitely use them again (but hopefully no time soon).

This is the fourth time I have used Roadrunner Moving. They were excellent each and every time. Their movers are true "professionals". They are prompt, courteous and genuinely want to make your move as pleasant and smooth as possible. For this move we had Robert and Danny who were fantastic. They were within one minute of the estimated arrival time, calling me twice to update their status. They placed everything where I wanted it and also double-checked that everything was to my satisfaction. Roadrunner is my mover of choice, always doing an outstanding job for a reasonable price.
Description of Work: Roadrunner moved my belongings from my condo in the city to a storage unit, then three months later from the storage unit to my new home in the South. They also packed some items in the storage unit.
