I called Gary to set up a pool closing after the company I had been using abruptly quit. | | His pricing was competitive and the job was done efficiently. Also, he provided a fairly simple solution to an ongoing leakage problem that I'd been having with the pool. | |I've contracted with him to open and close the pool next season.

Gary basically brought my pool back from pool h*** where it was left by a prior pool service. The prior pool service started the project of painting my pool, used the wrong primer, went AWOL in the middle of the job and left me with an empty pool with the wrong primer on 3/4 of the pool at the beginning of the pool season. I found Gary in the parking lot of a retail pool supply store and begged him to help me. He said he would but could not guarantee how fast he could get it done given it was the begnning of the season and he had all his regular accounts. He had NO idea what he was getting into! He was the one who showed me how messed up the pool was with the wrong primer. To fix it, it required getting a heavy duty sandblaster (which he kindly bartered/borrowed from a friend to try to help me save money) and blasting off all the wrong primer so the correct primer could be applied and the new paint adhere properly. In 90+degree weather, Gary was completely covered in heavy duty gear and protective covering, sandblasting my pool. Despite the fact that this job turned out to be way far more than I had originally proposed to him, he did everything he could to help me and to try to salvage as much of the summer season as possible. I was so thoroughly impressed by his commitment, kindness, competence and determination to do a good job. And he did a superb job. The paint job is excellent and the pool looks great.I would recommend Gary without reservation. He is a quintessential professional. He communicates everything he is doing, shows up when he says he is going to, and goes above and beyond all the time - thinking about how to make things work better, look better etc. He is a gem and if you need help with your pool, he is the person you need to call.
Description of Work: This project involved the following:1. Assessing the damage to my pool caused by previous pool service2. Determining that the previous pool service had applied incorrect primer on rubber based paint that would require removal before the correct primer could be applied so the new epoxy paint would adhere correctly.3. Attempted to power wash / scrape / acid wash the primer4. Determined the only way the wrong primer would come off would be through sandblasting.5. Procured a heavy duty sandblaster, sand, protective gear, etc and proceeded to sandblast the entire pool to remove the primer.6. Power washed the pool.7. Applied the correct primer.8. Applied the new epoxy paint.9. Opened the pool after the paint cured.
