Description of Work: Repaired structural issues with an addition that had been built on pilings approx. 30 years ago. Some of the pilings has deteriorated and some of the wood supports had rotted due to exposure to the weather.

Description of Work: JJ responded very quickly when I called him to have him come down and go over my list of things that needed to be done. He spent a lot of time with me explaining what was done wrong and options to repair things. I was pleased and hopeful since he had done work for my neighbor who was very happy with the outcome. But that's where it ended. Over a period of 3 months, and after numerous attempts, both telephone conversations and email, and promises that he would provide me with an estimate, it never materialized. I last heard from him on Monday, 3/18/2013 when he sent me an email telling me he would draft an estimate for me by Thursday, 3/21/2013. On Thursday, 4/4/2013, I sent him an email saying I'll have to move on if I don't receive an estimate or hear from him. I never received an estimate or heard from him again. It was very disappointing, particularly because he is the contractor of choice for our condo development, and because he did work for my neighbor who was very happy with the outcome.

Description of Work: JJ’s mason Todd repaired the foundation of our garage. JJ also replaced one of the windows in our master bedroom that was cracked. The existing block foundation was deteriorating because of bad blocks and moisture. There were a number of holes in the blocks and cracks in the mortar that were in need of attention. Todd filled in the holes and cracks, applied a base layer of cement/bonding agent and then stuccoed the entire foundation as a base coat.

Description of Work: Mr. Supple came to give an estimate on some work we were considering.

Description of Work: I contacted this company for an estimate to some work that I needed completed to my house. The work was to replace the main beam, joists, footings, etc.

Description of Work: I left a message on Saturday for the company to help fix an issue that is desperate need of repair. I received a phone call back on Tuesday. J.J. promised to have Bobby call me within 24 hours. I explained the urgency of this issue and promised that he'd be back in touch immediately and out to assess the damage. I haven't heard from him since Tuesday... Funny, how he was boasting about is great rating on Angie's List... not one complaint! I will not use him at all after he can't make a phone call like he promised. Very unprofessional. I did speak to my mother and the conversation with Bob took place, HOWEVER, she is the one who had to place the call as neither you nor Bob ever called as promised. Bob told her he'd be out on Thursday and if he couldn't make it he'd call and reschedule. He didn't show up. Haven't heard from him since.

Description of Work: J.J. and his team rescued me from a devil of a project. More than rescued, they have delivered some quality renovation. Previously had a bad, bad contractor who I needed to fire mid project. Winter was coming, a good part of the foundation of the house was exposed, windows were leaking, holes were in the roof. The bad contractor had really fouled up the project, charged too much, lied about what he was doing, was aggressive with my family, did not get the right permits with the city.... way worse stuff too if you can believe it. I found J.J. through Rene Mugnier, a fantastic structural engineer who has helped us with the project. J.J. came in and stabilized the situation before a really trying winter (this was the 2010-2011 winter when we had a lot of snow). His team really quickly removed some of the crappy work from the bad contractor and also quickly stabilized and covered up the exposed part of the building foundation before the snows came. As part of fixing the work of the bad contractor, we found other structural problems with the building that required attention. J.J. and his team were able to repair these structural elements in a quick, cost-efficient manner. When they were there at the house, I was shocked every day when I would come home and see just how much the guys would complete every day. The guys have done work including tearing out drywall, including new structural elements, shoring up and removing lally columns to pour footings underneath them (yeah, the original renovation had no footings under the columns!), repairing and water proofing the foundation, re-doing drywall, painting it all and installing a new floor. They have also done carpentry work including new doors, windows and work on the roof.

Description of Work: Seven of our lally columns in the basement and garage of our 1985-built Tewksbury home had to be replaced per a review done by a structural engineer. They were corroded through, the steel split, and the concrete visible in the bottoms of some of them. Due to a combination of a very high water table and the fact that the original lally columns were cheap and not epoxy coated, they had probably absorbed a lot of water over the years and were rusting from the inside out. There were 3 persons working the first day, JJ and 2 others, and then the work was completed by the 2 employees on the following 2 days, for a total of 3 days. They draped the basement with plastic to prevent a lot of dust covering everything, but the basement was unfinished so what dust did escape was not a big issue. They ventilated the basement well with a large fan to blow dust out the basement door. They installed several temporary posts. The garage columns were epoxy coated completely, while the basement columns were epoxy coated up to about a foot above floor level. They removed the concrete floor around the base of the columns to reach the bottom of each column, which were apparently much deeper then expected (about a foot below the bottom of the concrete floor which JJ said was highly unusual), then removed each old column, installed new epoxy coated columns, and poured new concrete to patch the floor. They swept stuff up, removed all the plastic and left the basement and garage tidy.

Description of Work: I have used Supple Construction for years for my home and business. JJ Supple and his team are reliable, consistent, punctual, skilled and available. I would not use any other. Excellent GCs and companies in construction are not easy to find. This one is one of very few. Description of Work: We used Supple Construction Contracting Inc. Company in September of 2010. They did construction work in our basement. They put in permanent support columns in the basement.

Description of Work: A structural engineer had found a number of structural problems in our house. Supple (a) reinforced a beam over the garage and added some post support for that roof, (b) reinforced a beam in one room that had been added on to the house, (c) reinforced one internal support post next to that room, (d) added extra joists in the basement underneath a granite countertop, and (d) replaced the two metal posts supporting the main beam in the basement (the two posts had rusted). In addition to this structural work, they did a minimal rennovation of one room -- removing some woodwork, painting, and removing an outmoded and unused woodstove and patching the roof where the chimney had been.

Description of Work: Supple Construction has done quality work both in my business and in my home. When I first bought my building on Bear Hill Road in Waltham, our experience with our GC and builders was horrific. My business is open 24/7 and we have had all sorts of issues that Mr. Supple has helped us solve not only efficiently but economically as well. We have also done numerous remodeling projects that were done on time and within budget. Supple has always been innovative and creative about how to utilize space. We have also had building emergencies both at home and work and Mr Supple himself has contacted me each time and visited the site to see what the issue was and simply fixed the problem. He and his team are personable, reliable, and are willing to work with us to get the job done no matter what. I have worked with a lot of construction companies over the years and I will say emphatically that Supple is the only one I allow in both my buisines and home properties. I could not run my business and manage my building without him.
