I see why StarTec is A+ rated in reviews!They are customer oriented first and business oriented second, if you can believe that! Eric bent over backwards to adjust his schedule to my very tight timeframe. He even cut short his Labor Day weekend kayaking by a day in order to meet my urgent deadline. He clearly explained what was required in my complicated alarm system, spelling out the component parts needed, and stating how and when he was going to complete the work. He expressed old-fashioned trust (“we’re kind of informal here, just give me a check for half when we start”) without reams of pages of extensive legal protection from liability. It’s like I remember old-fashioned family businesses, but with a cutting edge technological expertise. (The present working family members cover 3 generations; Matriarch founder, son and his wife, and their sons, etc). I can’t recommend StarTec highly enough! I wish I had more work for them to do for me right now!

Sales person came on a Saturday morning, reviewed my present system and stated I would receive the quote by Tuesday of the coming week. It has been more than a week and a half, no quote. Called their office Monday of the following week. She took my info,. Four days later still nothing.

The installation was great, the way the installers ran the wires (all neatly tied down) show how much they care about what they do. The finished install went like clock work, they arrived when they said they would, and they were very professional and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this company.

Eric and his team were excellent from the very beginning. Eric came for a free initial evaluation of my house, what I was looking for, and thoroughly assessed what would be entailed. Shortly afterwards, I received a proposal for the work and we set up a very convenient time for him and his team to come in and do the work. They did an excellent job and were extremely friendly, informative and professional. Eric went above and beyond the call of duty as he returned in the evening to review with me how each system worked since I was working late that day. The alarm system, Sonos and Nest are all working very well and Eric has made himself available via email and phone to go over any questions I've had. I would definitely use Startec again.

Startec was prompt, courteous and efficient. Eric came out to give a project estimate on the day and time promised, unlike some noshows you might contact outside of Angie's List, and on the day of the project the work was performed as you'd expect by professionals.

This is a fantastic company start to finish. The were prompt, professional and friendly right from start to finish. We would use them again and recommend them with out reservation!

After about 10 days of no communication I called and spoke with a women who answered the phone. She asked why I called and I explained I was waiting for a quote. She said I would get a call back. This was a month ago and no call back.

They came up on time, installed the cameras -and the wiring (which necesitated them crawling through the crawl space). Showed the basics of how to use the system. Cleaned up after themselves, and were a pleasure to do business with. I would highly recommend them for peace of mind.

Of the providers we spoke to, Eric was the most responsive, flexible and comprehensive in arranging a visit and drawing up a proposal. We did not proceed with with Eric, but I was extremely impressed with his proposal and the interactions we had.

Horrible. After initially receiving a quick response, StarTec accepted the job and scheduled a day for service. On the day of service the company said they made a mistake in their scheduling and would not be able to make it. After rescheduling for one week later the company had the audacity to text me on the day of service and say they would no longer be willing to do the work. Once I got them on the phone the company owner said they had too much going on and no longer wanted the work. Very poor service, and very unprofessional. If you want the run-around from a poorly run company this is the one for you. Very amateur.

They were very courteous, professional and clean. I didn't have to do anything. They left the house in perfect order. They system is working very efficiently. I was very pleased with them and so was my husband. I was so pleased because I had just joined AL and I didn't have names. I had people come out and no one impressed us as much as Startec. As far as getting an estimate and doing the work, they were tops.

Eric Farmer, the company owner, was very professional. He very patiently waited while other work was done on the house, and he looked for ways to save us money in the installation while not reducing the effectiveness or quality of the installation. He was less expensive that the security company we had used for the past 20 years (and more responsive as well. Very high recommendation!

Eric is amazing. Other alarm companies said that we needed to use wireless alarms and video because they couldn't wire our (historic) house. Eric pulled wires, extended our wifi network and put the video cameras on a separate secure network. And his price was less than half the price of the other alarm companies. His employees are all smart, clean and professional. They were able to install motion detectors that our 160 pound dog wouldn't trip. There's nothing that they can't do.

Eric is fantastic! He has done two places for us. He did such a great job that we asked him to come back several times because we decided to add sensors and remote access. He was accommodating to our very difficult schedules and a consummate professional. In our first place, there was an issue with the communication link (unrelated to his installation) and Eric kept at it until the problem was fixed. We recommend him to everyone seeking an alarm system!

Eric came out and gave us an estimate of the equipment and how the system worked. We set a date and time for him to come and install the sytem. Eric came with two workers at the time we agreed on. His crew was very professional and they completed the installation within a couple of hours from the start time. Eric had to come back the next dayto install an additional filter so that the internet service would function properly.He also installed a free smoke detector which is part of his special with Angie's list customers. This is in addition to 3 free months of security monitoring. He explained to both myself and wife how the system worked and how to turn the system on and off. StarTec Communications was very easy to deal with in all aspects of the installation process.

I was a little worried when communication and timing seemed a little sketchy. We were promised a quote "tonight, tomorrow at the latest" the day Eric showed up to check out our place but I had to prod twice before a quote finally showed up two days later. Then on the day of the appointment, they showed up a little late (but not late enough that it felt like a big issue). However, it was an entirely different and happy story once they got to work. Eric and his team spent hours installing the new system and were extremely polite, unobtrusive, and helpful. I was very happy with all their answers to my questions including the frankness in which Eric expressed that we are in no way obligated to use their service for monitoring and his reassurance that the system is fully ours no matter what we choose to do in regards to monitoring. They also, surprise!, cleaned up after themselves and were careful not to leave a mess or damage our floors. Lastly, it turned out there was a miscommuncation about what kind of system and monitoring we needed (landline vs. cellular) and their quote did not include cellular equipment. Rather than charge us the $200+ (which we probably would have reconsidered installing the system if that were true, to be fair), they honored their quoted price for the system and made sure we understand monitoring was $5 more a month for cellular. I thought this was a very fair way to handle the issue and was happy with the conclusion.

easy, good. Little forgetful, had to return an extra time but pleasant, would definitely recommend.

Installed everything neatly. Were on time. Had a few questions where here within an hour. The price was really low and have really good deals as well

We had an outstanding experience with Eric. I had emailed him through Angie's List one night and awoke to an email from him in the morning, asking me to contact him to discuss our needs. We set an appointment for a few days later and he arrived promptly, summed up our requirements perfectly and made helpful suggestions. It was clear that he was an expert at his business. We hired him to perform the work, and once again he arrived for the alarm installation right on time. He and his technician spent hours setting up the system - they were very pleasant to have around. Eric remembered that I had asked for a certificate for our insurance company and had brought it along. He also offered an idea that saved us some money. We could not be more pleased with our dealings with Eric and look forward to a long-term relationship with him and his company.

They have been very responsible and responsive to our needs. We will continue our service through Startec Communications.

Our small brownstone condo building has an old fire alarm system in the hallways that started beeping for no apparent reason. We called Startec to investigate, a technician came promptly and, while he said we might want to upgrade our system because it is extremely old, he still completed a quick and easy fix to the main electrical panel. That Startec fix worked for two years, our system is now beeping again, and I have another call out to Startec. Perhaps this time we will follow their recommendations and upgrade to a newer alarm system. That is a true testament to good customer service! I look forward to submitting an additional report, not on a service call, but on our fire alarm upgrade.

He's very responsible and very responsive. All around we highly recommend him. Eric is very personable and we have been using him for 12 years. He has a website.
