Everyone at Marathon was very professional. The 3-person moving crew was excellent and they completed the job slightly under the estimated cost. I was very happy that the day went so smoothly.

They were very helpful. They did break something, but they reimbursed me.

Showed up on time and with proper crew number and truck. They were professional and responsive. Crew was polite, clean and work efficiently. They were h****** some of our old furniture. Two chairs were broken. No response on payment or repair. We did opt for the standard insurance. If you have expensive furniture, I would advise extra insurance. They did pad the furniture.

They (2 guys) showed up right on time - 8 am They were efficient yet careful . Helped pack a large flat screen TV safely without having to remove the stand to fit it in the original box. They loaded furniture from the storage unit and moved everything into a 2 floor condo in much less time than I had thought. They set up a heavy armoire that was in 2 pieces and a sectional sofa. I had purchased their Angie's list coupon and everything was recorded on the bill so i just paid the balance.

Marathon movers were great. They arrived early, which was great, and gave plenty of notice. Were careful with everything and very efficient. Ended up charging even less than expected. Would definitely recommend them and work with them again. In fact, we plan to engage them to move our pool table shortly.

We had 3 movers , the lead uninstall and install tv stand and furniture and ordering the other two people who do most if not all of the moving. They were professional and moved everything without breaking. Overall the quality was good. But we were disappointed and surprise how the bill were added up. At the end of the move, they spent an hour sitting in their empty truck calculating the simple bill which added up to a very expensive hour to the overall bill. That part we thought was way too much of padding times, where a few minutes of adding up would do, with or without calculator. They added 2 hours time for arriving at our old house which is next town from their office and going back to their place from our new place which is less than 30 miles away. This part a little of adding additional time we could understand. But spending an hour waiting for them to add up the hours for the bill added up unnecessarily time to a very expensive bill. We would not use them again for this reason; nor can we recommend them to our friends.

I decided to hire Marathon Moving Company even though they were more expensive than some of the other moving companies which were also available. I hired Marathon Moving Company because they got such amazing reviews on Angie's list and the person I spoke with was very kind and responsive on the phone. For example, I mentioned that it was important to me to de-clutter two of our closets because we are selling our house. He said that company would provide wardrobe boxes for me on the day of the move "at no extra charge." I didn't pack up any of the items from the two closets ahead of time since I was anticipating having the wardrobe boxes at the move itself. After the three moving men arrived, they said that they didn't bring any wardrobe boxes since they weren't listed as being needed on my form. They said that they didn't think they had any wardrobe boxes in the truck but they would check. One of the moving men jokingly said, who was it that told you you would have them? I bet it was..." and he laughed. I mentioned that I had prepaid $450 for 3 hours of time with 3 moving men (1 1/4 hour is deducted for their own travel time). I also mentioned that there is a coupon on Angie's list for 50 dollars off as well. I showed it to him and he said it was fine. As we talked, he was very impatient, he kept rushing me, and he said,, "We don't want this to take all day." The 3 men quickly moved the items from the front hall. Regarding the basement items, only one man came down the stairs to get the things from the basement. I asked if the other men were moving the items from the office upstairs and he said no. They wanted to tackle the basement first. I am not sure what the other 2 men were doing while we were moving the basement items. Most of the boxes were pretty small and I don't think it would save time to have 3 men working on one are of the house at the same time. It seemed like it would have been much more efficient to have one of the men moving the items from upstairs, one man in the truck, and one moving things from the basement. Also the head mover was rather annoyed that I didn't have a few of the items packed already. I anticipated that they would have some packing material available if needed but he just said, ?you are supposed to have everything packed ahead of time? and he did not offer any materials or assistance to safely pack some items I hadn't known how to pack like fragile hanging artwork. He told me not to move the fragile items until they get packed appropriately because they?d be moving all over the truck and would possibly get broken. He said offhandedly, that if I wanted him to take them, I'd have to sign a waiver. I didn't mind about the waiver but I didn't want fragile items to go into the truck without any packing to protect them. I was anticipating that the movers would be able to help with packing some of the more difficult items and if not, would have appropriate packing materials available to help reduce the risk that more fragile items would get broken. I anticipated that the movers would be able to provide this type of service. These movers were not open to assisting with the actual packing. The only thing the head mover agreed to do was close two boxes (without tape) which took him about 30 seconds to do. I asked again about the wardrobe boxes as we moved onto the upstairs and the head mover said that they did not have any wardrobe boxes. This was very disappointing to me since this was a major part of the move and I told him so. Two days after the move, I received a phone call regarding the final cost. I called back to let them know that the $50 dollar coupon hadn't been applied. The woman on the phone said that it couldn't be used along with the $450 deal. I said that this should have been explained to be beforehand and that the mover said that it was okay to use the coupon. She said she would talk to the mover. I mentioned that what I was really disappointment/ unhappy about wasn?t the $50 dollars and I explained about how wardrobe boxes were promised to me ahead of time (so I didn?t pack any of the clothes) but the movers told me they didn?t know about this and didn?t have any wardrobe boxes in the truck. She said she'd talk to the moving men and get back to me. I received two phone messages that day letting me know that they hadn't yet spoken to the moving men and would call me again when they did. Someone from the company called the next day (today) stating they talked to the movers and they couldn't honor the $50 coupon. This wasn?t a big deal to me since it seemed like an honest mistake. But then the man on the phone said that he spoke to the moving man and ?they said that they DID have wardrobe boxes in the truck and they offered them to you but you didn't want them because you wanted to keep the move within 3 hours.? I said that this was a boldface lie and that the other two movers were there the first time I asked about the wardrobe box and they said they didn't think they had any one of the moving men even jokingly said, who was it that told you would have them? I bet it was..." The man on the phone then informed me that all 3 men said they had wardrobe boxes available in the truck and that I said I didn't want them! I couldn't believe that all 3 men lied like that. I reiterated that I very much wanted the wardrobe boxes. I never said that I didn't want them. The fact is that I asked politely for them twice and that I was told definitively after asking the second time that they did not have any wardrobe boxes. I told the man on the phone it was not his fault. I was angry and upset about the lack of professionalism and blatant dishonestly in the three other men. Unfortunately -- because of this -- I will not use the Marathon Moving Company again.

Straightforward. A few bumps here and there, but quick and easy was the overall experience.

Great. They were very fast, efficient and everything was packed really well. Packing up the kitchen and pictures takes forever, but they were done with the house faster than expected and the price was actually a few hundred $ less than quoted. Team was very nice, respectful of the house and my family.

We bought an Angies List deal for Marathon Moving for $375 for 3 hours of moving by two men and a truck. AFTER buying the deal we were to call Marathon to schedule the move. That's when I found out from them that their travel time to and from Boston would be deducted from the 3 hours of moving time, leaving us with only 1.5 hours of time! This was not mentioned in the Angies List deal. Marathon also was initially reluctant to honor my Angies List purchase since the date was 1 September, a big moving day for college kids in Boston. They called me back later to say they would honor it. Also, there were additional "charges" to be paid, such as a $30 fuel charge, plus a $20 materials charge, plus we needed to get 2 parking permits for their truck at about $50 - $60 each if we got them ourselves from the City of Boston. If we asked Marathon to get the permits (one for each side of the street) they would charge us $300 for both! We bought a permit and they didn't use it. So, my $375 Angies List deal turned out to cost us a lot more. None of these extra charges were mentioned in the deal and I only found out about them after purchase - and I told the Marathon Moving POC that I think they should be more forthcoming in describing the actual costs of their deals. The movers did show up on time and did a satisfactory job, but moved pretty slowly, so we went over on the time and had to pay more. Buyer beware of extra charges from these movers!

It was totally fair. They were awesome. They're a total "A" all the way.

It went smoothly, there was a job captain in charge of his crew. He kept things smooth.

I have signed up for a coupon good for three movers and a truck for three hours through Angie's List deals. Marathon Moving Company called a couple days in advance of my move to confirm my arrival window between 7:30 and 8:30am. On the day of the move, the lead mover called at 7:30 to let me know that their ETA would be around 8:30am due to heavy traffic conditions. This was great for me because I wouldn't have been ready at 7:30am. They ended up bringing two smaller trucks, which was great given that Arlington streets are quite narrow. When they arrived, we did a quick walk through of my place to orient the movers on what things I wanted them to take (there was a pile of items in the kitchen I hadn't yet packed and said that I would move those items myself). In the matter of an hour and a half, they had everything loaded in the trucks. They were conscientious about wrapping delicate items in moving pads and pointing out furniture that had scuffs and damage prior to them moving them. I moved from a first floor apartment to a condo encompassing the second and third floors of a two-family house. The route into my new place proved challenging because of an immediate 90 degree turn to get up the back staircase and in addition, because I had not yet had the floors refinished, I wanted all the furniture deposited into one room on the third floor. They gave me a heads-up before an item of furniture was moved up the stairs and they felt that it was likely to leave scuff marks on the wall. The movers were courteous, professional and hard working. In all (with driving time included), it took them a little over 5 hours to move my things. Overall, I had an excellent experience with Marathon Moving Company and would highly recommend them.

Nick, John and Mike were excellent!!!!! They were professional and polite. They worked like engineers and coordinated my move quickly and efficiently. I am more than completely satisfied with my moving experience and will recommend Marathon Moving to anyone who needs a moving company.

Marvin and his crew are amazing! They work extremely hard and so their best to get the job done the way you want it. They worked from 8-6 on the move out without complaint and did such a great job. Nothing was left behind and they did not leave a mess. On of in day they carefully put things where we wanted them and worked as a team to get an over sized couch into a room that seemed impossible. They have great focus and determination! I would use these guys again in a heartbeat.

Things went very smoothly. The only problem was that they failed to deliver two of my lampshades. I caught the problem when they delivered my furniture on 10/27. They did get them to me the following day.

They were AMAZING! 5 guys extremely professional and courteous, worked so hard and SO CAREFUL. I had a nightmare experience with Allied Movers (don't ever hire them), but Marathon Movers were very careful with all my furniture AND home, including wood floors, carpeting upstairs, not a scratch or any dirt left behind. Wrapped carefully all my furniture. The guys were literally running back to the truck after they'd bring something in the house, they worked as quick as they could. LOVED them, would definitlely hire them again.

It went wonderfully. They are an excellent company. The packing was done professionally. The man in charge made the orders and the team followed the efficiently. It was efficient and went swiftly. The group was well balanced. One of the drivers knew what he was doing and did a great job. Marathon was wonderful about keeping the truck over night for several nights before taking it on the road because my husband I needed the extra time to make our trip to Virgina. One the truck arrived, the boss (who was the driver) was there. The unpacking was swift and efficient. The whole move was terrific. Marathon has won a number of awards which is the reason I looked very seriously.

Every aspect of the experience was outstanding. I received prompt responses to my inquiries by email and phone and a prompt estimate. I contacted them on a Friday and was able to schedule the move for Monday. They showed up on time and were extremely professional, hard-working, and pleasant throughout. Jason and (especially) Xavier did a wonderful job in transporting everything and making sure everything went smoothly. The ultimate price was very reasonable and much lower than another estimate we had received for less work. We have moved a number of times and this was the best experience by far. They were on time, professional, they got the job done quickly. I have never seen guys work so hard! They were just incredible!

Even though we got rid of lots of stuff after 25 years in a 2.5 story Colonial (3 BRs, office, 2.5 baths, family room, screened porch, full basement, attic, garage), we still had enough to warrant two trucks. We did most of the packing, but the 3 person team who came the day before the move to prep did some of the last minute things we were unsure of or were difficult to handle. Marathon also provided boxes and wrapping paper days ahead (including "used" boxes at no charge). The team was fantastic. They were quick, professional, helpful, and careful (and very personable) and got us ready for the move. Two trucks and 5 people arrived on schedule and did an incredible job. We were amazed at how they hustled, asked questions when needed, made suggestions, and had the trucks packed in less time than we anticipated with the same attention to detail, care, speed and professionalism we experienced the day before. The cost of the move to storage came in under the estimate. We had our things in storage for about 4 months (@$585 per month for 9 vaults with insurance, not included in service cost above), while we rented a furnished house until we closed on the new property. The move out of storage to the new home couldn't have been smoother, even though it was in February and we had to deal with mountains of snow and icy roads. We asked them to stop at the rental (with a very difficult badly-plowed road) to pick up a mattress and box spring and a small chest. When they arrived at the new home, they spread protective mats everywhere (we had newly installed hardwood floors), and before we knew it, they had cleared both trucks and we were in. The team of 4 did a remarkable job (the team leader and one of the others had been on the original team). After spending the next two weeks unpacking, we didn't find one problem - no nicks, scratches, or damage of any kind and everything accounted for. Moving after 25 years can be very traumatic and stressful - any move is. It's not just about moving and protecting physical things, there are lots of memories wrapped up in those boxes and pieces of furniture. But Marathon really made the experience much easier. Having a moving company take such good care in how they operate and perform goes a long way in helping to make that transition. Marathon did an extraordinary job and we wholeheartedly recommend them.

When we moved a couple of years ago, we used Marathon and couldn?t stop talking about how amazing they were (we?ve recommended the company to anyone we?ve come in contact with who is even considering a move). So, when we got ready to move again, we immediately called Marathon and didn?t bother considering any other moving companies. Since we were so pleased last time, we tried to request the same personnel wherever possible. The same person was able to do our estimate for us (Lucas is great!). The estimate process was as easy as it was in 2013 (in fact, it was slightly easier this time because the representative started from his previous estimate and simply adjusted things as needed). The actual move day went incredibly smoothly (again). The crew was efficient and careful with all of our belongings. Before they finished, they walked us from room to room making sure that all furniture was placed where we wanted it. And as an added bonus, they actually completed the move in less time than was estimated (this was a local move, so it was estimated by the hour), which meant that the final cost was less than we had budgeted for. Within a couple of days after our move, Marathon notified us that there had been a couple of mistakes when the final bill was calculated. Specifically, our deposit hadn?t been credited against our final bill. We actually hadn?t even realized the problem ourselves, but Marathon immediately sent us a refund check for the overpayment amount. We?re hoping not to move again for a long time, but if we do move again, we?re definitely calling Marathon!

Two men arrived on time and were very accommodating, as we were still packing up last minute items. They moved everything carefully and professionally. The entire move took about 6 hours.

It worked out well. They were great. They were on time. Two guys came out. They were also very courteous.
