It went well until the very end. They were supposed to dismantle a picnic table to move it and they did not bring the tools to dismantle it. It was really heavy and it was real hard for them all because of a communication error on their end. Everything else went well. They treated my stuff like their own.

Moving team arrived on time, quickly and carefully moved me out of our old apartment into our new home in Jamaica Plain. They did all of this with professionalism, speed and did not create a smudge on either the walls or the floor.

Great experience. Everyone we dealt with was friendly, helpful, and motivated. The movers showed up on time and were speedy (these guys are strong!) and yet took care not to damage anything. The final cost was slightly under the estimate. I did not compare prices as theirs seemed quite reasonable but IMO you get what you pay for, moving is no fun and it's important to have good movers, Marathon certainly fits the bill. I recommend them to anyone I know who needs movers and am pleased to give them a good report.

Needless to say we did not choose this company to move us.

We were very pleased with our experience with Marathon Moving. We completed the detailed online form and received an estimate quickly, and were able to book our first choice move date. They called a few days before the move to confirm. There were four men on our moving team, all of whom were very professional, efficient, and strong! They arrived right on time and three guys loaded the truck with everything I had packed while the fourth guy did the packing of the fragiles. The packing and loading took about three hours, and then they met us at the new house in Needham. They were very organized and asked us where all of the items should be placed as they unloaded the truck.

We enjoyed them the first time and the second time was wonderful.

They made all the arrangements with another moving company who moved me from Boston to Milwaukee. I would highly recommend them. They were very professional and helped me out tremendously. It was an overall great experience.

Great! The men arrived on time, worked quickly and neatly considering it was pouring rain on the Cape. I felt badly that they had to wait for me in Roslindale, but they were very good natured about it. The furniture was perfectly in place when I arrived.

They took care of every piece, carefully doing a top of the line job!

Excellent. The two movers, Dave and Brandon, were extremely professional, courteous, and very conscientious. They were very careful with all our pieces of furniture and were good about placing all our items in the right rooms. They hand carried everything, no hand trucks or dollies. So, there was little risk of harm to even fragile items. The price was significantly above estimate, but the estimate had been over the phone and I seriously underestimated the amount of stuff we had to move. I would use them again and recommend them highly.

The move was done carefully and courteously. No items were broken, but one wardrobe was slightly dented, which we noticed only after the movers left. The move went considerably over the budgeted time and we got charged more than their estimate (estimate 5-7 hours, actual 8 1/4 hours). In their defense, there was some snow on the ground that slowed them down, but this was expected even when the estimate was given. In addition they got lost trying to find our house and ended up charging us for the extra time as well. This in spite of having earlier said they will bill us for time only after getting to our house. The driver and movers were friendly and helped set up the furniture and boxes the way we wanted. I was surprised that they don't inventory the items or give us a bill of lading upon loading the truck like some of the bigger moving companies do. Since it was a local move, we didn't mind it but we would not use them again.

Lucas arrived promptly a couple of days after I called, to do an in- home estimate. He was very quick yet very thorough. Within a few hours, we received the estimate via email that was quite detailed. A couple of days before the move, the company called to confirm our day and time and answered all of my questions. On move day, the crew arrived promptly and worked endlessly the entire day. They were very thorough, did not waste anytime and were incredibly courteous. They finished the move an hour earlier then estimated. They were true to their quote in terms of the number of movers, number of trucks and pricing estimate. This is the third move my husband and I have done with hired movers and Marathon Moving was by far the best group of movers out there and I highly recommend them!

Very accommodating start to finish. Gave me a quote on the phone and locked in a date (only 1 week out) with a credit card deposit. Movers showed up on time. Original plan was for them to just move the furniture and a few boxes, with me moving the rest on my own. They told me it would be easier for them to move everything, so I gave them the green light. These guys literally ran from the truck back to the house to get another piece to load. At the new house they unloaded everything without scratching my newly finished floors or leaving so much as a dent in any of the walls. Took them 8 1/2 hours (original quote was 7-9 hours, and didn't include all the boxes). They were fast, carefully, and new what they were doing. Very pleased!

The cost was worth it. They took things apart and rebuilt it, wrapped all furniture, were careful and were pleasant. They came in at the estimate and were punctual.

It was an amazing experience! The lady that quoted the job over the phone to me was great.

The move was scheduled for a Saturday, a day when residents of the condo are not supposed to use the elevators for moving furniture. However, Marathon said they could do the whole move in two hours, so the manager agreed to give us this time. However, the time was badly underestimated and we had to stop the move after three hours, as the other residents were complaining. But Marathon handled this situation very well indeed. They sent an extra group of movers the following Tuesday, which was the day I requested, to finish the move. The movers were extremely pleasant, obliging, courteous and careful. The price was extremely fair and there was no extra charge, for the return. I would recommend these movers highly. An excellent job.

From my call to Marathon Moving to schedule an on site estimate to the actual delivery of the estimate their service was very professional, timely and informative. Lucas McGary was excellent. He showed up on time, was very responsive to my questions and concerns. He even went to my new house to ensure that there would be no problems with moving me in. I received a lower bid from another firm. With my tight budget I didn't have a lot of flexibility. The price proposed was reasonable and not way out of line with the firm I chose.

Everything went perfectly! A big snowstorm was forecast for the Wednesday of our move-in, and we called Marathon on Monday to see if they could do the job Tuesday. They were able to, and thank goodness -- today is Wednesday, and it's really coming down out there. Marathon's prices were higher than other movers, but the level of service proved to me that you get what you pay for. I would definitely recommend Marathon.

Lucas came promptly, gave us 2 estimates: one for just antiques, & one for all of our furniture, which didn't add much to the cost. The day went like clockwork, exactly as planned; movers showed up on time, were indeed "careful, courteous, & swift", & were done by late afternoon with no damage at all. The original estimate was for 2 trucks & 4 men, & Lucas sent one truck & 3 men, which did the job in a slightly longer time, but probably saved money overall (everything JUST fit). Prices were less than the other highly rated company on Angie's List & while the final bill wasn't lower than the estimate, it wasn't higher either, & two slight errors were corrected quickly without question (I forgot to ask for Angie's List discount & travel cost was calculated per original estimate but should have been lower with just one truck). Lunch break seemed to be calculated a little generously, but on the other hand the movers were totally focused every second on the job.

The team of three worked very quickly together. They were very friendly and very patient and went the extra mile to move things again when I changed my mind of where things should go...they did manage to damage the walls in two places..my only complaint...but I would recommend them.

We had recently relocated for my husband's job and kept all of our packing materials. For that reason, the estimate for a full pack that Marathon provided us was not terribly different than an estimate for a ''no-pack.'' We were pleasantly surprised. The move itself went smoothly, and things were packed relatively intelligently and marked clearly so that we could find them later. One lamp was broken in transit, and they deducted it on the spot. They finished within the time frame and estimate provided. It also helped that they gave us an Angie's List discount!

Marathon Movers were great. Lucas came out to do the initial estimate and the final price ended up being significantly less. We had an opportunity to move a fair portion of our belongings ourselves between estimate and move date so I called Lucas about a week before the move to let him know that it would be a smaller move than planned and their was no problem with this. On move day, four men and two trucks showed up on time and they worked quickly yet still managed to treat my belongings with the greatest care. This was the fastest, easiest, most stress-free move I have ever had. They had me out and into the new house in 3 1/2 hours with 95% of my things landing right where they were supposed to go.
