They were very good and I was happy with their service. They were also very reliable and they did what they had to do. I would use them again in the future.

Marathon's price quote was very competitive with other companies that I had contacted (even those that were local and had much less distance to travel to execute my move). I had heard great things about them from my mortgage broker who had used them to move personally twice before. Paul's staff arrived right on time, was very personable, and took extreme measures to protect all of my belongings from damage. They provided wardrobe boxes for my hanging clothes and mattress bags which were a big help as well. Every item was individually padded and wrapped. They laid down mats to protect my new hardwood floors and padded the stairways and bannisters to prevent any chips. In the end, the move turned out to take longer than expected for a variety of reasons (i.e. apartment elevator, snowstorm). Without hesitation, Paul capped his travel time and took almost 25% off the bill to get us back to the number originally quoted. That's something you NEVER see in the moving industry. Every other company lowballs you on the quote and then comes in for the extra cash at the end when the job is done with some excuse about why it's your fault. Paul was honest from beginning to end. I was very impressed with Marathon's professionalism and approach to customer service. I would recommend them without hesitation.

It went smoothly. The guys came up to the second floor of my apartment and loaded the truck with ease. We drove to the new place and the men asked me where I wanted a few things and handled my belongings very respectly.

This company is top notch. I've used several moving companies over the years and Marathon was one of the best ones I've ever used. The process was really painless; a sales representative came out to my apartment and gave me a written quote; I put down a small deposit and the movers showed up on time, packed all of my things and moved them. Nothing was broken, and they were very professional and efficient. They pretty much worked non stop. I had some furniture that had to be disassembled and reassembled and they did it perfectly. Not only was the move great, but they came in over a hundred dollars UNDER the estimate, which was another plus. I would use them again without hesitation.

Marathon was great from beginning to end. The representative came out to our house to give the estimate, rather than doing it on the phone. He was prompt, polite and thorough. He emailed me an estimate within a day and then followed up, answering my questions as I thought of them. On the day of the move, four guys and a huge truck showed up a few minutes early. All four guys were polite, kind to our 7 year old son, and most important of all, extremely hard working. It was a big move. Every time I looked all four guys were moving quickly but carefully, making sure to take care of the furniture, walls and floors. On the day everything came out of storage another crew came to the house where we were staying and picked up more furniture and boxes, and then met us at the new house. Again they spent a long time moving everything in and were careful. Even so, there were two things that were slightly damaged--a wall got a small knock when bringing up a huge couch, and a piece of furniture had gotten a small part broken during storage. The lead mover sat with me at the end of the day, marked down any damage that had happened and went over the payment details. I said that I thought the load out time they had marked down from storage into the trucks seemed like a lot, but gave him a credit card. I got a call the next day from the company. They noted that I had mentioned the load out time, had researched how much time it should have taken, and cut that time in half for me, saving me a few hundred dollars. They also set me up with a fantastic company that came out and repaired my piece of furniture and the wall damage. All in all, they were professional, courteous, prompt, and did what they said they would do. It was a little more expensive than I hoped, but it was worth it for the quality. I would use them again in a heartbeat--except I swear I will NEVER move again!

They were good at what they did, and they worked fairly quickly.

Great moving company. My mother used them last year as well. Professional and courteous. They also send email quotes and confirmations which is nice. When I ran out of boxes and tape I was able to purchase more from them. I finished packing while they moved boxes! I highly reccomend their services.

The move process went very well, with a crew of 3 coming a day in advance to help pack everything up, and then 2 trucks and a crew of six to handle the move the following day. On-site work totaled about 72 hours. We were very pleased with the crew's work ethic and professionalism, and didn't notice any mishaps (TBD if any furniture was damaged; if so I'll update once our stuff comes out of storage). The quote was fairly accurate; we ended up paying about 5% more than originally quoted. Only complaint is that the crew was about 30 minutes late on moving day, but in their defense they called to let us know they were stuck in traffic and they still finished up within the estimated timeframe.

Overall our move ended up ok but the minute the team pulled up to our house to move us out, the foreman had a chip on his shoulder and complained about everything. If you should up at a house with 3 trucks and 7 guys it's obviously going to be a big move so stop complaining about it and if you have rules on packing, please relay them to the customer ahead of time so you don't p*** and moan every time you see a garbage bag full of clothes come up to the truck. It wasn't until my wife finally lost it and yelled at him did things start to go a little more smoothly and he stopped complaining. We also asked them quote on packing up our art work and they didn't include that in the quote. Shame on us for not reviewing the quote in detail, but what's the point of doing a walk through if you're not going to quote on all that is requested? The move in process the following day which much more smooth. We used marathon moving for our last move and had an incredible experience (gave them the glowing review they deserved) but after this experience, next time we will probably spend the extra money and go with gentle giant

Outstanding job from start to finish. Even with a minor claim, they were courteous and very responsive. Great job.

The men arrived at 7:30 am, as promised. They wrapped the furniture piece by piece, dismantling the pieces which were too large to move as is. It was raining out and they placed rubber mats on the floor to protect the home. they then transported the furniture to Scituate and placed it where I asked. To the extent pieces were dismantle, they put them back together, including the tv with all of the wires. They were courteous and professional throughout.

The guys that performed our move were amazing. It was really top notch service and we could not have been happier. The final cost was almost exactly on the estimate.

The person who gave me the initial quote, Paul, was very helpful and thorough. The three guys who came to move our furniture were friendly and fast. HOWEVER, they broke a dining room chair and scuffed our dining room table. What's WORSE, is that they tried to glue the chair, so that we did not notice it (I did not understand why they would do this until my unpleasant conversation with Sheila...read on for that). Unfortunately, the break was so bad that they were forced to confess. I had to point their attention to the dining room table scuffs (one larger than a quarter, the other about the size of a dime). After they left, we discovered more scuffs on our dresser. It, unfortunately, doesn't end here. When I called Sheila to find out how to get the insurance coverage (60 cents per pound...something's better than nothing...), she was extremely RUDE to me. Rather than say something about how it was too bad that the company she represented damaged our furniture, she was very disrespectful, acting as if I was inconveniencing her. When I asked her about coverage for the dresser, she said that since we discovered it after the guys left, insurance did not cover it. She added (in a very rude tone of voice) that this was in the contract that we signed. I was so upset with the whole experience.

I like them a lot. We are kind of between two houses right now and so we did not move everything. It involved picking up a number of furniture. They wrapped things up very well to protect them. We did not want neighbors to know we were moving things out at that time, so they actually rented a nondescript truck instead of their own truck and they did not wear the uniforms. It was kind of a move of 80 miles - a lot of it was probably 80 miles up and probably 70 miles back to their home base when they were done. They were professional and they took a lot of care in moving things and wrapping things more than I remember other movers doing it in the past. They were very punctual. Their estimate was pretty much right-on. We were not moving everything at the time. As they were moving, I thought of other things to move. They were flexible -they picked up more things than I originally told them. They were friendly. I would use them again in the future.

Allen, Alex, John, and Dennis met me with two trucks. While our estimate was for 4 guys and 2 trucks, I had called Marathon when I scheduled the move a week before to let them know we'd only need 3 guys and 1 truck. They only charged us for 1 truck though. They were all very nice, personable, and professional. They worked very hard, taking only one short break. They did everything we asked, and Allen (the crew chief) asked us several times along the way how we thought things were going and to let him know of anything we were concerned about. They took care to avoid damage, both to our house and our stuff. They were also courteous to neighbors who were blocked by the trucks. This move came in under budget because I had moved a lot of the stuff myself beforehand. They might not be the least expensive company, but they're not the priciest either, and the quality and care of their work was very evident. We look forward to using Marathon again for the 2nd move and will be requesting Allen and his crew- great job all around. We'll recommend them to our friends.

They are very professional, punctual, reliable and experienced. I spent $2000 on that work. They do both local and interstate moving.

Excellent! I have moved several times in my life and never before have I had such terrific movers. Every mover I've ever hired (before Marathon Moving) either lost stuff or broke stuff or cost more than they estimated. Marathon's estimate was dead-on accurate with what I ended up paying. The three gentlemen who moved us were courteous, professional and hard-working. Not one thing got broken or lost in the process. We had one minor glitch with the final billing, but Paul (company owner) quickly apologized and resolved the situation to my complete satisfaction. I'm never moving again, but if I did, it would be with the help of Marathon Moving. I've already recommended them to someone else (outside of Angie's List). The only moving company I would use.

Excellent job all around, from estimation to completion. The pre-visit showed us what would and would not fit into the new place, and the moving crew was efficient, personable, and took great care in getting our items from one place to the other with absolutely no damage. I would not hesitate to use them again.

I was particularly impressed by the initial contact that I had with Dave and how responsive he was to all of my emails and phone calls. He made the process seem effortless (although obviously packing up multiple boxes isn't easy). The price seemed quite reasonable and the move went smoothly. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for movers.

All aspects of the move were very smooth and professional. They recommended a 4-man crew and 1 truck, and the move went much faster and was therefore less expensive than our previous move with a very reputable company that used a 3-man crew. The crew was excellent and helped set up our furniture. I highly recommend them.

This is the second time we?ve used Marathon?s services. They actually moved us into the apartment we moved out of this time. As with the previous experience, this one was marked by attention to detail, professionalism, asking the right questions about our belongings, treating our stuff as though it were their own, handling the cumbersome pieces with extreme care, and despite two full days of hard work, remaining upbeat and pleasant. The crew of Keith, Ron, James, and Johnny were skilled, very hard working, pleasant to deal with, and willing to go the extra mile to make sure things went well. These guys aren?t just strong guys doing a part time job. They are experienced movers and know what they?re doing. Nothing was broken or damaged, and there weren?t any discernible bumps or scrapes on the walls at either location. At our new place we were particularly concerned about the new wood floors. Keith and the crew made certain that these were well protected. As for price, on our first move four years ago, we quoted the work out to a number of well-known Boston moving companies. Marathon wasn?t the lowest, but it was close and I was impressed by their knowledge and professionalism. For our second move, we didn?t quote the job but went with Marathon again. We?re glad we did. Based on our experience of working with Marathon twice, we would recommend them without reservation.

The owner came to our house to review the contents and give us an estimate - he clearly knew what he was talking about and immediately engendered a sense of confidence. The estimate came in right in the middle of three options. The ultimate price came in under the estimate! I called several times with questions before the move date and the staff at Marathon (particularly Sheila) was very patient and happy to answer any and all questions. The movers showed up right on time - they were professional, hard-working, and friendly. I was particularly impressed that the two "crew chiefs" both walked through the house before loading up, and walked through the new place before unloading to understand the layout and what was needed. They were very careful, and thorough both on the move out, and the move in to the new place. I would definitely use Marathon again.

This company told us that they could not complete an interstate move in one day, even though we were only moving from Boston to Hartford (less than two hours away). Because of the overnight storage they were requiring for a two-day move, their estimate exceeded $3000. The woman on the phone warned me that as I get other estimates, to remember that if another company is offering something that sounds too good to be true, it probably is. She was mistaken. We ended up using another moving company that completed the move in one day (in eight hours), for $1400, and they were excellent.
