We were extremely happy with our experience. Both the packing crew and the moving crew (largely the same people, but with a couple of changes) were just terrific. The guys worked steadily on both days; they were polite, friendly, and in general a real pleasure to work with. Rapport among team members seemed excellent, too, which contributed to the general atmosphere. We would absolutely hire them again and would recommend them to friends.

We had an excellent moving experience with this company a year ago, but I am writing now about our storage experience with them. We are currently in an apartment while we still look for our new home, so most of the furniture and household items we had from our move have been stored at Marathon for the past year. We started with 12 storage containers (each one the size of a small room). In our effort to downsize, I've had to go to Marathon a few times to access these containers. There is a fee each time, but they do everything possible to make this an easy chore. Each time I reserve a time to be there, the containers have already been brought to a convenient location, opened, and I am provided with two helpers who will do whatever is necessary , including removing boxes/furniture from the container, opening/resealing boxes so I can identify contents, loading my car, etc. Their focus is time efficiency and organization, as I am usually there for a couple of hours. The people I have dealt with, Ari, Sheila in the office, and a couple of others who have helped with containers whose names I unfortunately do not know, make this task a completely positive experience.

Great job. Moving is hassle, but Marathon made it simple and painless. We interviewed numerous movers, and Marathon gave us the best feel -- and reasonable pricing (which included upgraded insurance at no extra charge).. Our sales rep, Lucas McGary, guided us through the whole process, and was always accessible. The movers took great care from packing to delivery. Marathon also stored some of our furniture for free to help us donate it to the Mass. Coalition for the Homeless.

Above all, it was the team leader that was spectacular in pushing his men to perform, be professional and provide service. They managed to move an entire suburban household into a 5 story walk up on Beacon Hill on one of the later summer's hottest days. Although I know his patience was sorely tested that day, he was always professional and he led his guys to persevere despite the conditions ie. a 9 foot curved couch up a stairwell. Truly an impressive crew.

Jim and his crew were amazing. They were fast and efficient and very polite. Never having used movers before we werenervous, but these guys wwere professionals. They did the whole job faster and cheaper than their estimate. I highly recommend them.

Sales rep. was very promt and curtious. The only complaint was that he initially told me he could do some things for us but when he got back from speaking with his supervisor he said he couldn't. At first he said he caould give me a binding estimate but then later said he couldn't. He seemed to answer all my questions well. We thought the price was a bit high but the service was excellent. The Moving crew was very good. The lead guy was relaxed, knowledgeable and even charming. I watched them work and saw that they were careful with our stuff. They used a ton of wrapping paper for breakable things, which was a pain when it came to unpacking, but only one saucer was cracked. Pretty good I guess, out of the many things they packed. We've dealt with some rough, scarry movers in the past but these guys were all nice and made everything go smoothly. Honestly I was more impressed with the crew than with the front office and pricing, etc.

Overall, this was a good experience both with the office and the moving team. Office staff were great, took all time needed to explain their services and the move process. The quote was reasonable and the hourly rate extremely competitive. Travel time is capped at one hour each way, which worked out well for my location. On the move day, the team lead called to say they were leaving Randolph, and the three-man crew arrived on time. I asked for china to be wrapped, and we have a 54" upright piano. We moved from a third floor walk-up (that means no elevator) to a ranch. The movers took great care preparing the piano to move and carefully planned how it would proceed down each flight. There's nothing easy about moving a piano, but all went smoothly. Our quote included the piano within the move, there was only a small surcharge for it. At my new home, everything was unloaded quickly and placed where directed. The team worked efficiently and were extremely polite and pleasant. I haven't unpacked the china, but I'd be surprised if anything is damaged. If it is, I'll update this review by end of September. I'd certainly recommend Marathon and would consider them in a future move. Though I sincerely hope to not move again for a very long time!

I'm not sure how I could have had a better experience. Everything was A-1!!

I was combining two households and had to move from my home in Sharon to a larger home in Stoughton. I then had to move my daughter from her home in Stoughton into this larger home. We attempted to do this in one day. This company is wonderful - from my first conversation with Cathy as we booked the move, to the actual people who moved the furniture and boxes - all were just great. Courteous, professional, and thorough.I have recommended them to friends and will use them in the future.

They were very helpful, they made a very a smooth move. The move took less time than anticipated and it was cheaper than the original estimate given.

It went very well. Services included moving the contents of a three bedroom apartment and packing the kitchen. They did a perfect job of packing the kitchen. But beware! They use a LOT of paper so as not to break anything so there's a LOT of unpacking to do at the other end! They sent three guys, all were terrific: friendly, careful, fast. The house I moved into was challenging. It's on a steep hill and has tight corners. They did a great job making it work. .

Everything went very well with Marathon. Stephen came out for the estimate and sent a copy of the estimate in a day or 2. The estimate was in line with the mover we did choose but Marathon had an 8,000 pound minimum charge for the state we were moving to and we felt our load would be, and was, under that minimum.

From the initial contact, through the packing and moving, everything was handled professionally. The three movers arrived on time and quickly packed up the contents of the apartment, wrapping glassware and dishes; packing clothes and personal items. All the furniture was carefully padded up and moved on dollies down the elevator. Arriving at the new location, the movers made sure that all the furniture was placed exactly where my mother, who is 90 years old and on oxygen, wanted. They even made sure that the tape was removed from the boxes so they were easy to open and unpack. I would definitely use Marathon Moving again.

Every aspect of our experience with Marathon Moving was exceptional. The review of our property was prompt and efficient and the resulting estimate was very close to the final cost of the move. The move itself took place over two days and every aspect went smoothly and as planned. The moving crew on both days was professional, efficient, and courteous. They needed very little direction; they came with a plan and executed it. We had some very difficult, fragile, and heavy items; not a single item was broken or damaged!

The gentleman that came over to assess the cost of the move was friendly and thorough in his assessment. They responded to any questions that I had rapidly. They delivered the boxes as needed. The movers arrived on time. They moved all of my belongings and nothing was damaged in the move. They did not take any breaks. They were focused and friendly. They really needed little guidance. They were very independent. They gave me two estimates. One was if I did not do the packing, the charge would be for 9 to 11 hours and the second was if I did the packing, the charge would be for 7 to 9 hours. The problem was I had packed absolutely everything and they charged me for 9 to 11 hours. So, I felt like I was charged an extra four hours at $195 an hour but I received the Angie's List $50 discount.

This was our first experience with a moving company and we were incredibly impressed! The guys were careful and meticulous with our furniture, wrapping everything in clean padded blankets and tape. They took note of fragile items and placed them safely and securely in the truck. We had a ton of stuff, and they moved very quickly and efficiently. Moving into the new home they continued with their meticulous care of the furniture and neatly and carefully placed all boxes in their appropriate locations. They were very professional and courteous. Cost was on the higher end, but well worth the job performed. Outstanding work!

The move was great. It was our first time hiring movers so we weren't sure what to expect, but after this experience, we couldn't imagine doing another move without them. They had a move consultant come to our house right after we contacted them. He walked through our house and provided us with an estimate. On the day of the move, they arrived on-time and started work right away. They were very professional, polite, and a pleasure to work with all day. We tried to have most of our stuff packed for them, but we didn't quite accomplish that goal. It wasn't a problem for them at all. Anything we hadn't already packed, they packed for us and with better care than we had been packing. During the gap between our move out and when we can move into our new house, we needed to keep a few belongings, included our mattress to sleep on. They even helped me strap our mattress to the top of my car...and by "help," i mean they did all the work. The majority of our belongings are in storage right now, so I don't know if they will be delivered in the same condition as when they left our house. But based on the care I observed while they were moving everything out, I have no doubt that our belongings will be delivered in perfect condition. I will update my review when the second half of our move is completed.

We joined Angie's List specifically to find a mover to help us break up our northern home and distribute contents to our children's houses. We selected three top rated providers and each gave us a thorough written estimate. Marathon's agent was unable to keep our first appointment due to an injury and the President of the company came himself to give us an estimate. We were very impressed with the style and approach of the company. The estimated price was very competitive. The packers came when scheduled and performed to our complete satisfaction. They were courteous, hard working with considerable attention to detail. Perhaps most refreshing, they were cheerful. The move went extremely well with all delivery windows met as agreed. The total cost was below the estimated provided.

Our experience with Marathon Moving was amazing! The next time we move, we know who we're hiring! The sales/estimate process We had four different companies come on-site to provide an estimate for our local residential move. Marathon definitely provided the best experience of the four. The representative was business-like, but also friendly, and exuded a sense of competency, wtihout using a hard-sell approach. (Representatives from the other companies ran the gamut from being less professional, to using a hard-sell approach, to being a little condescending when we asked questions about the move process). We asked all four companies to include the same pieces of information in their estimates: - A guaranteed-not-to-exceed estimate - Insurance options - An estimate of the cost of packing supplies that we would need to purchase (we were going to do our own packing) All of them told us that their estimate would include those things, but Marathon was the ONLY company out of the four that actually did include everything. The Marathon representative even went above and beyond that: he provided an inventory of the furniture that they were going to move (so that there was some evidence for how he arrived at the estimate), he provided a breakdown of the number of boxes of each size (Small, Medium, Large) that he thought we would need (his estimate turned out to be almost 100% accurate) and he recommended that it would be cheaper for us to purchase those supplies at Home Depot than it would be to purchase them through a moving company. From a price perspective, Marathon's estimate was in the middle of the group; they weren't the cheapest, but they also weren't the most expensive. Because they were the only company that provided the guaranteed-not-to-exceed estimate, we were confident that at the end of the move we weren't going to be responsible for more than we expected. During the packing process, we came up with some additional questions about how to pack certain items and the representative replied extremely promptly to all emails with the exact information that we needed. We also had to request a few "special" accomodations as part of our move. We needed the move to begin a little later in the day than Marathon told us they normally start (this was due to rules in the building that we were moving out of) and we needed them to bring materials to protect carpets in common areas in the building. The representative told us that this was no problem and that he'd make note of it for the crew for moving day. As promised, Marathon called us a couple of days prior to our move date to confirm everything. Moving Day Moving day was a phenomenal experience. The crew called us about 20 minutes before they arrived to let us know that they were on their way (and they showed up at exactly the time we had requested). They came prepared to adhere to our "special" instructions related to protecting the carpets. The 3-man crew worked quickly, but carefully and efficiently. It was obvious that all three members of the crew were experienced - they walked in the door, sized things up, and immediately came up with their plan for getting everything onto the truck. Every piece of furniture was quickly wrapped in blankets to protect it. There were a few things that we thought were going to be challenging for the crew, but each time, they attacked it like it was a fun challenge for them that keeps their jobs interesting and acted like absolutely nothing would faze them. When we got to the new place, they unpacked everything quickly and efficiently. They provided some tips on where to put a few pieces of furniture and they were adamant that they wanted to make sure that they put things in the exact spots we wanted them (even when we said that it was okay to put something somewhere and we could move it ourselves at a later time, they kept telling us that they wanted to get things the way we wanted them). After everything was unloaded from the truck, they took us room-by-room and confirmed that everything was exactly where we wanted it. The move took almost exactly the amount of time that had been estimated for us (yet another piece of evidence that Marathon really knows their business). The next time we move, we're definitely calling Marathon.

I contacted Marathon concerning a move from a house in Scituate to Assisted Living in Hingham. I got a call back from their Sales Manager when promised. Lucas McGary arrived promptly for our appointment. He was guided through the home by one of the owners, and his demeanor was firendly, un-hurried, and attentive. When we sat to discuss the move details and cost, the homeowner and I noticed right away that Mr. McGary treated the senior homeowner appropriately and respectfully. So often, professionals treat the senior person in a group as incapable of understanding anything, and directs communication to whomever else is there. Even knowing that my role was that of Move Coordinator for the family, Mr. McGary fully honored the status of the elderly owner as the purchaser of their services, and thus, the primary decision-maker. When necessary, it was she who determined when a decision should be deferred to me. He discussed pricing candidly and clearly. We were pleasantly surprised. He even agreed to make a quick detour during the move to dispense of a couple of large items . He emailed us his written estimate within hours of his visit. And he waited to hear from us. Unexpectedly, the homeowners were offered a free move with another company. We were all disappointed that we would not have the opportunity to hire Marathon Movers. I notified Mr. McGary, and he was most gracious. I look forward to doing business with Marathon in the future.

They overestimated the time it would take to make the move. I was pretty satisfied with the service.

The crew showed up on time and ready to work. We were moving out of a 4th floor walkup and the amount of stairs didn't phase these guys at all. They were extreamly professional and very good at what they were doing. All the furniture was wrapped before taking it out and I didn't see any marks on any walls or furniture. Most importantly they beat the estimate by over $500. I would recommend Marathon to anyone that asks. You can't go wrong.

Our experience with Marathon was great. Lucas came out to do the estimate for us, and was available after the fact to answer all of my last minute questions - which he answered promptly. The movers were scheduled to arrive anywhere between 7:30 and 8:30 am and they were there at 7:30 sharp. We had a crew of 4 movers and 2 trucks. All 4 guys were great. The crew was led by Al - they explained the process from start to finish. They worked quickly but efficiently, had a great sense of humor and personalities. Our stuff arrived in Hopkinton without a dent or scratch and nothing was broken or damaged in the process. These guys made moving as painless as it could be. I would highly recommend them and would definitely hire them again if need be.

Kathy Keane represented Marathon Movers with professionalism, compassion and instantaneous responsiveness. On short notice, she came to my home in Boston, gave me an accurate and affordable estimate for transporting 5 rooms of furniture including a grand piano from a second floor walk-up in Boston to an apartment in Beachwood, Ohio. The move went smoothly with Kathy's thoughtful encouragement getting me through the daunting process. She would call me periodically to make sure everything was going along on schedule and on track and expected to hear updates from me regarding the progress being made whether the reports were good or not. If Kathy Keane is a representation of what Marathon Movers is all about, then hurray for them!!! I would recommend Marathon Movers and Kathy Keane to anyone planning a move, no matter how far or near. e
