Contacted the team at Capital Construction about painting the exterior of our house as well as some spot repair work to the cedar shingles in advance of painting. We were looking to do this work in preparation for selling our house. The team at Capital Construction was very responsive and came out within a day or two to provide an estimate. We talked about what portions of the siding needed repair (we have one side of the house that is south facing and bakes in the sun pretty much year round. Because we are looking to sell our house we talked about not wanting to reside the entire house but doing the right think in terms of getting problem spots repaired and getting the whole house painted so it looks sharp and fresh. The team provided an estimate after a couple of days that was consistent with the other estimates we received. Unfortunately, the our schedules did not align (the timing of when we wanted to get the house on the market and when they could get out to do the work did not align). Had schedules aligned better we likely would have worked with the team.

For our original work (the leaking roof repair) Capital was quick to come out to and provide a quote. They showed up exactly at the time they said they would for the repair and they were done with the repair (which hasn't leaked in the five years since) before their estimated time. For our major work on the windows, they were also very quick to do a walk through/assess the building (it turned out that the windows needed re-sealing, the brink needed re-pointing and some of the sills needed replacement as a result of the leaking water). They were very prompt in providing a quote and were responsive both via email and by phone. The window work was fairly major and required moving furniture/sanding and other messy activities. Capital came into our building like elves at night and completed their work and there was never a mess left behind in the morning. They vacuumed and dusted or whatever was necessary so that the only indication that they'd been there was the freshly painted sills (and the total lack of leaks). We have always been happy with the quality of work done by Capital Construction. We work with a number of contractors, and few, if any, are as responsive and as helpful as Capital Construction. They show up when they say they'll be there, they charge a fair rate for their work and when you have an emergency situation they do not leave you in the lurch. We wholeheartedly endorse them and their work.

Super ! The schedule started off a bit slow due to conflicts, is often happens in any situation. These guys always take on the situation to get it done and understand when it is important!!! I've used Dave and Jude multiple times for two of our properties; we are never disappointed. More importantly, the do it right and if some additional things pop up they usually take care of it without changing the quote. In other terms, they have the correct work ethic.

Given the great reviews Capital Construction received, I had high expectations and those expectations were easily met and more. David and his team were responsive, honest, fair, and timely. They kept us in the loop throughout the entire process and were very open to our suggestions. The work itself came out great and of incredibly high quality. I will certainly use Capital again in the future.

The gutter cleaning was an Angie's Deal. The provider corresponded with us primarily through messaging on Angies List. They came on time and performed the service well. Would use them again.

They charged us pretty reasonably, and preformed well. However, it was a little hard to get their responses. Once they showed up, they are quite friendly.

Capital Construction performed a thorough water test on my roof to identify potential leak sources. They found 3 trouble spots and patched them accordingly. They were required to remove parts of my roofdeck to get to the source of the leak and were great about restoring the deck to its original condition once they were finished. They also corrected problems I had with a leaky gutter and loose downspout. Very professional and friendly people. Would definitely use them again. I haven't noticed any new water stains on my ceiling since they completed their work.

We have worked with David and his team before. We had an excellent experience and are very happy with the result. The removed our old roof, installed a new one, and build a new roof deck. All around outstanding job and we have had no issues since.

The window people arrived a little late the first day due to traffic, but called to keep me posted of their arrival time. They worked for two (2) days removing the old and installing the new windows. I had some concerns with the finish work and called the foreman (Jude). He called the head installer (Scott) who called me within a couple of hours. He listened to and responed to my concerns regarding the finish work and returned to my home to take care of the issue. The painter was due the day after the windows were installed, which would have made this a 3-day job, as planned. However, he was one day behind. (I don't know this person's name). The day he did arrive, he didn't do much and it was obvious he made himself at home in my home. I called Jude and advised I did not want that painter back and would hire my own if no other was available. Jud was obviously shocked and he and the head of the painting department, Aaron, came to my home to speak to me, apologizing stating that this type of thing had never happened before. Nothing was taken or damaged mind you, he just didn't do much work and talked on the phone. Aaron,stated he would come, alone, and agreed to be there at a specified time. True to his word, he arrived on time and got straight to work. He did a beautiful job and I am very pleased with Capital and my windows. They are very professional and responsive.

The 3rd floor back deck on our triple decker was beginning to sag in the middle because some support brackets underneath were getting loose. Different contractors who looked at it had different opinions about repairing it ranging from "you need to rebuild the whole thing" to "let's jack it up and reinforce it". We went with the latter approach offered by Capital. Communication was a little slow initially in terms of the time to receive the estimate and then schedule the work, but the 6 week total process wasn't bad. The work was completed in one day as we had discussed. We'll use them again.

I cannot say enough good things about Dave, Jude and Aaron and all of the people that worked on our home. We initially contacted Capital Construction based on the positive reviews on Angie's List when we were in need of getting an estimate to replace the original skylight on our home which was built in 1890. Leaks had caused damage to the walls and ceiling areas in the third floor stairwell as well as the bathroom that the huge skylight hovered over. Jude arrived on time for our appointment, which in itself was refreshing since we have dealt with many contractors over the years that arrive on their own schedule or not at all. Jude went onto the roof, took pictures, took notes, had us come up onto the roof with him so he could point out what needed to be done and explained everything to us. He told us he would get back to us within a few days with a written estimate and he did. We agreed to the $21,000 price to replace the skylight, rebuild the box around the skylight, remove the existing roof and replace the roof and flashing. The crew showed up every day on time, removed all the debris and cleaned up every day. I am happy to report that not a drop of water has come into the house since this work was completed and we have had some heavy rains and snowfall these past few months. We were so happy with our experience with Capital Construction with the roof that we put a list together of other projects that we had placed on the back burner and asked Jude and Dave to return and give us an estimate to complete these projects. There was water damage to ceilings and walls in the stairwell, bathroom and closet that needed to be repaired and painted . That work was completed as well as replacing a drafty window, installing a tile backsplash in the kitchen, installing a tile floor in a walk in closet, installing a new bathroom vanity, sink, faucet and shower head, re-grout the bathroom floor, installing a new ceiling and crown molding in the bedroom as well as painting walls, ceilings and woodwork. Probably the most dramatic change was the installation of portrait molding in the dining room. The finish carpentry is perfect for the period of the house. I highly recommend Capital Construction. You will be presented with a detailed estimate and the peace of mind that they are fully insured. They are professional, pleasant, arrive on time, work a full day and show up daily until the project is complete. When the project was completed, Dave came by for a walk through to make sure that we were satisfied with the quality of their work.. We are so pleased, we will have them back in the spring to paint the outside of the house. I am thrilled that we found Capital Construction.

David is great. His team is friendly, gets the job done, and does a great job. David did two repairs for me, both of which were small jobs that a lot of roofers wouldn't want to take on. He's responsive and shows up on time.

10/14 - I purchased the service on Angie's List. 10/24 - Provider sent me an Angie's List message asking me to contact him to make appt. 11/7 - I sent a message back, providing possible date/time and left my cell phone number. 12/4 - Hadn't heard from the provider, so I sent another message. Still haven't heard back. First, my side of the street - I waited nearly 2 weeks after his message to respond. That is on me. But, I have sent two contacts (haven't called him directly yet - guess that is on me, too) and not heard back a word. If I hadn't already paid for the service ($224), I would definitely choose another provider. As it is, I would just like to get my gutters cleaned or get a refund. I am not sure what expectations are around responsiveness of service providers on Angie's List and whether communication through Angie's List is the preferred communication channel. Since he reached out to me that way initially, I am thinking that I should have heard from him by now. My other experiences on Angie's List (Furnace/Heating and landscaping) have been excellent. I would like to give a grade of "incomplete" but that is not an option.

Very professional and detected and reported an issue with my chimney brickwork which needed repair.

Bought a big deal for $249 for complete house gutter cleaning. They emailed me saying they could come on a tuesday. I told them I couldn't be there at the time they mentioned. I never heard back from them. Then I called a few times. Finally I got someone who said they did the job already and sent me photos. He only sent photos of a few of the gutters. I have no idea if the others were cleaned. UPDATE: Jude did call me back to follow up and we are working to find a time for him to come back out and review the work with me again

They did a good job cleaning the gutters and removing debris. After the roof inspection we were given a recommendation of replacing the roof with a cost of roughly $13,000 and that were shingles missing and indications that roof needed to be replaced. We also were told we would be sent photos. We got three other estimates for the roof and were told each time that the roof did not need replacing, and that only a few shingles needed to be replaced.

Jude did a thorough job cleaning my gutters, which were very dirty as the company I used to use did not come out last fall, so there was two years of leaf accumulation. He took his time with the cleaning, and when he was finished, he swept the deck where debris had fallen. He also checked my roof and reported to me on its condition. I have a very large house, so I know the work to go up and down those ladders with buckets is considerable. Jude was professional and very nice to boot. I plan to use this company again.

I would hire them for a future job.

From the moment I spoke with David to the day they concluded the work, I was very pleased with the whole experience. First and most important, the competence of their work and the quality of the cedar shingles were first rate. Every man who worked on the house was professional, polite, and pleasant and the experience was without problem. I would highly recommend this company, without reservation, to anyone.

They were here for roughly an hour. It's a third floor house so it's hard to tell how good the work actually was. However, they were very polite, nice and on time. They also cleaned up after themselves. My only problem was that a part of my gutter came off and I didn't know if it was due to the cleaning. So, I called to have them come back and fix it. I am currently waiting on them to come and fix the gutters.

My sister who co-manages my mother's house with me contacted the company and had a nice conversation with a man who promised to call when he was in the Newton area. No call back was ever received.
