Description of Work: Two laptops, two iPhones, and a lot of housekeeping to do. Julie came to my home and sorted through a backlog of minor problems and helped set up procedures for moving forward. I can't remember the precise charge, but it was reasonable and an hourly rate was guaranteed in advance.

+ -1 moreJoshua knows his business and does excellent work. We are extremely happy with his service on an ongoing basis. But we have given him a "C" in professionalism because he has chosen to leave the country for a five week vacation and has made absolutely no provision for a backup service to handle emergency problems while he is gone. HIs only suggested solution: if there is a problem, take the machine to an Apple store. However he knows, as we do, that many of the problems that can unexpectedly occur with Mac computers are not things that the Apple store can or will fix. This is no way to run a business and, while we will continue to use him and have full confidence in his knowledge and ability, we feel others should be aware of this one shortcoming.

Description of Work: I asked Joshua for advice on my 2 elderly Macs as well as to help me sync my computers, iPhone and iPad. He did all of this and more: he installed RAM, synced my devices, and helped me with a number of other problems. He also advised me on the timing of buying a new computer. He returned a few days after our initial appointment as I had run into some problems. Once again, he proved his expertise, proficiency and conviviality. An added bonus, Joshua is fun to work with. + -1 moreMy hard drive crashed, and my financial data from the past 15 years appeared to be lost (yes, I had backed-up - using MOZY). I was at my wits end when Joshua returned my call. He was out-of-town, but offered to look at the files, which I emailed to him. He said he'd put in a half hour, and not charge me if he couldn't fix them. The next morning, I got the good news. He spent an hour and a half, but he was able to open the files. Needless to say, I was thrilled. Unfortunately, I was still not able to open the files on my own computer, because my OS and Quicken did not match his. He said he could do the fix again, on my computer, when he returned to town. Or, I could spend that money to upgrade my OS and Quicken. When he got back, he spent another 3 hours at my home, installing more RAM and upgrading software, showing me how to use the new OS, helping me organize my files, setting up a better back-up system, and making sure all my data was restored to my computer. He was prompt, pleasant, and endlessly patient. Of course I'm not pleased about spending $450 to do what MOZY was supposed to do in the first place - but I'm very glad to have found Joshua.
Description of Work: repaired corrupted files! also installed new RAM, upgraded OS, Quicken, and Word, and gave general computer tutorial and back-up advice. Note that $70 of the fee was for the new RAM.

+ -1 moreActually had Josh over to set up Bootcamp which we did until we got to the place where we needed to install a Windows CD, which I didn't have. That was put on hold. After adjusting the settings to send and receive faxes, he tested it to be certain it worked properly. Josh is a good teacher and a patient guy.
Description of Work: Made adjustments so that I could send and receive faxes through my computer. Instructed me in the use of my new printer, utilizing it via the printer itself and through the computer.
