Kevin and his crew repaired a water main break in March/2019. They arrived at the time they said they would and repaired the pipe. Ken is a good communicator and responds to ALL messages. Price is VERY fair, no price gouging! Their description 'Honest and Reliable' is true. I very rarely post reviews for contractors and have been meaning to post one for KB Aruda. I am impressed because they are one of the hardest working, reliable contractors that gets the job done! My family has owned our building for close to 50 years, and it's rare to see a truly good contractor in recent years that does very good and honest work ...KB Aruda performs work the way it should be done!

Work was completed in a timely and satisfactory manner. Only complaint was the overall communication. We had to follow up multiple times to confirm project schedule and arrival time. Arrived an hour later than planned one morning which hindered our schedule.

KB Aruda did a terrific job with the emergency repair of a blocked sewer line. They were extremely responsive, and started work the day after I called. The work was carried out in the middle of the winter, and required pulling up a long section of brick driveway, which they did with great care and patience (even though this brick could later not be replaced). During the work, it became clear that the connection to the main sewer needed flushing in order to properly re-connect the sewer. Even though this meant an entire day of added work, the team stayed patient, thorough, focused, and professional and did not exceed the budget. They also helped with securing the downspout that happened to fall off the roof during their work. Afterwards, the driveway needed to be re-paved. I asked for several modifications, including re-grading the driveway, and they included them all in their work. When it became clear that my homeowner?s insurance might cover a portion of the costs, Kevin was very flexible and approachable in providing me with appropriate paperwork for this claim. I highly recommend Kevin and his team for the great value and meticulous work they provide, as well as for their competitive pricing and professionalism. Thanks Kevin!

Not well, never finished the job.

Stopped responding to my emails.

They were a pleasure to deal with and their price came in $200 under the other bid. Everything went fine. It was all done in a few hours. Kevin was easy to deal with. I even asked if they could move an old tree trunk that was in the basement next to the water pipe that had been there for decades from when I bought the house. They were very cordial and did this extra work, refusing payment for it and rolling it up the bulkhead stairs into my garden. The water volume in the house has changed, as promised. We are very happy.

We had the common problom of the sewage line leaking into the storm drain system. The City of Boston had alerted us. Mr Aruda and his associates did a wonderful job explaining what they were going to do (Insert liner) and got the job done without any problems. Since our house is almost 100 years old and the sewage line is not straighth, he had to open an area in our basement and did this efficiently and cleanly.He was courteous, prompt and professional. A great experience.

We had an appointment that slipped quite a bit. They did get us in by year-end which others were not willing to do. Did not seem totally prepared and work took longer than expected. We did incur additional expense not covered in initial bid due to lack of planning.

They have not done the work. The dimension of the area where the work would be done is about five by seven at the most. The man who called me back was very nice on the phone but he took a long time to actually get back to me and a long time after he came to visit to give me the quote. Everyone is very busy right now and I think that it is lucky that I was not urgently looking for someone because it was literally like weeks between when I talked to him and when he came out and at least another week between when he came out and I got the quote. The experience was fine. There was nothing unpleasant about it but it did not blow my mind either. He said that he could do it but it was clear that it was too small a job for them to be interested in and he just said, "Well, we have to charge you our day rate." He was not willing to customize his pricing for my job. I am not sure why you have to charge someone a day rate for a job that only takes three hours. Their punctuality was fine. I got a text after I called him and said that I liked him to come out. He said that he would get back to me. A long time has passed and I never heard from him and then one morning at about 8:00 AM, I got a text saying, "So, did you want me to come over at 8:30?" And I replied to him via text, "I am sorry. I think you have the wrong person. I contacted you getting a quote and I never heard back." And he said, "Oh, I sent you an email. You must not have gotten it. Are you available this morning at 8:30?" And I said, "Well, yes I am." And so he did come by around that time. He showed up when he said that he would. He was perfectly nice. His professionalism was fine. I might consider using them for a different job. I just think that more than $2,000 is way too much for this tiny job.

After his guys came and cut 2 out of the 4 drain pipes and fed them out to the street and the side yard, they quit and left saying that they had no more pipe material to finish the job. When he had initially looked at the job and made a proposal, he promised there was enough pipe material to do the job. Well, they never did come back and finish the job. At least he proposed that he not charge me any money because I was so unhappy, but the work that was partially done was done very poorly and now I have two gaping holes where the pipes used to feed into the house. I would never use these guys again. I have a new company coming out to finish the job and they could not believe the shoddy job these guys left.

Kevin and crew did a great job. Very responsive from the first call. Very happy with their work. They hand dug a trench which contained a gas line as well as the water line, removed the blown curb stop valve and replaced a section of cracked PVC water line that they found was leaking. They had to both remove, save and then replace the pave stone driveway bricks (without damaging them) in order to do the dig. Not easy. They did a great job. The water issue is fixed. The driveway pave stones were replaced back so that there is no evidence that the work was ever done, as everything looks like it did originally. I would recommend them simply given the care that was used in doing the job, though their price was also very competitive. All in all, very happy I went with them.

After he came to look at the site, I never heard from him again. If the job wasn't right for him, I would expect him to say so bluntly. If he was really good, he'd give me the name of another contractor who he thought could do the job. (One contractor I contacted didn't want to work in Newton and said so and recommended 2 others who did.)

I have to echo the comment of another reviewer that Kevin Aruda is perhaps the best contractor I have hired for any project or repair. He immediately returned my initial call and set up a meeting for a visual inspection the same afternoon. He gave me his assessment of what was causing the clog and what it would take to repair it. He provided a verbal quote on the spot and when I called back later in the day to tell him I wanted to go forward, he prepared a detailed written proposal which I received the next day. Kevin?s quote was not the lowest I received (that contractor didn't?t believe in written proposals, however) but it was far from the highest (and that contractor?s proposal wasn't?t nearly as inclusive as Kevin?s.) The job site presented some challenges which did not seem to bother Kevin and his crew in the least. The work was completed in one day and the job site was restored to its original appearance. (The street and sidewalk were actually cleaner than they?d been before the work was done.) I chose K. B. Aruda Construction because of the confidence Kevin inspired and the professional manner in which he conducted himself. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone requiring excavation and drain repair/replacement services.

We recently had an inspector come with potential buyers to take a look at our condo building. This inspector spotted what he thought was a brownish sludgy drip near joint on a waste pipe prior to it leaving the building. So after getting on Angie's List to see people who could handle this, we called K B Aruda and the plumber I spoke with said he was in the neighborhood and could come by within 20-30 min or so. Lo and behold, he wiped it off and discovered the nature of the brown goo. A laundry detergent bottle on a shelf above dripped on it and it mixed with some of the surface rust on the old pipe and looked, frankly, really gross. Where is was positioned, it looked kind of like it was coming from the seam. The plumber smiled and said it looks like everything is fine here and wished us well. Since K B Aruda was very professional, prompt and honest (in addition to having a good reputation to begin with), we would surely recommend them to others in our area.

.Kevin gave me a very reasonable estimate...was responsive to all my calls and emails...prompt and courteous. Unfortunately, I went with another offer...should have gone with Kevin.

Kevin responded promptly to my call, explained the alternative methods of repairing or replacing the pipe, and repaired the pipe with very little disruption and at a reasonable cost.

Our sewer broke in the middle of the Christmas holidays while our house was crowded with guests and small children. Kevin came to the rescue with the lowest bid, and the ability to get permits that other bidders thought they couldn't get (because the town would not allow the street to be dug up before the weather was warmer). He had the work done quickly and as far as we could tell, very well. Everything went according to plan. We could use the plumbing indoors and the street looked as though almost nothing had happened to it in two or three days.

We were astonished at the diligence, professionalism and follow-through. They worked through the storm (non-stop for 36 hours now) and kept us up and running. Our lot is immaculate and they were kind and thoughtful to our residential neighbors: piling snow out of the way, considerate of cars and pedestrians and even helping out a few in need. Kevin and Katie, and the rest of you, you are amazing.

They came the day they said they would and were on time. They started work right away. They repaired both the sewer and the drain pipes in the street. They had some problems digging, concrete over the pipes and incorrect pass repairs. They didn't let any of those problems get in their way. They did what was needed, purchased extra pipe fittings etc. and still completed the work that day. As I said before this was the best contractor experience in 50 years of home ownership and in my business.

Was done faster than expected

Kevin Aruda came out and did a thorough inspection of the premises. I'd had many people come out to provide estimates. The questions he asked, the professionalism he showed and the customer minded suggestions and accommodations he offered to make - including interactively working with me on the price - easily put him at the top of my list. That he's incredibly nice, too, was a bonus factor. Through no fault of his own, I ended up with a different provider. A call or email I thought I'd made to Kevin to set things up either didn't go through or, it's just as possible that I only thought I sent it. The city red tape was tremendously compounded by neighbor issues that went on for months, so it made things very difficult to manage. Kevin politely called after a short time to follow up. Thinking he'd passed on the work as several had already done (it was a heck of a hornet's nest to take on), I'd committed to my second choice. I highly recommend him and his services.
