Great, Alex gave us a lot of information and answered all of our questions and concerns, we were very happy with the experience.

Alex was very thorough. He looked at everything in that house from top to bottom and explained what he was doing as he went. He was very happy to answer all our questions. He also provided follow-up clarification and recommendations over the phone after the inspection. He was conscientious, showed up on time, emailed us a copy of his report that very day, and mailed it soon after. I would highly recommend him. Yes, he is on the expensive side! But in this case I would say it is a drop in the bucket compared to the price of buying a home with undiscovered flaws. I did notice some minor items in his report that he did not mention verbally while we were at the house. I assume he just forgot what he'd discussed with us and what he didn't.

They were very thorough in their inspection and did a great job.

Alex is meticulous, knowledgeable, and very personable. I have met several home inspectors and he far outshines the rest.

This is my fourth home purchase, and in my opinion Alex is by far the best home inspector I have used. By "best", I mean that (a) he has great expertise and knowledge about residential properties; (b) he takes his time and does an extremely thorough, detailed inspection; (c) he explains his findings in a patient, accessible way, both during the inspection and through his report; and (d) he was helpful in discussing the bigger picture, e.g. various options for dealing with some wetness in the basement. He was very professional but also friendly. I highly recommend him. Separately, I read some reports here that his prices are on the high side. This was not my experience (I got three estimates), but even if he does charge somewhat more, in my opinion he's well worth it.

Alex was prompt and professional. He identified minor problems in common areas (eg roof, boiler room) that our condo association wasn't aware of. His explanations of how the building's systems work were extremely informative. He sent his report by email the same day, and a hard copy arrived a few days later. The report was thorough, written in accessible language, and helped us prioritize which repairs must be done now vs those that can wait. Alex also made several helpful observations about liability issues that we'll have to keep in mind if we decide to rent instead of sell.

Alex arrived early and was very patient when I called to say I'd be a little late. He did an incredibly thorough job and made sure that I understood everything that he pointed out to me. He also recapped all the things he found before he left each room. By the end of the 3 hour inspection, I had a great sense of what needed to be fixed and what things were going to cost.

Alex was very thorough and helpful. He answered all of my questions and even told me other questions I should ask as I obtained quotes from other home inspectors. We would have loved to work with him, but he was not available when we needed an inspection on short notice. ($450)

CALLED BACK RIGHT AWAY, GAVE ME A PRICE OVER THE PHONE, HIS PRICE WAS MORE THAN OTHER 2 BIDS. VERY PROFESSIONAL.

The inspection went great! We were so impressed by how Alex covered every detail and by some of his special tools that allowed him to assess moisture levels in the basement, etc. Alex was very articulate regarding his observations, and he was also open to answering all of our questions and making himself available beyond the inspection. The report we received was great (filled with helpful tips, notes and details and very well written), and it will be helpful to us when we actually move into the home and need to remember how to maintain it.

Excellent service. Alex was on time, and very polite and effective. He listened to our concerns, and performed a thorough inspection of the basement, roof, and siding. He was able to figure out details of the house's construction history, and he recommended a good maintenance plan. He saved us from doing expensive work that was not needed, and he recommended some work that we would not otherwise have thought of.

We found Alex through our real estate agent and couldn't have been happier. Alex was awesome. He was both personable and knowledgeable. Since this was our first time purchasing a home, we had a lot of questions - he answered them all (and without making us feel stupid). He was able to point out a few problems which we would never have found on our own, and we got them resolved before we bought the house and received a credit from the seller because of the plumbing issues he caught.

I'm sure Mr. Steinberg felt he was being helpful in referring me elsewhere, but I was disappointed in having my inquiry dismissed so lightly, without really paying attention to the question being asked. I am not sure if I would hire this company in the future.

Alex was recommended by my broker. He described his inspection procedure over the phone. We spent over 3 hours examining a 100-year-old duplex condo unit. Alex was quite thorough, exposing problems unknown to current unit owners. Alex provided a detailed written report by email later that day with recommendations for action in both short and long term.

He was very thorough and very knowledgeable about anything we had questions on. He was very straight-forward with his answers. He was a pleasure to work with.

I thought Alex did a very thorough job. He got there early and spent a good deal of time going over the outside of the house, in the pouring rain. He spent a solid three hours and was very meticulous finding many things that I would never have noticed. He took the time to thoroughly explain his findings as we went along and answer questions I had. His written report was very complete (no pictures though), and I've asked a few follow-up questions via email which he has happily (and quickly) responded to. I would certainly use Alex again.

Alex came highly recommended from both Angie's List members and an acquaintance who recently worked with him. I was very disappointed that we couldn't make the scheduling work, but he recommended Highland Home Inspections in Newton and David Rossinow did a fantastic job.

He is highly recommended. He isn't the cheapest on the block - but buying a home especially for us as first time home buyers. This is not the time to get a rubber stamp from a cheaper company or the real estate agent's hired gun. Use Alex, you won't regret it.

ALEX RETURNED OUR CALL PROMPTLY & SCHEDULED AN INSPECTION WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK. AFTER VIEWING THE AREAS OF THE BASEMENT WHERE WE SUSPECTED WATER DAMAGE, ALEX EXPLAINED THE SEDIMENT ON OUR RAFTERS WAS ACTUALLY CONCRETE LEFT OVER FROM THE ORIGINAL CONSTRUCTION OF THE HOUSE & NOT A PROBLEM. HE WENT OVER ALL THE AREAS WITH A MOISTURE SENSOR JUST TO CONFIRM, & CHARGED US HALF HIS USUAL FLAT RATE BECAUSE THE VISIT WAS SO QUICK.

EXCELLENT WORK. I LOVED THE WAY ALEX EXPLAINED ALL THE THINGS THAT HE CHECKED, THE RESULTS, THE NEAT WAY HE HELPED ME UNDERSTAND THE HOUSE, SINCE IT WAS MY FIRST HOME PURCHASE. HE TOOK TIME AND WAS VERY PATIENT WITH MY QUESTIONS AND ALSO SHOWED ME WHAT TO DO, HOW TO TURN OFF THE WATER MAIN, HOW THE FURNACE WAS HOOKED UP, ETC. REALLY WAS A VERY PLEASANT EXPERIENCE

ALEX IS VERY THOROUGH AND PLEASANT TO DEAL WITH.

ALEX RESPONDED PROMPTLY, QUOTES HIS SERVICES ACCURATELY AND WAS HELPFUL IN BEING FLEXIBLE ON SHORT NOTICE FOR A BOOKING. HE DID A CAREFUL, THOUGHTFUL JOB ON THE INSPECTION, INCLUDING WRITING UP AND PROMPTLY DELIVERING A DETAILED AND ACCURATE REPORT. HE CORRECTLY IDENTIFIED AN IMPORTANT STRUCTURAL DEFECT AND OTHER SIGNIFICANT ISSUES IN THE PROPERTY THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE CAUGHT ON MY OWN. AS A RESULT, I DID NOT PURCHASE THE PROPERTY. HE IS *NOT* FAST (THE INSPECTION LASTED CLOSE TO 4.5 HOURS), NOR IS HE INEXPENSIVE. BECAUSE HIS EXPERIENCE IS SOLELY AS AN INSPECTOR, NOT AS AN EXPERIENCED CONTRACTOR, THERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS HE'S NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO ANSWER, BUT HE IS VERY GOOD ABOUT ANSWERING QUESTIONS AND BEING HONEST REGARDING THE LIMITS OF HIS KNOWLEDGE. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT HE HELPED ME AVOID AN EXPENSIVE MISTAKE AND I APPRECIATED HIS DILIGENCE.
