JBS HOME INSPECTIONS

Alex arrived early at the home, along with an assistant who was in training. My wife and I got there about 15 minutes ahead of time and met them outside the home. We accompanied Alex as he performed a thorough inspection, teaching us many things along the way, both outside and inside the home, and patiently answering questions. I feel like we got a nice education along the way, and Alex is very pleasant so the experience was a good one. Most importantly, I feel like he got to all parts of the house, from basement to attic. He found active knob and tube wiring in the (difficult to access) attic, potentially saving us a lot of hassle down the road. While there may be less expensive options for inspections out there, this is not an area to skimp and we feel Alex's inspection was well worth it.

Tracey was early to the inspection to inspect the exterior of the house. She was pleasant and knowledgeable. Most importantly, she was thorough. At the end of the inspection we received a 50+ page report with photos and lengthy descriptions of the repairs needed. She even gave us some general homeowners information and tips that we found to be helpful since we are first-time homebuyers.The listing agent said he found it hard to negotiate the final P&S since he was faced with overwhelming evidence. Our experience was awesome.

We were looking for a home inspector who can give us an objective list of repairs we should make on our house based on priority and urgency. We saw this as an investment to our investment. We considered using the inspector who inspected our house when we first purchased it, but decided that a new set of eyes wouldn't hurt. JBS Home Inspections was at the top of Angie's List, so they were the first I called. And from that very first phone call, I was sold. The woman who answered the phone (sorry, I forgot her name) was polite and professional. More importantly, she was patient. A lot of vendors I've called always seem to be in a hurry and never really fully understand your needs. But she listened to everything I had to say first and was able to properly assess what exactly I needed. She then referred me to speak to Alex who conducted the actual inspection. Since we weren't buying or selling our home, this was purely more for informational purposes only. But, even so, we had the same expectations for Alex as we would if we were buying or selling. Alex not only offered a Saturday appointment (unheard of these days), but he was there on time and ready go. Alex was extremely thorough, exactly what you need from an inspector. After almost 3 hours walking around and inside the house (I accompanied him throughout, and he showed me things as we went along), he sat down with me and went over everything he inspected. And then, he prioritized the items he recommended we repair first. As an example, Alex found 3 separate gas leaks in our basement. With a baby in the house, this was definitely something we needed to know about. Alex was easy to talk to, patient and very knowledgeable. Alex provided everything we asked for and needed, all in a very pleasant and stress free way. I highly recommend Alex and JBS Home Inspections.

We had a home inspection done by Alex a month ago for a family home we will be purchasing. We did not need a written official report done so he performed a consulting inspection where he walked around the house and we took notes. Alex was so thorough and informative, not one detail was left untouched. He was so friendly and open to all our many questions. He offered suggestions when we asked. He inspected the whole house including the garage, trees and entire yard. I would never use anyone else for a home inspection again. In fact it was so informative we will hire them every 5 years or so to keep us up to date on the health of our house!

The service was wonderful. It was exactly what I told him I needed when I set up the appointmnt.

Alex came to the house early and was on the roof when I arrived. After showing me pictures of various issues on the roof, he got down on his hands and knees and climbed into small openings to get under several porches and stairways. He was very thorough and professional. His detailed inspection uncovered a number of items that would have been difficult for anyone to find. He is very dogged in his inspection and goes to great lengths to get access to beams and supporting structures. His analysis quickly lead me to conclude that this house was not right for me. As to the price, you can find cheaper prices. However, the service was invaluable to me and the price was more than fair considering the professionalism and thoroughness of Alex's inspection, Would highly recommend this company.

He provided a lot of additional information. He let me trail along, he described what he was doing in great detail, and he was a wealth of information. I thought it was generous to give advice even though I wasn’t paying for it. I would definitely use him again.

The inspection was thorough and he has very helpful in explaining the systems in the house, as well as providing suggestions for energy energy efficiency improvements. The roof inspection was done primarily from the ground, and a small section that was accessible from a window. We had already had someone inspect the roof and had pictures of the roof and chimney that were included in the report, but I think some of the issues on the roof and chimney might have been missed without actually being on the roof. The report was available through an online service later the same days as the inspection.

The home inspector that we had used previously was unavailable, so we turned to JBS home inspections, the only company I called that was able to get in an inspection immediately. Alex, the inspector, arrived early, and started the inspection right away. He did a very thorough job. We already knew about $100K of needed repairs on the property, and Alex brought items to our attention that added about $30K. He took about 3 hours to inspect the entire property, and got us a typed report later the same day.

Good, quality home inspection. Freindly and professional and helped identify a potential sill issue that was successfully negotiated with the seller. The inspection report was available about 8 hours after the inspection via the online portal. Easy to forward and/or print the report. I would recommend JBS to others.

After calling a number of inspectors in our area, we settled on Tracey to do our inspection based on reputation and competitive pricing. She did an incredibly thorough job and emailed us the full report with many photos just a few hours after we left the property. She did an incredible job of explaining what things were more urgent than others and gave us tips for fixing the minor issues that were found. She also gave us a free radon test for finding her through Angie's List! Our realtor was so impressed by her that he plans to recommend her to future clients. We are very pleased!

The inspector (Tracey) did a very thorough job. She never seemed annoyed no matter how many questions were asked. She was very professional and also very personable. She seemed to have great knowledge about her job, and worked objectively. It's my first ever home inspection, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but the quality of service and of the report for the price seemed very good.

I think it?s wise for the prospective home owner to tag along with the inspector. It?s the best way to learn firsthand what needs attention and at the moment is the easiest point to ask questions. The written report thus serves as more of a summary or reminder of the work that may be needed, if any. Many inspectors are very informative and very technical. Tracey was that but she was also very easy to understand and was not an alarmist. She has very good communication skills and as a home owner I think she did an excellent job in helping me to set my priorities in fixing and restoring my older home. I look forward to recommending her and JBS to my home buying clients. The free radon test was appreciated!

After reading reviews of Alex's service and professionalism on Angie's List, I went ahead and booked him for a home inspection on a property that I am potentially buying. I found him to be stellar. He picked up on many problems with the property that could have easily been overlooked. He showed up ahead of schedule and had begun inspecting the property even before I arrived. I would absolutely use his services again if the need arises. I felt the money spent was absolutely worth every penny and was confident that the inspection left no stone unturned.

I was very impressed with the service Alex provided. He responded quickly to my inquiry and was available within my time frame. He was incredibly thorough with the home inspection. I felt like he was giving my husband and I education about the home we were purchasing as he inspected it. The report he sent was very detailed with color photos.

Alex did a great job. He was very detailed, spending quite a bit of time in the basement boiler room and the roof in addition to the condo. He spoke about everything that ended up in the report in a way that was easy for us to understand. He found everything from minor to major problems. Although not the cheapest of the quotes we got, we felt we got our money's worth in the quality and time spent.

If spending a day watching a guy dive into crawl spaces and poke holes into termite-damaged wood isn't your idea of a good time (it certainly isn't ours...), do yourself a favor and CALL ALEX. He made the entire inspection -- can't believe I'm saying this -- an absolute pleasure! Oh, and his rates seems very reasonable, with radon monitoring test and Angie's List discount.

Tracey Litt, the JBS inspector who reviewed our intended condo purchase did an incredibley outstanding job. She was personable, knowledgeable and ultra-thorough. She explained in careful detail all her findings, taking extensive pictures. This resulted in a 48 page detailed report delivered the same day as the inspection. Our real estate broker examined the report and said that he had seen over 1500 such reports and this by far was the most complete and thorough one he had ever encountered. High praise indeed from a professional! Choose Tracey and you've done the best you can.

I asked to have the roof and gutters evaluated, but neglected to mention that he should look at the roof around the chimney flashing after his first visit. He did not look at this the first time in any detail, so he had to come back to the home. I told him I would pay him more to be fair, but the initial cost was $175 and to return to evaluate the chimney as well, (what in my opinion should have been evaluated the first time as PART of the roof and gutter evaluation). He then sent a bill $100 more than the initial cost for a total of $275! He did make two copies of the report for me that apparently cost another $14 dollars, but I thought that he overcharged me regardless, given the service rendered.

Alex did our inspection and we were very impressed with the very thorough job that he did. He arrived early and was willing to explain everything and stop and discuss anything that was concerning or of further interest. We really had the feeling that he was looking out for our best interest without being an alarmist. We received a 50 page report in less than 24 hours of the inspection and had the confidence to speak with the seller about problems that needed to be addressed prior to signing the purchase agreement. I have used several inspectors before and, while some services are less expensive, I highly recommend JBS for piece of mind and for the quality of their work.

If you want thorough and professional, JBS is the definition. Alex's attention to detail and comprehensive knowledge are nothing short of remarkable. Both of our agents said that they'd never seen someone do a better job. We were extremely impressed with the report, which we received within hours of the inspection's completion... it included an easy-to-read summary, was clearly divided into sections, addressed all issues clearly, and also included photo documentation (with arrows no less) of key issues which need to be resolved. Bottom line: why go with anyone else? A+++.

Our inspector was Alex Steinberg. We were very pleased with the quality and thoroughness of his inspection. He took all the time he needed to identify and understand potential issues, and explain them to me so that I would fully understand it. He covered every inch of the house, inside and outside. Perhaps most importantly, though Alex was required to document each and every potential concern, he put them into context for me so that I could focus on the issues that really needed attention. I would recommend Alex to any friend and be happy to have him on my home-buying team in the future.

After buying and selling several houses in the Boston area and dealing with home inspectors in each of those transactions, JBS' Tracey Litt is the most professional, knowledgeable, thorough home inspector I have ever encountered. From her preparatory review of the property before the inspection, including finding access to the roof of a row house, to the detailed report delivered by the end of the day, with pictures of all the items she noted during the inspection, this was 'best in class' service.
