They were mostly okay, but there were problems. He came back once. It rained in our bedroom and rained on our printer and ruined it. It rained on our furniture and he never called back. He was totally unresponsive. It was a complicated thing and we had four skylights that were leaking and he suggested a different thing to do. He suggested putting in one big skylight. He said that the skylight would be delivered on a Thursday and he would be there the following Monday with his crew to install it. It wasn?t delivered on time and he didn't install it. I called him and he didn't call me back for three weeks. When I spoke with him, he said that he had been on vacation. At that point I wanted the work done so I didn't get difficult with him. He finally did do the work and he did a good job. It was a complicated job and roofs are tricky. All the leaks were on the peripheral of the roof. I was calling and I'm always polite. My husband is in the building business and he said that I shouldn't expect anybody to do things right. I don't expect 100 percent, but I would have been happy with him showing up. Somebody said that 90 percent of life is showing up. We never had a quarrel about price. He said what he was going to charge and we paid him. He didn't wait for his check, so it wasn't like we were stiffing him and he was upset with us. I finally stopped calling; I had left messages. Unless he was very sick and couldn't return calls is the only reason that would explain his behavior. It was very disappointing. The work was badly done, but he did do a good job on the skylights. The price was fair. It wasn't a bargain and it was an expensive job. If you are professional and respect the work you do, you stand behind it and you make whatever repairs are necessary to put it to be a good job. It doesn't have to be a perfect job, but it better not rain in on the furniture. My hope would be that it be done and done right. I would not use him if he were the last roofer on the planet; I would live in a tent.

John Richard is amazingly considerate, fair, and honest. When we discovered a leak in the roof of our top floor condo unit, we contacted several well-respected roofers in the area and got 5 estimates before we talked to John Richard. Nearly all of the other roofers we talked to told us our roof was shot and wanted to replace it with a new ($20,000) rubber roof. John Richard, before even giving us an estimate or receiving any money from us, climbed up on the roof and patched the leak. He told us the roof was in great shape, it just needed to be re-sealed with a reflective material to help preserve it. He also repaired the flashing, re-pointed the chimney, and took care of a few other minor issues. All for a tenth of what the other roofers estimated! He's the best. He was kind of hard to get a hold of a few times, and it took him a while to get to our project (close to a month), but he patched the leak immediately and the rest of the work was preventative and not urgent. He's the best!

UTTERLY WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. JOHN RICHARD CAME AND TOOK A LOOK AT THE SKYLIGHT, GAVE US AN ESTIMATE OF $500 TO REPLACE IT, AND ON OUR GO AHEAD, WENT OUT AND ORDERED THE SKYLIGHT THE SAME DAY. HE RECEIVED AND REPLACED IT IN A MATTER OF DAYS, DESPITE THE FACT THAT HE WAS SUPER BUSY (EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO WATER COMING INTO THE HOUSE - THE ORIGINAL SKYLIGHT WAS DOUBLE PANED AND ONLY THE TOP PANE WAS BROKEN). HE DID A BEAUTIFUL JOB IN TERRIBLE WEATHER, AND WAS UNFAILINGLY POLITE AND CONSIDERATE (WE'VE ALSO USED HIM FOR ROOFING AND HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE TRUE). WHEN HE WAS FINISHED, HE ASKED ME WHAT PRICE HE'D QUOTED ME AND SAID, "YEAH, THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE, BUT WE MANAGED TO DO IT FOR LESS. SO IT CAME IN AT $350." THIS AFTER I'D GOTTEN A QUOTE FROM SOMEONE FOR $1300! I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT JOHN.
