It was the most horrific experience you could have as a new homeowner with a brand new lawn. where do I begin..a pathetic excuse for a turf management company . They guy used a residential backpack sprayer to treat weeds. They used handheld crank spreaders for overseeding...and walk behind broadcast spreaders for fertilizer. They suggested I shouldn't use preemergent because I was growing some new lawn in a. few small spots..it ruined my lawn as it was overcome by crabgrass within a few months. They came to kill the crabgrass and they might has well have sprayed it with water. They killed none of it. When I called to get them back here they said no, because they had mistakingly underestimated our agreement and that they should be charging me twice what they were charging me..I fired them on the spot...If they are even still in business..do not use them.

Terrible. We switched to this company at the beginning of the this year (2019). They promised great things - first and foremost good communication between us. This was important as the main reason that we didn't renew with the national company that we had used for many years was their inability to schedule with us and to communicate what they were doing, when they were coming, etc. Three applications in and our lawn is in truly terrible shape. I called and spoke to the tech about five weeks ago and met him at the property. He looked it over and agreed that it looked worse than how it had looked when they started, but he promised that between what he was laying down that day, and what he planned to apply on the next application would resolve the issue. Well, the application that he applied that day did nothing. Two weeks out our lawn was looking bad enough that I got a call from our neighbor who we share a driveway with asking what was going on. Three weeks later our lawn began to look REALLY bad. I got a call from the lawn mowing company (we have about 1.5 acres of lawn) to ask what was going on. I called and again spoke to the tech who was scheduled to come out the next day. He met my wife and agreed that the lawn was worse, but reminded her that he had said that it would take one or two applications to see a significant change. So, he put down another application (this was application #3 for the season). Two weeks have gone by and I would now say that about 30% of our lawn is weed only, with the remaining areas badly affected. So, I called them again - this time on Sunday 7/20 to leave a message with their answering service asking for a call back Monday morning, 7/21. Around midday I got a call from one of the office ladies who asked what was going on. I brought her up to speed. She replied that the tech's initial assessment of the lawn was that it was "full of clover" and what did we expect? My reply to that was that she herself had been to the property to work up the bid and had complemented me on the lawn and property when we signed the contract. I also explained to her that what was attacking the lawn was described as being "nut edge" by their tech - and not clover. I also explained to her that prior to their taking over the contract, we had never had a problem with this weed. And finally, I explained that our neighbor (who we share a driveway with) had maintained his service contract with the national company and that his lawn had NO WEEDS. She promised to get the tech on the line at the end of the day on 7/21 to discuss what was going on. Never heard from them. I called on 7/22 and spoke to their answering service and left a message. No call back. I called on 7/23 and the same thing. I called on 7/24 and the same thing. I call on 7/25 and the same thing - except this time the lady on the answering service apologized that no one was calling me back. Finally I called again on 7/29. This time the lady at the answering service told me that she had the direct number to the "owner" and she would personally reach out to him. You guessed it - nothing. So at this point we are going to notify the credit card company and fight to get a refund for the future applications that we paid for and we are going to fire these guys. All I can say is that if you have a lawn that you care about - avoid these guys completely. So that there is no confusion with any other companies that may have a similar name, these guys use 508 478 5378 as their business number.

Their cost for the pre-paid plan is reasonable. However, they were severely behind their normal schedule (spring fertilization program did not finish until sometime in July, close to August!). They were slow to respond to questions regarding scheduling. However, our lawn is still in decent shape with minimal bare spots and weed/grub problems.

Description of Work: I hired Emerald Green a few years back to treat my lawns for weeds, ticks and fleas. John is prompt, and does a great job. I could not do a better job for myself, and it would cost me just as much to buy the product and spread it.

I hired this company more than a year ago and made it very clear to the technician on multiple occasions that weed control was very important to me, and in fact the most important part of the service. After 14 months I see no change in the weeds on my lawn and the amount of crabgrass is the same or somewhat more. The aeration service was also poorly done, with shallow penetration compared to what I have observed on other lawns. I also occasionally have had small patches of grass which seem to have had too much fertilizer and as a result turn brown. Service was also started later than normal in the spring. I am dropping this company since they have not done what they said they would do, that is, get rid of the crabgrass. Also their service has not been punctional. Their explanations to me have not been sufficient and have amounted to telling me that I need to spend more money and use their premium service, which seems like an excuse for the lack of results and poor quality of service. They also said that the weather this year was to blame. I pointed out that other lawns very close to mine did not suffer from the weather and have no crabgrass at all and so it is difficult for me to believe this explanation. Given all of the above, I feel I have no choice but to drop their service.

Response from Emerald Green Lawn Care
Dear Mr. [remove member name] Thank you for taking the time yesterday to talk with me on the phone and communicate to us why our service did not meet your expectations. I appreciate your feedback as it will assist us in becoming better at what we do. Our records indicate that you started our service mid-season on 7-25-12 at our Summer service. We agreed to apply the remaining 4 services of our "Deluxe Lawn Service" program. You also signed up for our Fall Core Aeration in 2012. On February 6, 2013 at your request we switched your 8 step "Deluxe Lawn Service" down to our 5 step "Lawn Maintenance Program". We developed this program for our existing customers who have been on our service for one full year and whose needs require a program offering a basic level of care. Please let me back away from the details so we can look at the big picture.I believe that we both have the same goal in mind: to provide you with a healthy, durable,"sod quality" lawn. As I`m sure you read in your Customer Handbook,it usually takes fifteen months to 2 years to establish a "sod quality" lawn.I can quite modestly state (after 20 years in the industry) that we are one of the best lawn care services available. As with any small business like ours, the best advertising we can have is word of mouth from satisfied customers. It is our goal to retain you as a customer and we hope to service your lawn again in the future. Sincerely, John Carey General Manager

See comments below--- I believe this company is now out of business...
Description of Work: WARNING- THIS COMPANY DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE! I signed an agreement for this company to service my lawn for last fall and for this spring/summer. The aerated and supposedly fertilized my lawn in the late winter and I paid them for that. They just sent me a prepayment option dated 2/16/12 (letter) to have my service provided at a discount as long as I prepay. I tried to call them but their numbers are "temporarily" disconnected. You can't reach them. My service coordinator's cell phone is also "temporarily" out of service. I am not sure what is going on here- but as I see it, this company closed it's doors and if you gave them your money, u may not get any services. DO NOT go onto Paypal and pay for your service!!!

This company has done a good job for us. I mean, we are satisfied. They always come on time. They keep the lawn looking good. I think they seem to be pretty professional. They definitely do what work they are supposed to at our property so we are happy with them.
Description of Work: This company comes to our home six to eight times a year and we pay them each time they come. We have a little less than an acre worth of lawn space I would say.

We are on a yearly contract with Emerald Green for the care and maintenance of our yard and their treatments work very well. The lawn is lush and lovely. They arrive when the yard is due for treatment and do the necessary treatments at the proper times. I am pleased with the service and the results of their treatments.
Description of Work: They came and sprayed our average sized yard for grubs and weeds and put down fertilizer for the grass.

I feel that this company is pretty good. I mean, the do nothing outstanding but they do come and do what I pay for. They keep the lawn looking nice and they come out pretty frequently I would say so I have no major complaints with them. I've been satisfied and I've been using them for a while.
Description of Work: This company comes to my 1/4 acre lawn on their schedule. They come out six times a year and do seven applications. They do my grub control too. I have an annual contract with them that I pay for and they basically leave me notices of when they have been here.
