+ -1 moreHe seemed knowledgeable and experienced, and was easy to talk to. However, he did the upgrade off premises and neglected to transfer e-mails, bookmarks, and other data. Had to pay an additional $75 for him to return and do this. Pre-upgrade problems persisted, but he would not respond to numerous e-mails or voicemails, left over the period of a month. He would not even return a photo disk that had been in the hard drive at the time he took the computer to his lab, nor would he provide a receipt and itemization of work as requested. Ended up having to pay another technician to correct a problem created during the upgrade.
Description of Work: Added memory and performed upgrade on five-year-old PC.

+ -1 moreJohn was competent and quick, and seems to have a deep understanding of all kinds of technical support, applications, and networking. He is very much in demand for house calls, but always answers voice mails in a timely way, and rarely interrupts work to take calls. His manner is charming and courteous, and he seems totally trustworthy.
Description of Work: My computer crashed and I lost a huge amount of data, mostly because I had not backed up in some time. John answered my distress call quickly and was able to retrieve some of it, taking the drive home with him twice to see if more could be extracted, which he did not charge for. I had to get a new computer, which John set up; in the meantime, he transferred data and programs to my partly-functioning laptop, cleaned it up, and made it completely functional, fixing two major things other consultants had not been able to. He also advised on re-locating my family's router, including actually tracing the cable paths that should be taken through the joists and walls. He also gave free advice on buying a computer for my brother's needs.
