Prompt and complete - they actually outsource drain cleaning to a 3rd party that works on their behalf

I wish I could write a good review, or at least thank Barrell for the estimate but instead they let us down. I had called 3 days earlier to schedule an appointment for an estimate for the work that needed to be done and was given a 2 hour window (11AM-1PM) for when to expect the estimator/plumber. By 1:15PM, no one had showed up and I called to find out what was going on. The person in the office I spoke to assured me that I had misunderstood and that the appointment was for 3:30PM. By 4:00PM, still no one had arrived and I did not get a call. I call Barrell again and get an apology from the person in the office and am told that if I am still interested, I could call again on Monday to have someone come out to perform the estimate. I never took them up on that offer, having already lost an entire day waiting for them to not show or even call. I understand that earlier in the week there was significant flooding in the area and many customers were without functional water heaters, boilers, etc. Still, if they would not be able to keep an appointment that was set multiple days in advance they at least owed me a phone call to let me know that they wouldn't be able to make it. Instead, I had to repeatedly call and inquire as to what was going on. I had been happy with work they had done in the past, and I hope this experience was an aberration, but going forward I am going to be looking at other plumbers for other work that will be done.

I had initially called and left a message for the emergency on-call plumber and got a call back within 15 minutes. Joe had advised me that since it was a holiday, it would be very expensive ($175 just to come out), and if it could wait, we would be better off by waiting and calling first thing the next morning. He also advised that the leak might slow down (as the older washer in the valve expands), so it might make more sense for us to wait. After about an hour of the leak not slowing down (it was about 1G/hr), we decided to call and see how soon the work could be done. Joe was very pleasant and friendly on the phone and told us he'd be over in about 30 minutes. He was here within the estimated time and done with the work less than an hour after we had called the second time (capping the leaking fitting took less than 10 minutes, including small-talk). Tremendously responsive, very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. It was a little pricey for the amount of work, but honestly getting a plumber to come out that quickly on the evening of a holiday was well worth it.

All of the people who have come have been pleasant and professional. They've come on short notice when I've had a problem, and show up when they say they will. They're a pleasure to work with.

Showed up on time. Articulate rep. Problem got diagnosed correctly, and fixed promptly, all within the first hour. Pricey, but worth it if on tight timetable.

They came quickly but the whole thing didn't go as smoothly as it could have. The first person only does drains, so he didn't take down any of the information needed to order a replacement garbage disposal. This is a rental investment property, so we had to keep bothering the tenants to get more information. There were twice as many calls as necessary and took several days due to phone tag. They also double billed us, billing both us and the tenant for the same work. The billing person was the most competent and helpful of all the people and he helped to straighten it all out.

I felt they were a very professional outfit who respected the workplace they utilized. They came on time and cleaned up very well when they finished. I wouldn t have a problem recommending them to others and will use them whenever I have a plumbing problem again.

I first hired them and they told me the size sink I needed and I purchased the toilet and sink at a home improvement store. They did a good job of installing it for me. I really liked the fact that they were polite and called on the way to the house so I would now when to expect them.

Joseph is the owner and he showed up on time and did a very good job. He is personable and charged a reasonable rate. The clean up was good and he was neat about the work.

Of the 6 times I've used this firm, twice the plumbers did not seem that knowledgeable.

After the work was done, the plumber bled the radiator more aggressively than we had tried (cranked up water pressure and heat). Things seemed to be working well but after a few days, it was back to its old persnickety self; cold. Replacing the valve did not solve the problem. Rather it just required more forceful bleeding since it's way up on the third floor. The plumber, although very nice and courteous, seemed to drag his feet a little during the labor. In my opinion, he could've worked more efficiently (didn't collect all his tools, took a long time in the truck, etc). However, he spent very little time actually deducing the problem which involved simply staring at the radiator and stating it needed a new valve. The plumber seemed to lack any "want-to" to actually solve the problem. Also, he guesstimated his hours and padded them a bit but I was too meek to put up a strong enough fight. The work itself, though unnecessary, seemed okay.

WE HAD A LEAKING PIPE IN OUR BASEMENT AND A NEIGHBOR RECOMMENDED BARREL PLUMBING. WE CALLED AND SPOKE TO THE DISPATCHER AND SHE TOLD US SHE COULD HAVE SOMEONE COME TO OUR HOUSE THE SAME DAY. THE PLUMBER (JOE?) ARRIVED AND PROCEEDED TO FIX THE LEAKING PIPE. HE REPLACED SOME OLD BRASS WATER PIPING THAT WAS ORIGINAL TO THE HOUSE. HE WAS COURTEOUS AND PROFESSIONAL. WE DID NOT RECEIVE A SALES PITCH AND JOE FOCUSED HIS TIME ON GETTING THE PLUMBING JOB DONE RIGHT. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.
