Wendell is the best there is ! We have a large house and we have worked with many tradesmen and subcontractors over the years. But Wendell's work and his professionalism really stands out. The installation went as planned with no surprises. But since then we have had 3 service calls on the equipment and every time, even in the peak of winter, Wendell showed up the next day morning to diagnose the problem and get the new parts and install it as soon as it arrived. All this with the pleasant demeanor and prompt communication. This level of Service after the install is why it is so important to choose the right person for any job. We used the system to heat the house this past winter and it reduced our Oil Consumption by 60%; The electric bill went up during winter months, so we are now installing Solar to bring it down. He is such a trustworthy professional, I called him for advise even though he does not do Solar.

First of all Thank You Angies List! Without you I would never have discovered this hidden gem! Wendell DePaiva is the man!!!!! What an amazing professional and an amazing person!! I had 3 other estimates from 3 different companies before I called Total Comfort Mechanical. Wendell returned my call promptly and set up an appointment at home. From the minute he arrived he blew me away with his professionalism. At the door step, he stopped and put on boot covers to protect my floor and then went through the entire house painstakingly explaining the work he planned on performing to the last detail. He started thinking loudly as to what would be the best option regarding the location of the air handlers. He made suggestions and at the same time took my feedback into consideration. Out of the 4 different companies, I got the quotes from he was the most knowledgable. He spent a considerable amount of time at the house going through all the basics and all my requirements. I was hoping that he gave me a reasonable quote as I wanted to give him my business. After a couple of days he provided a detailed estimate which was also the best estimate I received thus far. I had no doubt he would do a wonderful job and asked him to start work as soon as possible. The work took 2 full days. He and his team arrived promptly at 8AM each morning. Put down good quality drop cloths through out the house so that they don't track dirt. He made sure he was doing work to my satisfaction throughout. If he had any questions, he would promptly ask and was patient enough to answer all my questions. Everyday he would stay back till 7PM and leave the house cleaner than they arrived. They finished the job as promised within two days. I had wall units installed in three bedrooms and a ceiling 2X2 unit installed in the living room. They had to get a building permit as they had to cut a joist to install the ceiling unit. He applied the Angies List discount to this permit and did not charge me extra for it. His electrician though seemed to have charged him extra for the electrical work claiming that the outlets were not grounded even though they were. Even then he did not budge from his original estimate. I made him 3 payments at three different points of time. He followed up with call later to see if I was satisfied with the unit installed. I had a minor complaint to which he came down to the house, got on the phone with Mitsubishi and fixed it promptly. He was the perfect gentleman and a perfect contractor. I had a horrible experience with a general contractor before and signed up on Angies List to avoid a repeat. I wish this man was also a general contractor, I would also have my bathroom remodelled by him. :) If this man shows up at your doorstep, hire him in a heartbeat, he is as honest and professional as they come.

He was fabulous! He was a very honest, smart, knowledgable, and a sincere person. He really gave me great information about the system that no one else had told me before. He did a great job at explaining everything to me. I would hire him again in a heartbeat and refer him to others.

I would highly recommend Total Comfort Mechanical for an oil to gas conversion. As with any big/expensive job, I had three contractors bid on the job. I do this not only to get the fairest price but to also learn as much as I can to make an informed decision on the system I'm going to go with and the person I?m going to have do the job. Two of the three contractors sent front men to bid on the job. Wendell DePaiva came over from Total Comfort Mechanical; he is the owner of TCM AND he does the work. Needless to say, I learned the most from him, he actually pointed out problems/issues the others hadn't, and his bid was very fair. I went with Wendell and TCM without any hesitation. We scheduled the work and I was half expecting a delayed start which happens with many contractors. Not with Wendell - he was at our house at 8am on the scheduled day and had us up and running in a few days. There were a couple things he had to finalize that required him to come back two different times. He always let us know when he'd be back and he came when he said he would. He is very reliable. Throughout the entire project Wendell was incredibly courteous, polite, nice and friendly. He took the time to explain everything he was doing so we understood and were well informed. He even helped us solve cold/hot spots in our house by adjusting valves and moving a thermostat. Lastly, the final cost of the job was exactly what he quoted. We're very happy with our new heating and hot water system. The system is very efficient and super quiet compared to the old oil burner. Plus we have more space in our basement now that the oil tank is gone. If you are considering an oil to gas conversion, please consider Wendell and Total Comfort Mechanical to do the job. You will not be disappointed.

When I needed to replace my heat pump, I got quotes from all the NATE-certified HVAC contractors around my area (Cambridge, Mass.) One group of quotes was sky-high, another was reasonable. Total Comfort Mechanical's price was the lowest of the reasonable quotes, though only by a couple of hundred dollars, not enough so that price alone would have convinced me to go with them. But I was impressed that out of all the contractors who came out, they were the only one to actually measure my condo rather than taking my word for the square footage, which I turned out to have slightly wrong. I also liked the fact that I was working directly with the owner, Wendell. The installation happened on schedule without a problem and for the quoted price; I was actually surprised that the entire job, which including taking down wallboard to get at the refrigeration lines, went as smoothly as it did. The old unit was winched out, a new refrigeration line was run, and the new heat pump, air handler, and thermostat were installed within two and a half days. I really appreciated the fact that Wendell stayed around with monitoring gear in place for quite a while after the system had been turned on to give any leaks a chance to show up; I can't imagine that most contractors would do that. They took great pains to keep the condo clean, even after I told them I was going to replace one of the rugs where they were working. And I really appreciated their attention to detail, such as insulating some exposed duct work, replacing some rusted electrical boxes, and (after very professionally replacing the wallboard) thinking to save a strip of the old wallboard so I could match the paint color. The heat pump has been both cooling and now, after several months, heating without a hitch. I will certainly use Total Comfort Mechanical for ongoing maintenance.
