It went okay. I'm still a bit miffed that the units installed can only run on a programmable thermostat for an additional $400 per unit. Contractor should have done a better job understanding my requirements. Contractor also got a bit lazy with regards to centering the units.

Absolutely excellent! The price was by far the best and the solution applied was comprehensive. The installers (Denis, Joe, James) were professional, had great attitude and performed well beyond our expectations. The manager, Wendell, was responsive, pleasant to deal with, delivered everything promised and on-time. We cannot recommend them highly enough!

Great 1 phone and a couple hours later technician showed up ran a couple test and determined furnace needed a new motor. He installed it and went over how to best get the most out of the furnace

There was some confusion over what services were to be provided and when but was quickly resolved by the owner.

Very well done; provided information on costs and options, along with recommendations. Came on schedule and left the jobsite spotless.

They were a little more expensive than the other bidder (who had installed the original A/C system in 2000), but I was impressed with the professionalism owner/manager (Wendell DePaiva) and they sold a brand with a good reliability record (consumer reports). The job went well--the crew was friendly, accommodating, and neat. It took some time to get the paperwork for the rebate, which was understandable as Wendell's wife gave birth during the job.

They figured out what two other contractors had not been able to figure out and now our upstairs family room is nice and warm again.

Eric is always careful about using shoe covers when he enters my house so as to not track in anything. He is very courteous and explains everything to me about what is happening with my a/c and heat. He is also patient, because HVAC is not my strong suit and sometimes I don't get what he is saying on the first try!

Work promptly and thoroughly done in a reasonable time and at a reasonable price. ($255)

Wendell and his team were an absolute pleasure to work with. Flexible when scheduling appointments and responsive to calls and emails. Wendell was extremely knowledgeable and helpful when he came to my house, explaining the process and his logical reasoning as well as being respectful and courteous of the living space. His team was equally respectful when it came time for the work to be done, and was extremely hardworking - they knew that the scheduling was a bit tight for me and managed to finish the job in much less time than expected. They also listened to my needs and concerns, working around certain rooms and strategically handling the job in a way as to minimize the amount of disruption in my household. I have to stress the care that they took while respecting my property - they honestly left my house cleaner than when they had arrived. I'd also like to mention that I have a indoor cat who likes to run out, and all the workers took a ton of care to make sure that I had secured the cat before they entered or exited my home. It's just an extra level of courtesy that I have not come to expect from the workers who usually handle my home jobs. I cannot recommend Total Comfort enough; I even referred my boss to their services, because that was how amazing they were!

They did a good job, I can't complain. I feel like the price was good for what they did. It was a very positive experience working with them.

Wendell in particular is punctual, responsive, a creative problem solver, and offered us very competitive pricing. The job was even completed earlier than expected, and everything works well. I have and will continue to recommend this company to others. We had an excellent experience throughout.

Technician arrived on time as scheduled. Furnace was cleaned, inspected and new filter installed. Work was done efficiently and work area was cleaned after servicing. All office personnel and technician were very pleasant and professional. We received a follow up call 2 days later inquiring about overall satisfaction with the service. We plan to hire them again.

I bought a deal from Angies list and it went very well. He was on time and let me know there were no problems that needed to be fixed before the start of the summer.

This company was wonderful. From the scheduling to the actual visit, I really felt like I was being treated fairly. The technician, Eric, was lovely: prompt, knowledgeable, courteous and efficient. The owner, Wendell, was also great when he came out to quote the new system. I highly recommend them and would definitely use them again!

Summary: Wendell, owner of Total Comfort, is capable but seems more interested in achieving good looks than safe, durable work. But he was the best of the 10 contractors I looked into not only in price (his price is unbeatable) but in technique. Other contractors used little or no insulation so as to jam the pipes in a very slim line cover; did not air or water seal the wall penetration; wanted to drill through sill plate instead of rim joist; offered to install ridiculously over-sized equipment; estimates were incredibly overpriced; hid details of the installation that they thought I would not like and so on. Overall, I would recommend Wendell but I would keep an eye. Details: in the process of installation, a support stud was hacked at with a utility knife because Wendell did not notice the spacing of the wall studs. The studs are clearly visible in the basement (Wendell was there) as being 16" on center but Wendell assumed 24". After installation, I found out that splits on the insulation had not been taped shut so condensation was forming on the lines. In addition, I read on the maker's own web site (Ebrille) that the insulation used on the pipes outdoors had to be protected from UV by either a cover or latex paint. If left unprotected, there would not be a shred left in 4 years as a video posted by Ebrille showed. Wendell debated the issue for days but finally conceded the point after I pointed out that I had also spoken with the local Ebrille distributor and he had his men wrap the insulation with the tape I provided. Most alarmingly, I found out that, in order to make the line duct look nice and neat, the wall penetration into our living room had been left exposed to the elements. The line cover was actually set to travel *in front" of the hole leaving about a 1/4-1/2" gap between it and the hole (t's a shingled wall). I did invoke possible legal action and perhaps that is why Wendell changed the path of the line cover so that the correct cup was placed and caulked over the wall penetration. Besides these points, the pipes coming out of the unit were not insulated and overlapped so there was considerable condensation forming; this I also asked to be corrected when the line cover was re-routed. Finally, a minor point compared to the others that I've mentioned: the concrete base for the ductless outdoor unit was poorly set so it will probably become un-level in the coming winter. A level surface is required for proper functioning of the units. During this whole process, Wendell argued at times but, at all times, he was polite and ended up by setting up an installation that has performed well this summer. (If I find wall rot next year from condensation, I'll update this review.)

Wendell came to examine the boiler the day after I called him. Because of the nature of our boiler, he told me that his company would not be the best one to do the work. He referred me to another company. I appreciated his frankness. I also appreciated that he came to look at the unit so promptly so that I could contact another company about doing the work. I will definitely keep Total Comfort Mechanical in mind for future work.

A JUST COMPANY! Always just in time and equitable. Wendell is fair. They had just come out to do an air conditioner tune up. Did not double charge for the service call. Quick, efficient, competent. Red-haired Eric showed up. He is amazing technician. Can diagnose anything on the spot. Effective communicator. Specifically asked for him for a future humidifier install this fall. Office support staff is extremely responsive. Do not go anywhere else! This is the company to use.

The total experience was great. Technician arrived promptly on time. He diagnosed the issue immediately, had the replacement part on his truck, and got the unit working immediately. He also replaced the filter (which was several years overdue). He quoted me the price of everything he did before he did it, and they had a very reasonable $69 service call fee. He also did not try to up-sell me into additional unnecessary services and made very reasonable maintenance recommendations for the future with no pressure to sign up (I actually had to ask him for a quote). We don't wear outside shoes inside our house, and he had brought his own shoe covers and used then every time he came in without prompting.

EVEN the NEIGHBOR RAVED about Total Comfort's work! She saw the technician working diligently cleaning and repairing outside. Had two central air units serviced late June. Not only did the technician work on the outside units, he went to the attic to clean out the condensation line. NO OTHER COMPANY EVER DID THAT! (The basement water pump had already been taken care of by this company's amazing work on my furnace last January.) Had not used the air conditioning for two years. Even though the units were covered and protected, they still needed a thorough cleaning as well as servicing. Total Comfort went above and beyond my expectations!

Contractor general manager came by to price an offer and we worked out all the details. On the install day his team came by, but ran into some problems. The GM came by and resolved these. The installed system lacked one self adjusting feature but that was a manufacturers issue. We found a problem with the humidity sensor after a couple of days, and they promptly returned to fix the issue. We were very pleased with the quality of work, knowledge and communications - will definitely use again.

I had a heating zone that was not working at all. Paul arrived at the appointed time and set about analyzing the problem. The plumbing contractor who installed the system a few years ago never labeled any of the pipes, so the first task was identifying where the bad zone was. Sounds easy, but it wasn't. Paul drained the system zone by zone, which accomplished two things. He removed any air that might have been in the system, and he was able to isolate the problem (through a process of elimination): a bad head-valve. As he painstakingly tested each zone, he labeled them all to make future service calls much easier. He had the replacement part in his truck, so he was able to restore heat to the zone immediately. Not only did Paul solve my immediate problem, he got me on a plan for future maintenance which should help head off problems like this one before they occur. I found out about Total Comfort on Angie's list -- many enthusiastic reviews about their competence and fair pricing. My first experience was 100% positive as well.
