Eric and his crew were great. Returned calls, intiated and completed job as expected. Started early and worked consistently throughout the day. The deck looks beautiful, they did great work! My neighbor was also impressed with their work and hired them for a deck repair.

Eric was the only contractor to break out all the costs of the project in a detailed estimate! Met with me 3 times to go over project and discuss options. Started and completed as promised. There where a few minor details that required follow up attention that where taken care of promptly. Would definitely hire for future projects.

Eric and his team are the most efficient and reliable contractors I have used in 40 years of doing renovations. Prep work was done in a half day, framing was done in less than a day, insulating was done in a few hours, plastering was done in less than a day, all remaining finishing work was done in less than a day. Eric made every effort to make sure things were ready for the plumber, electrician and counter guys (whom I managed since what's more fun than being your own general contractor?). I think there were three things that helped make this successful: Eric is very responsive by text, email and phone; we documented details and so the overall project actually came in on budget (generally, I think the more details noted, the less room for confusion); we discussed a few small changes and found acceptable solutions. It had been awhile since I've done this kind of project and I learned a lot too about some new materials and methods (or at least ones I haven't used before). Sometimes I feel contractors don't believe a woman knows about anything other than paint colors. This was a very positive experience where I feel I had an excellent partner to help me make good decisions to make the space very usable for my family while increasing the value of the home as inexpensively as possible.

After several months trying to find a contractor to remodel a medium-sized hall bath, Eric Santos actually came, took notes, and gave me a written quote. Within a week, I did have another contractor also provide me with a written quote, which was good because I could compare the estimates. I chose to go with Santos Carpentry because as far as I could determine, the price was comparable except for the walk-in shower. The second contractor only used the more expensive waterproof Kerdi-Schluter waterproofing system. I tried to be as complete in my initial design specifications as I could be, but Eric was flexible and allowed me to change from a glass enclosure to a ceiling-installed curtain track (like in a hospital exam room) before the glass was ordered. He also helped me to determine the best placement for a skylight, which happened to be over the shower itself. The tile sub-contractor did a fabulous job. Now I have a very contemporary and easily accessible shower with heated floors and a towel warmer that looks like it belongs on Houzz! Eric also agreed to do other minor jobs in my downstairs half bath in the middle of the remodel (I wanted to remove outdated backsplash tile, a towel rod, and a recessed toilet paper holder). He also installed two new windows and had his plumber replace rusty, broken metal heating covers downstairs. His painter did an excellent job on the upstairs bath, the stairway, my entryway, and the half bath. The one issue that keeps me from giving Santos Carpenty an "excellent" score is that my bathroom was gutted and left open for two weeks over the holidays. As I said, it took months to get a contractor because they're all so busy in Metrowest Boston, and I was ready to go as soon as anyone could fit me in. However, I didn't realize how much my gas bill would be when they left it uninsulated and down to the studs. That one month alone was over $600. Eric did offer to pay, but I didn't accept, partly because I felt my inexperience had played a role in the scheduling. If I'd known how much could be accomplished in the time they had before the holidays, I would have asked them to start afterwards so that the walls wouldn't have been left open. Though I don't feel that "punctuality" quite fits this situation, that's the category that I chose to rate as "good" instead of "excellent." I've worked with quite a few contractors, including a general contractor on a major remodel, and I think Santos Carpentry is better than average in terms of quality, responsiveness, and price. I would work with them again.

Santos Carpentry replaced my disintegrating old wooden deck with an Azek composite deck. They did an exceptional job leaving me with a high quality product that will last for years. They focused on quality of work and did not cut corners, ensuring adequate supporting joists and sonar tubes to support the heavy load. They are hard workers with no wasted time, even in the hottest of days that we had during the project. They keep the site clean and even power washed the deck before they left. They are good people to have in and around your home: respectful, trustworthy and just already really good individuals. It was a pleasure having them do the work. They have done other general carpentry jobs for us, including replacing exterior wooden doors, removing a velux window, and renovating a storm damaged sunroom. I recommend them unequivocally.

Santos Carpentry did a fantastic job on all projects I asked them to undertake. The deck project, for example, involved adding new support (sonar tubes, added joists, etc) and replacing the old wooden deck with an Azek, composite system. The work was done with incredible craftsmanship and care. Composite decking has several added requirements when compared to traditional wooden decks...these requirements involve stress/support requirements and a special installation system to accommodate for expansion/contraction properties. Making sure these special requirements are met are an important element in ensuring that the manufacturers warranty will be honored. Eric and his team were resolute in making sure these special requirements were met. In addition to the quality of the professionalism, this team works hard...there was no wasted project time, the team was always focused, and in high humidity weather, they never stopped. I really feel I got exceptional value for the resources spent. In addition, they are are just a pleasure to have around...polite, willingness to listen and accommodate...just good people, a pleasure to have in and around your home. They are also focused on keeping the property clean after each days work. No debris was left hanging around, None of our cars suffered a flat tire, because of nails left on the driveway staging site. Each day the project work space was left clean, and when the deck was finished it was power washed clean. I have no reservations in giving Santos carpentry the highest recommendation possible.

Eric Santos and his partner Thiago are an outstanding team. Eric Santos was the leader in this project, submitting bids and being responsible for all communications and ordering of supplies. The project could not have gone better; it started on the agreed date and finished on time. The day start at 7 AM precisely; the work is done efficiently and with great precision, and the two men work together very smoothly. The finished deck looks fantastic. Eric carefully checked all the material and ordered replacements for some boards with small defects, that other contractors might have accepted. Eric offered some excellent suggestions and found a great solution for a problem with an awning that we have on the deck. He also listened carefully to my wishes and ideas and was very flexible and creative. The site was cleaned every day, with a thorough power washing at the end. The team showed respect for our property and plantings around the deck, such that not a plant was damaged. They also were as quiet as possible and professional in every way. We are extremely pleased with the process and the finished deck.
