Job was more extensive than I had imagined, but the guys were there everyday, on time, and worked very hard to get the job completed. Also had 25 sq feet that needed to be rebuilt. They were very professional, and cleaned up (as much as possible) each day before they left. Overall - very satisfied. The foundation will outlive me...

Jim and his team are professionals, friendly, and respectful of the home. His pricing was fair and he was creative working with us to keep the costs from creeping up. After the fireplace was all done, we noticed a few stones that we didn't like and thought looked weird. We called Jim and he came back to our home to talk through it with us. That day he replaced the stones and now the fireplace looks fantastic. He wants his customers to be happy and we appreciated how much he was willing to work with us. Would recommend him to others.

This is the second time we have used American Made, and both times we were very happy with the work. Jim and his crew do beautiful work. The come when they say they're going to come, do what they say they're going to do, charge what they say they're going to charge. No surprises. Very professional all around. I'd recommend to
Description of Work: Jim removed 2 old retaining walls and built 2 new walls in the same location. We had old cinder block walls that after many years were failing, and Jim's crew removed those along with several large boulders. They made a flat stone wall with a granite cap for one wall, and a fieldstone wall roughly 75' in length for the other. We are very happy with the end result.

AMM came and looked at it in the spring, but we mutually agreed to defer the work till later in the season, to enable them to focus on outdoor work during the summer. Jim responded promptly to a reminder email in late August and sent a crew within the week. We removed the counter tops and shelves next to the chimney (see photo) but left the knife and pot racks racks in place. The guys arrived early AM and were done & out by early afternoon. They were friendly and polite, did careful neat work (no mortar on the racks), and cleaned up after themselves to my satisfaction. In fact, they said they wouldn't leave until I was happy with the cleanup!
Description of Work: We needed the mortar replaced in a kitchen chimney (roughly 8.5'x17"x50") and the brick sealed. The chimney is original (top floor of a triple-decker, built ~1910), and the mortar was badly degraded and was falling out in some areas, so that the uneven pressure was causing the bricks to crack. There was also a constant drizzle of mortar and occasional brick chips onto the counter tops.

Had new brick steps and a portion of flagstone walkway leading to stairs replaced. After 1 year the concrete on the walkway began to disintergrate. Jim Linskey came out to look, said he would repair, never came back. At the time I rated poor the problem with the walkway but said the stairs were OK. Now 5 years later the stairs are a problem as well, the masonry between the bricks is falling out. If you want your masonry work to last more than five years I would find someone else!

Unfortunately this customer used rock salt on his masonry work despite being told it would cause the masonry to deteriorate. I tell all my customers not to use salt in the winter because it causes deterioration. There are safe products you can use in order to avoid this problem and this customer did not and therefore the problems with his masonry are not due to our work but rather his use of rock salt.

Jim and his employee were very pleasant to work with but the job has proven to be unacceptable. I gave the company a low rating because I think the job should have been redone. I think the finished surface should have been smooth, not crumbling, and level with the surface, and ready for painting. The work was done Oct 27, 2016. A few days later I wrote to let him know I was concerned that the cement was not smooth in places and the fixed cracks were not level. I worried that the depressions might retain water in the future and crack again when it froze. I was also concerned about the cracks at the bottom of the step that looked like they hadn’t been fixed. It wasn't ready for painting. Sent photos (See photos Nov 2016 at [*** Link removed ***] ) -- He said the depressions would not freeze and crack. And that his guy would know not to fix the crack at the bottom of the steps, “that is a cold joint meaning it connects two separate things (steps and walkway) you never want to put a joint there.” I told him that I would hate to just leave the cracked strip at the bottom like that and asked for advice on a way to make it look better? He didn’t respond. -- On May 22 2017 I wrote again and sent photos to let him know that the material in the corners of the steps was crumbling badly. ( See photos May 2017 at [*** Link removed ***] ) I thought the materials had performed badly. I asked him to come and consider redoing the work. I wanted to get it painted but it was not an acceptable surface. May 23 Jim wrote that it looked like just some normal flaking at the feather edge but was willing to stop by and take a look. When I didn’t hear from him I wrote again on May 30 and again on June 8 asking him to let me know when he could come by to fix up the steps where the material is crumbling and cracking. He came by on June 10 and scraped some of the crumbling material. I don't think it is an acceptable surface. I am left with very rough uneven surfaces and some cracks. The steps are still not suitable for painting. I feel that he should have redone the job. (See photos June 2017 at [*** Link removed ***]
Description of Work: The scope of the project included grinding out and filling cracks in the top surface and sides of the porch, all three faces and edges of the sides, and the tread areas, risers, inside corners along the sides and back of the steps. The finish will be ready for (but does not include) painting. I also asked that they take care to minimize dust and debris from adjacent areas. Job did not include applying a sealant or any kind of weather proofing product? (See Photos Sept 2016 at [*** Link removed ***]

It went almost perfect ! Chimney was removed, roof was patched nicely, Water line was safe and undisturbed. The remaining cement that wasn't flat was IMMEDIATELY taken care of next day, Genuine attitude from his team to finish the job perfectly. Maybe even a little OCD perfectly!(which is nice and hard to find)

The original scope was to repoint 2 sides of the brick foundation (the mortar was deteriorating). The area under the back porch was inaccessible, and when I decided to have that porch replaced, Jim was open to coordinating his work with the demolition of the porch. It took a few months to get going, and Jim was very good about coordinating. Once the scope of that area was determined, the extra work did add another $1,400 to the cost (price listed in this review reflects the actual total cost of the work performed).

Jim claimed he dropped by to do an estimate, but we never saw him -- "drive-by estimating" ?? Is that a thing? -- and we were home pretty much the whole weekend. Jim said we needed a chimney cap. We don't. I wouldn't hire a company that doesn't talk to us in person before quoting a job. So, that rates low on professionalism. However, emails were answered fairly quickly, so I gotta give a C for responsiveness.

This customer and I discussed the job at length so when I stopped by and no one was home, I took a look at the outside work. It was pretty self-explanatory and based on looking at it and my discussions with the customer, I gave them an estimate. I am a small business owner with a family and while I do my best to meet every potential customer in person, in this particular scenario it made sense to me to provide the estimate prior to meeting them. It was my professional opinion that they did need a new chimney cap.

I contacted Jim Linskey during the winter and he promptly scheduled an estimate. This was several weeks before the weather would be warm enough to do the work, but Jim was able to provide an approximate date when the work could be scheduled, and they met this commitment. The project took slightly more than a week. The crew worked from 7:30 until about 2 every day and kept the outdoor area where they mixed their materials as safe and clean as possible. Inside, they were careful entering and exiting, and they did a basic cleanup (although we had to shop-vac and mop the floor thoroughly before putting our things back). We have seen the impact of the work immediately in terms of more consistent temperature (the area is not heated) and much less seepage during heavy rain (some of which is due to exterior issues that this job was not designed to solve). The project was expensive (though their pricing seems competitive for the type of work), and Jim was willing to work with me to scope the job so it fit our budget. My one criticism is that the crew did not ask first where to dispose of excess water or materials in the yard and dug a hole in one of my flower beds. While no damage was done, I would suggest covering this topic at the start of the job).

I have an older brick house and the concrete mortar mix the guys used to fix up the areas was MUCH lighter than my original. After talking to some other masonries, I was told they could have easily mixed the concrete mortar to match it closer to the original color. I can spot out every area they worked on from down the street. I talked to Jim about this, and he seemed to pass it off, saying I have an older house and over time it’ll match up. It’s been 6 months now and I’ve seen no change.

as i explained during the job process to the customer it would take some time for the mortar to get weathered and blend with the existing mortar on the house , i dont believe in dying mortar unless absolutely necessary because once the dyed mortar weathers it will be a completely different color forever

Stonework itself was okay, although there are still some tiny gaps in the concrete that I'm concerned will expand over time as water gets in and freezes. Biggest complaint was the unbelievable mess that the crew left--hundreds, maybe thousands of stone and concrete fragments scattered over our front yard. It is impossible to remove them all from the grass, there are so many tiny ones, so we are left with stones in our grass that will be there forever. Crew clearly made no effort to contain mess or to clean up after themselves. Company was unresponsive when we brought this to their attention. (pictures are taken after we cleaned up a bagfull of larger pieces)

It is six foot wide and two feet deep. The step is cut granite and the front and sides are stone facade. It's beautiful and stunning. It upgraded the whole front of our house visually. The granite is a gray modeled granite and the front is essentially cut stones of different shapes and colors put together. It's gorgeous and the skill was amazing.

The work was excellent. Jim, the owner was very pleasant to work with and showed up everyday that the work was being done to check on it. Both of the men who did the work were excellent. Dave is a perfectionist and getting the steps perfectly level was a must for him. The design of how the granite was laid down was aesthetically pleasing as well as structurally sound. I would hire them again without any hesitation. They did an excellent job and I am very satisfied.
