They are very good at answering the phone and sending people over. Their pricing is very high but the work is very good. I have been using them for about a year now and I will continue using them.

They arrived promptly for an estimate and the initial work date, but were slow to come back to complete the punch list. They worked with my contractor a bit, but the placement of the return and the ductwork through the wall was not quite as specified. On the other hand, their price was nearly half that of some other companies and the work is solid and functional, just not necessarily as aesthetically pleasing, presumably that comes with my taking one of the lower estimates. I'd recommend them, hands-down, to someone who wants a quality installation for a good value and is willing to do some of the aesthetic touches themselves. I'd used them before and knew this going in and was relatively happy with their service.
Description of Work: Added new return and supplies to second floor to be more compatible with a/c servicing, also moved one vent from interior to exterior wall.

Tech did not show up as promised and company did not bother to call to explain the delay. When I initiated a call to Atlantic to inquire as to when I could expect the service call, I was told that there were no techs available and he would "get back to me." Needless to say, CAVEAT EMPTOR with these folks.

Their salesman was supposed to be at my house at 7:30am. At 8:30 I called the office who put me through to his voice mail. At 10am I hadn't heard from them.

I mean, this company is good. I've not really had a lot of experience with them since our system is still so new but overall, I like them. They did a good job and they were punctual as I recall. I liked that about them. I mean, we intend to use them again, so I have no complaints really.
Description of Work: This company was out before the spring to clean out the fairly new air conditioning system in our 2000 square foot home. We have a contract with them, so they come and do this type of cleaning and check-up annually for us. I can't recall exactly what our annual contract costs us.

We were a little less than happy with the service we got. They kept promising to find a part. We waited for six months, but no part. The service technician was really a good guy, but the people in the office were lost in paperwork. I would give a split grading for this company, with the office staff graded a D and service techs graded an A.
Description of Work: This company repaired the air conditioning for our 3 bedroom, 2 bath house. The work took over six months.

I would say their pricing is not bad. They were good about being on time. It took a little time to get them to come out, but that is because they are busy. They are good people to work with. They will tell you what the charge is going to be before they do the work.
Description of Work: They replaced the Freon in the central air conditioner in my 1400 square foot home.

solved problem. Has helped us avoid a big problem down the line. Helpful and knowledgeable.
Description of Work: Had water coming from air conditioning unit. Turned out to be clogged valve. He purged and suggested a clear drain replacement. Came out later to waterproof and ensure any overflow won't leak in roof unit. Good intermediate advice for an old a/c system.

Great! The service technician came on Saturday to look at the heating system and space. He gave us several options (installing a vent in overhead duct versus running a duct from the furnace to the wall) and told us the pros and cons of each. He returned Monday morning with another technician; they were 1/2 an hour late with no call, but did the work quickly, were very courteous, and left the space very clean.
Description of Work: Installed heating in our basement family room. Installed a vent in overhead duct for heat and installed a return in wall. Also gave us an estimate for central a/c.

They did the tune-up and then charged more than quoted. It took more hours and they added a transportation fee. I argued my way out of the extra fees & just paid the top price of the estimated range they quoted. But then I noticed that the hot water was SCALDING: dangerously hot. I asked them to come back & fix the problem (that did not exist before their tune-up.) They came back and saw that the thermostat was at its lowest setting and left without charging me, but also without helping. The hot water continued to be scalding & we were wasting lots of energy heating the water up so high. I called them a third time and said they had to fix the problem they created and I wouldn't be paying for another visit. They came again and noticed that they had left a valve open (during their first visit.) They switched the valve off and left. Unbelievably I got a bill for this even though they were only fixing their own mistake. I told them it didn't make any sense & they didn't bother me again.
Description of Work: I asked them to come do regular maintenance/tune-up of my boiler.

I had hired another company to do this work, but they kept complaining about how bad my ducts were (because they were flexi-duct and not steel) and could never fix it. Atlantic came out and fixed it within one hour. My only complaint is that they did not tell me the price included travel time. This doubled the price I paid, but it was worth it.

The short story is that we were thrilled to have this fixed. The tech first thought as did I that it must be the relays. But he got on his Nextel with his office and after some discussion they determined it must be the value. Tech had to drive off to pick one up, but returned in about 30 minutes, turned off the gas, made the switch, and turned everything back on. Took nearly four hours (based on charge from time he left his depot). But he and his support techs figured it out, when others didn't. Diagnosis is as important as quality of the work itself.
Description of Work: We had a chronic problem for more than 10 years in very cold weather, the gas furnace would fail to fire up, even when thermostats were calling for heat. We could restart it manually, but were always concerned if we had to be away for some days. We had a variety of heating specialists come in, including one who wanted to be there when it had failed, resulting in a 2 am house call while the inside temp fell to 50 degrees. No one would find the cause, until Atlantic. They ran some tests, tech consulted on the phone, decided it was likely the gas value. He replaced it and it's been working flawlessly since.

Installation was okay. They came unprepared and I had to supply some spare lumber from my husband's work pile for them to install the humidifier on a wall. They did not have the instrument that checks humidistat's accuracy. Said to call them if I felt we needed it. I did and made an apt. They canceled apt. I rescheduled it for much later in month. After they came, I received a bill. I called and said, there should be no bill. They made me speak to a few people to dismiss it. WORSE: when I called to have my A/C units maintenanced, they kept on standing me up. When I called to complain, John Ioiaro said he himself would schedule the next apt. They stood me up again. I guess we are DONE.
Description of Work: Steam Humidifier installed.

Their billing system was a mess, workmanship is poor, price is high. I was billed for additional labor and parts when in fact the work was not properly carried out. We lived in freezing temperature for three days before they came to fix the boiler. I was then charged for the repair. I called many times to explain that it was their fault and I should not be responsible. The charge was eventually canceled after many complaints. During the whole process, the accountant was most unpleasant and rude. Two years later, I had a leak from the boiler. Their serviceman came and changed the pressure valve and tank. I was charged for that repair which I promptly paid. Less than six months later, the same leak happened. Their serviceman came and changed the valve, but told me it was the wrong valve he put in. Someone from the company should return and install the right valve with the correct PSI. Since then I have been receiving a bill for $388 and no new valve was ever installed.
Description of Work: A new boiler and air-conditioning system were installed by Atlantic approximately three years ago.

They were excellent and came when they said they would and came on the early side. He had to get someone to help him. They came back promptly and solved the problem and did the work that needed to be done. I would highly recommend them, and they are very honest. They did not try and oversell me on things I did not need.

Jack Tanger was very nice and informative, but we chose another contractor to install our air conditioning, primarily because their cost of $9,300 was nearly double the $5,500 we are paying to another reputable company for a very similar proposal.
Description of Work: They came to my house to evaluate the cost of installing central air conditioning. They also advised that I should upgrade my electrical service from 100 to 200 amps. About a week later, they sent me a written proposal.

The work was excellent. However, they were extremely late and did not call to say they were running late. I was told to expect the technician between 10am-1pm. So I took the morning off. He did not show up until 3pm and the work took two hours. Therefore I ended up taking the entire day off, and having to wait around for the entire day. Nobody called to inform me that they were running late. I had to call at 1pm to make sure that somebody was indeed coming to take care of the job. The technicial could not have been more uncommunicative once he showed up.
Description of Work: They re-attached a central A/C unit that had been disconnected to install a patio. This included pumping the freeon gas back into the system, as well as physically attaching the hoses.

When I called for a technician and told them there was an apparent freon leak, I MEANT THERE WAS A LEAK AND EXPECTED THE TECHNICIAN TO GET RIGHT TO IT. The guy just deliberately showed up(late) unprepared, spends an hour or so to do what he called a visual inspection, did not (or didn't bother to) find the leak, then without asking for my permission fills up the leaky system with freon, charged $266 for the entire work! All this took place while I, the male head of the household, happened to have stepped out. Perhaps he felt he could get away with this with only my wife present in the house. When I returned he began talking excuse that he would have to come back after the summer (duh!) to perform a 'real' inspection. So this $266 work was a fake one I suppose?
Description of Work: I made a request to find an apparent freon leak somewhere in the central cooling system. The technician performed a visual inspection and failed to detect a leak, claiming there would need to be a more thorough inspection in order to find one, then added such inspection could only be done after the summer when he and his company will no longer be busy. He then filled the system with new freon without asking my permission and charged $75 for it. Of course much of it has leaked out after one week.

The technician arrived a bit after the 2-hour window they had given me to expect him. He was very professional and nice. In addition to doing the basic service he diagnosed a couple of problems that were related to the original installation. Overall, I felt confident in the work and appreciated the advice he gave, which was geared towards minimizing our expense in fixing problems with the original equipment.

The representative was very, very late. They said they would be at my house between 1:30 and 3:00. They arrived at 6:30. The representative was very nice and knowledgeable. He explained what he was doing and spent about 2 hours working on my two units. The frustrating part of the visit was they didn't call to let me know they were running late. If they had called me to let me know I would've understood, but not calling and having difficulty getting a hold of them was frustrating. They did perform good service once they got here.

I have a broken wire on the condenser to my bedroom and they were supposed to come back and fix- but never did. If this is who you recommend- I will drop Angie's list too! I am angry and frustrated by this lack of service from Atlantic which I have had a service contract with for three years.
Description of Work: Never returned phone calls, impossible to get through to service and waiting for six weeks for a price for new A/C condensers- no follow up. They called me back last week and promised a quick turn around with the information I needed from them, it has been another week and I haven't heard from them again.
