The Maids of the South Shore

They did a great job. Price was higher then expected but worth it.

I am very pleased with The Maids. Kevin and Jamie in the office are very polite and accommodating. Despite being new customers in April Kevin worked to schedule cleaning around my children's nap schedule and for us to be the first house of the day so that timing would be more dependable. Also we have had to cancel within 24 hours due to a family illness and they were extremely understanding and quickly rescheduled.  The Maids arrive punctually, and usually the same team which I like, each scheduled cleaning. They do a good job in a reasonable amount of time and also work around my two pets. Any time I questioned any overlooked detail it has been addressed quickly and never anything major. It has been a pleasure and they have helped keep this busy Mom sane!

I think they do a very thorough job. They are consistent. The house always looks great when they're done. Their people are well trained. They don't all speak English well but there's always at least one or two on the team that speaks English very clearly so that you can give feedback while they're still here, if you're here.

The Maids were lovely women; they were pleasant, extremely hard working, and thorough. The team leader was business-like and accommodating. The four women were joined by another, who appeared to be their director. She joined in on the project and I was left with a well dusted, vac'd and utterly clean home. It's been a long time since I've been able to get on my hands and knees to clean floors and corners, but these women did just that. They never stopped. I'm in awe of their energy and professionalism. 

I contacted The Maids and got on the schedule right away.  There was a large first-time fee (about twice the normal cost).
I confess I was disappointed.  I thought everything would be clean and shiny, but I found fingerprints on the door remained, parts of the house weren't dusted thoroughly.  I reported this to the scheduler after it happened.
I also reported that after the first time The Maids came I found my PC was turned on.  That made a decidely bad impression; this was the first impression they left me with.  I had trouble figuring out how my $250 first-time visit would provide enough time for one (or more) of The Maids to check their email or whatever.  Nevertheless I continued the service for several months.
I cancelled the service when I found my bathtub hadn't been cleaned and the fingerprints remained above the doorknob.

The Maids of the South Shore had a top rating on Angie's List, so even though they were almost  twice the cost of other cleaners, I thought they'd be a good value.  What a mistake. The manager, Kevin, was pleasant at first, but if you questioned him at all he became downright nasty.  After the initial cleaning, I asked if there was anything they could do to improve the price that was quoted and I was told no, which was  fine. What upset me was how Kevin treated me with insulted indignation when I questioned his estimate of the number of hours the cleaners had been in my house - not a good beginning.  The quality of the cleaning started out gang-busters - but slipped pretty quickly.  For example, after a large cobweb in my bookcase was missed for a couple of cleanings,  I called the office (as their thank you card says to do.  The Maids immediately came out to take care of it, but stood on one of my chairs and left the chair in front of the bookcase.  When I called about the maids using my furniture to stand on - dangerous and not the way to treat someone's furniture - I was told by Kevin I was too difficult to please (really?), amongst other nasty comments.  When I sent a picture of the goo left on my shower door, I was given a very nice apology and refund check and a letter discontinuing The Maids' services.  Ouch. Good thing I didn't mention the dust that had been left on the oven hood when only the edge had been cleaned, or the other assorted items that had been overlooked this last cleaning.  Was it just an off day, or were they trying to get me to ask them not to come back?.  I am not a new to cleaners, I worked with my first cleaner for 10 years, my second cleaner for 7 years. The house is always picked up, the dogs are always in the kennels and payment is always made at time of service.  The Maids of the South Shore Boston are great, as long as everything goes the way Kevin want's it too.... otherwise get ready to be bullied.

They are very thorough. The only reason I stopped using them was that they were too expensive. I was able to find private concerns or persons that were significantly less expensive, and did a very good if not a better job.

They are very thorough.  They will do extra work without extra charges.  If I ask them to polish furniture and if I put out a product that I would want them to use, they’ll use my product and they’ll polish table tops and they’ll also change the bedding if I want them to at no extra cost.  I will absolutely continue to use them in the future.

We absolutely love the maids.  they are NOT cheap, but when the cleaning crew shows up in our house they completely take over like a cleaning storm. By the time they leave the house is clean and straightened out.  they are always VERY friendly and very attentive to details. 4 people crew, about 1.5 hours, or so for our every other week cleanup. 

We've used them for a year now and are extremely happy with them.  One of the many nice touches is the call from the manager the night before reminding us that they are coming the next day. Our only request would be that they come at a more consistent time every time, but in the grand scheme of things, it's a minor point. Considering they have accomodated our schedule many times due to my mistakes in scheduling, I will happily let them come whenever is convenient for them.

Pricing is discussed upfront and there are NO surprises, you know what to expect.

Company has been cleaning my house every other Wed for years. Same team with little turnover. Have shown up in the middle of snow storms. Very professional. The team even puts up with my dog! Kevin customized a cleaning strategy just for us. Co has always been dependable and flexible.
