Hawkeye Fence

Instead of reliving the entire ordeal, I waited over a yr (which I was OK with) but when they refused to fix the problem and presented documentation indicating no services were ever provided, I needed the Attorney General's Office to mediate and resolve the problem.

They were flexible and they worked with me. I honestly, I wasn't going to hire a fencing contractor, I started to do it myself, but then I hit a massive piece of concrete. They came down and did it.

The workers were prompt, helpful with design decisions, professional and friendly. The work was done in a couple days, start to finish!! The fencing looks great! The staff in the office was friendly and very helpful! Pricing was extremely fair! I would absolutely call this company again!! Highly recommend their services!!!

I contacted Hawkeye Fence to come out and give me and estimate for a fence. When I made the appointment I made it clear that it had to be earlier in the day. The woman who set up the appointment said that Bob had 12:00pm-3:00pm opened. I said that would be fine but it couldn't be any later than that and would prefer closer to 12:00pm because we are not actually living at the house yet and my husband had to go and meet him there then had to leave to go to work by 3:30pm. The night before my husband received a phone call from Bob confirming the time. Bob told him on the phone that it would be between 12:00pm and 3:00pm. My husband explained that he had to physically leave by 3:30pm to head to work. My husband went to our new home this morning. Got there at 11:30am and waited and waited. No Bob. My husband called him at around 1:30pm. Was told by Bob that he would be at our home around 2:45pm-3:00pm. He never showed up. My husband waited until 3:30pm and left. So unprofessional. Bob couldn't even call him to let him know he couldn't make it, or to apologize or anything. It is currently 5:00pm and my husband still hasn't received a call. Even if their price was great, or free even, I wouldn't use this company. Clearly you can not count on them for a quote, who knows if they would show up to do the job. My husband wasted a whole day waiting on them to have them never show.

Fence was put in prior to our moving into a new construction home. We had a few issues that we wanted addressed, a crack in one of the bottom supports and to even out under the gate area so our dogs couldn't escape. We contacted them at least 6 times, each of which they said they would send someone out to look at it and give us an estimate. They came out once and left a business card in our door. They never followed up with a phone call or estimate, when we called back the person we had talked to was fired for not returning phone calls. You would think after that they would put in a little effort to get the job done, again no return phone call. We then talked to the manager of Hawkeye and thought now we would get somewhere, we told him everything that had happened and he wanted a couple of days to look into it, we never heard back from him. All in all this is the most frustrating and unprofessional company I have ever had to work with. Stay clear of Hawkeye Fence.

$3,000 might seem like a lot of money but we had almost our entire back yard done over, which was about 138ft. It cost almost as much if not more for others to do the job. The blizzard had knocked down half of one side of the fence and since we were already having them do work we had them take down an old chain link fence and put up a stockade privacy fence in its place. Part of the cost was covered by insurance and they worked with us while we were waiting for our money to come in. They were very prompt and put up the fence in no time. They even came a day after we had snow and just moved the snow aside and were able to still complete the job. We had bought stockade from them before and replaced a smaller portion of our backyard ourselves and the price on this was reasonable too including the delivery of the materials. When they put up our fence they even took into consideration the fact that we have a dog and tried to close any gaps that may have previously existed. When we have more money we plan on having them refence our front yard. I would recommend them to anyone who needs a fence done right, at a reasonable price and quickly.

Originally, I thought the price was a little high, but another company quoted me a price almost $1000 more. And in the end, after understanding the difficult in putting up the fence, I think it was a fair price. The old fence was installed with cement, which is not normal for a cedar stockade fence. So the installers were not expecting that, although they were prepared for the unexpected, because they had the equipment they needed to take care of this. I find it very important when I hire a company that I am comfortable with the people. The Hawkeye Fence staff were friendly and responsive from the beginning. And each time I contacted the company, I got a real person. They answered my questions and were able to accommodate my schedule -- at one point, I had a job interview and asked them to postpone the installation, which they did with no complaint. And they did not put me at the end of a line because of it. They came out the next week. The job was done in a single day. The two men were very professional. When they were done, they went over the details with me. They cleaned up after themselves. The fence looks great and I am very happy. My neighbor was also happy with the job they did. I do need more fence work done and I do plan on using them again. They understand that people might not be able to do the whole fence at the same time because one person told me that they do have customers where they come out each year for four years. It was nice to know that this is a company that will work with me.

I might have shopped around for others, but for $500.00 it was worth it. I wanted to get it done by the winter. I wanted the security to have the house secured the best I could. $500 was nothing compared to the possibility of loosing things that I had in the shed that was in the back yard. The quality and workmanship as well as the material they used was great. They replaced the posts and the paneling which was a much better quality than what I have had previously. They also sell the materials, to people that want to do it themselves.
