Durable Remodeling

We met with a number of roofing contractors and Dean the owner of Durable Remolding really stood out. He took the time to help us understand all the options that we had, what the problems could be as they got into the job and why we had problems in the past with the roof. He brought by a number of different colors and roofing types - making sure that we had the best look for the current property. Once the contract was signed with Dean the communication was fantastic we would get constant updates on progress and scheduling. Based on some other work that was being done and running over we actually had to push out a couple of weeks which Dean graciously accommodated which I am sure was not easy given the schedules for contractors today. The material drop off (dumpster and roof) was seamless and put out of the way so we could go on with our lives. The crew showed up the morning they were scheduled and got right to work. The team first prepped the house by putting tarps everywhere to cover all of our bushes and trees (they warned us that because of the roof materials there may be some damage to some of the smaller plants and bushes - however the team was very careful and did not cause any damage). They also took down our satellite dish and placed it off to the side so if would not get damaged during the process. The team of 3-4 worked all day and well into the night stripping the roof and doing the prep work for putting the roof up. They ran into a late afternoon thunderstorm, but quickly had tarps covering all the open areas and were well prepared for the issue. The team was also very careful to fix and keep any wood that was a problem when they stripped the roof. This meant that the cost was kept down since we did not have to replace much of the under lying roof which was very nice. The second day the team showed up bright and early to continue the process of shingling the roof and preparing it. The team also cleaned up the site so that you would never know they had been at the house. Our previous experience in another house made us very apprehensive as the other contractor said it would be clean but after they left we found parts of the roof and nails for months after the job. Even on the first day as I walked around the house I could barely find anything. Even weeks afterward I believe we have found only one nail which is really unbelievable to me. The team was always available to answer questions and let me know what was going on in the process. The roof turned out great and any open items were quickly rectified by Dean and the team. Dean was great to work with and made sure that we felt comfortable with everything that was going on from start to finish. With a great result.

We first met with Dean the owner who was very knowledgeable and took the time to answer a number of questions about style, options and what needed to be done to securely build the deck. Since this was an insurance issue Dean also worked very well with our adjuster maker sure they understood the extent of the damage - but more importantly what had to be done to do the job right so the deck would hold up - which included ripping it completely down to the ground. Dean and the team showed up for the 5-6 day job and everything ran like clock work. All the equipment and materials were put out of the way so that we could access most of the yard and driveway as we requested. The demo was done professionally with absolutely no mess left on the yard or near the site. The construction also was great as you could hardly tell the team was there with everything closed down for the night - with two small kids this is very important since they like to investigate anything and everything. Dean was even happy to make changes several times even when he was given conflicting answers from us - he was always very careful to make sure he explained the decisions and the ramifications around those decisions. The team was very courteous to our whole family, answering questions and making sure to keep the process moving well. The deck looks absolutely fantastic and the shower is even better (right out of a TV show) with high quality construction. Guest are blown away by how it looks. At the end of the project Dean was vigilant with the punch list of final tasks - keeping on top of all the things that needed to be touched up. It was a pleasure to work with Dean as he was professional, showed up when he said he would, answered the phone all hours of the day and returned calls in under 30 minutes.

Dean of Durable Remodeling came to our house several weeks ago to give us an estimate on replacing all our windows. We had set up the appointment by phone and he was at our house promptly at the scheduled time.Dean spent lots of time with us explaining the replacement process and answered all of our questions courteously.We also were having insulation done through Mass Save and were interested in having our house sided. Because our home is over 100 years old we had lots of questions and concerns about the window replacement and siding processes. Dean gave us several references of area houses where his company had finished the same work. He quoted us an estimate for the new windows which had to meet certain specifications according to Mass Save. After Mass Save gave its approval we contacted Dean to schedule the window replacement after the insulation was completed. We set a date and time and Dean and his crew were at our house on the exact day and time. They were very efficient and knowledgeable and the window replacement process was completed in about 5 hours. They also did a great job of cleaning up. Dean called us later that day to make sure we were satisfied.The new windows look great and we are very pleased. We have also hired Durable Remodeling to do the vinyl siding on our house. In short, we are very happy with our decision to hire Durable Remodeling. They were prompt, professional, and courteous. We would highly recommend this company to other potential customers.

Dean was very prompt in coming out for the first appointment. He answered all our questions and provided an estimate on the spot for all the work. He wasn't the cheapest price, but we felt comfortable with him. He is very professional and prompt with follow up. We can't say enough about his fantastic crew, they were polite, professional and do amazing quality work. Dean designed the deck and we are so pleased with how it came out. Dean's estimate of when the work would start and finish was very accurate. Dean handled ordering the windows, taking all measurements (we used Harvey Windows). Dean make great recommendations to use on deck colors and finishing. We highly recommend Durable Remodeling and will have them do work again on our home.

Dean took the time to measure and provide us with a quote for the work right on the first visit so we didn't have to wait. The quote was very competitive and we also got a possible start date for the project. Dean was very responsive and professional and took care of issues on the spot. We had a slight delay in the completion of the project, but it was right around the July4 holiday and we were waiting on an order of material. Dean suggested an upgrade on the railing which turned out great and goes nicely with the style of the house. The quality of the work was excellent and they cleaned up everything before leaving. Our interactions with Dean throughout the project was effortless. We would definitely recommend him to our friends. Our deck looks stunning and we are very happy with the result.

I live in a wealthy town and therefore typically receive enormously inflated quotes from contractors. I had quotes as preposterously high as $24,000 for a new roof. Dean gave us a fair price, saw the job through and made sure it was done right. Roof looks great.

After talking with multiple contractors, we decided to replace the upper deck (the main deck), with Ipe, an extremely durable wood, and the lower deck (much smaller, and lower to the ground) with Azec. Dean was very experienced with Azec decking, but was honest that he had never worked with Ipe before. I admired his honesty, and trusted his overall know-how. Installing Ipe decking had some complications due to the requirements of the wood, but Dean and his team were fully up to the task, and did an outstanding job on both decks. Dean and his two contractors were a pleasure to work with, from start to finish. I highly recommend them, and would definitely use again.

I emailed them about purchasing the 5 energy star window deal for $1,250 and whether my window size would be covered under the deal. They responded and said that my window sizes would be covered under the deal, but told me to call before purchasing "to discuss terms". I left a message and received a call back about a week later. The guy on the phone was confused about the price of the deal I was going to purchase, but said that because I lived outside of their service area in Roslindale (only about 40 minutes from Brockton), that it would actually cost me $2300 for the 5 window deal. That is insane and shows that the deals they post are really just bait and switch. If you don't want to honor the deal, then don't put it online.

They did a great job replacing our deck that fell in the winter snow. We also needed sill work done on the house. They did everything according to the contract and kept to the price quoted. The only additional amount was due to the work being more extensive than initially anticipated. Dean even made me a small ramp at the doorway, at no additional cost. This is a family business and the workers are all family members. They take pride in their work and are knowledgeable.

Even though I did not go with Durable Remodeling for replacing my roof, Dean was very professional and prompt with responding to my request for an estimate.

Contractor and crew were polite and friendly. Dean was always available to answer my questions. They were very prompt and efficient. The job was done in a day without any difficulties. They cleaned up everything before they left. I would definitely recommend them to others.

Call up to see if he can install a single replacement window and storm door. Completely dismisses me and should have just said we do not want the job. Will not ever refer them nor will I ever call them back again. Sorry you couldn't make a killing off of me, and it was only a $200 job. Guess some people don't need the work. STAY AWAY!

Dean and his crew were amazing. I had an accurate quote within a few hours of contacting him, and the entire process went quickly. We had a bit of a miscommunication about the install date, but rain early in the week had caused some issues in his week's schedule. But as a true testament to his character and his crew's work ethic, he was able to shift some things around and fit my job in the next day. The crew showed up early - they were polite and kept the mess contained. At the end of the day they took care to clean up all of the small debris that was around the house and garden. Dean is wonderful to deal with; honest and upfront which are the best qualities you can ask for in a contractor. Highly recommended - and I will definitely use Durable remodeling for my next project!

This is the 2nd job we had them do and they were excellent. Gutters came out great as did the porch. We are very pleased with both jobs. Will request more estimates in the future - if they have the time! They take their time and take the time to explain what they're doing and any other problems they run into. Our house is not a picnic to work on as it is old. Both Dean and Derek were very responsive to any questions we had. Dean also took time to come look at a leak in a window he had replaced last summer. It had to do with a much bigger issue from our roof and ice dams and not the installation of the window. Unfortunately he was solidly booked so he couldn't do the repair but I was impressed that he called my husband to check to see if we got someone to take care of the problem - luckily we did. Thank you for taking the appropriate time to do the job right!

Fantastic. Dean showed up on a Sunday to give me a quote right on the spot. Told me that day when he would start and complete the job. He started the job and completed the job in the time frame promised. His work is of a superior quality. The job sight was always cleaned up at the end of every day. I had small last minute changes in that I wanted metal railings instead of wood. Dean investigated my request and got back to me promptly with a reasonable price adjustment. They completed the work in four days (not counting two days waiting for bldg inspectors). Dean was always available to answer my calls or texts. Responded promptly. Dean is honest, very intelligent and organized which was reflected in how smoothly the job went from start to finish. I am planning on using Dean for another job in a few months.

Two dead trees fell on our deck and I desperately needed an estimate on the costs to rebuild. No one was willing to come out on such short notice but Dean from Durable Remodeling immediately called me back and he was at my house within 24 hours. Dean is extremely knowledgeable, professional, honest and pleasant. I am looking forward to continuing a business relationship with him for many years to come.

Stripped roof and siding down to wood, installed 18 new windows and wrapped all other exisitng window frames in aluminum; including the large basement windows, installed new 50 year rated CertainTeed roof, installed Cedar Impressions siding to entire house and installed new gutters, downspouts and shutters.

Dean and co. did a great job designing and building our 12x20 PT deck with stairs and railings, which I am sitting on now as I write this review. Dean was responsive and made himself available to discuss plans and recommendations in person on both week nights and Sundays. He obtained all of the necessary permits and did a great job making use of our space ensuring the deck was up to code and accessible from our kitchen down to the backyard given our walkout basement. He cleaned up the entire yard and put on some really nice finishing touches to the railings. Definitely a solid deck that will last!

The crew was on time and professional. They called ahead in the early morning to confirm exact time of their arrival. They were good carpenters and willing to listen to my concerns about child safety. They replaced rotted wood, trued it up and made the deck really solid. They worked efficiently and went the extra mile which I appreciated. They cleaned up thoroughly and left me with a beautiful, reinforced deck that my mother-in-law will really enjoy.

I contacted Dean in November last year, he was very responsive and came out for a quote immediately. On his second visit, we discussed every details of the deck and signed the contract. He was very good at giving advice and trying to fit into our budget. With the winters and bad weather, we didn't start the project until March this year, and because our yard is very close to a creek, we have to file an RDA permit before we can start. Dean was very helpful in terms of talking to the right person and gathering all information for us, and he even covered the wetland delineation labor for the surveyor in his part. It took us almost one month to get the permit, and he completed the deck in about 7 days, his team was quite on time, cleaned everything afterwards, now we have a really beautiful deck. I should tell you that how much we appreciated Dean's job. We started to quote for our deck in May 2014, and hired a contractor in August. He was supposed to finish the project in October, but after he took out the decking, he asked for additional $5000, because he found he had to replace the frame and footing as well. However, that's what we agreed at first place, replacing the frame and deck and everything. Then he never returned any of my calls, or emails, and I have to live with the decking with open-nails for the whole winter. I hate to say, but he was the most horrible contractor I ever dealt with, out of at least twenty contractors I ever talked to (I remodeled the kitchen and bathroom, replaced the floor and carpet) . His name is Sander Alves, Pros Home Services company, don't go to him for anything! Anyway, then I found Dean, everything worked out so easily. He's so responsive, always on time, calls before arriving. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs a home project.

Was very pleased with Dean's mannerisms, professionalism, and willingness to work out all details. Dean gave us a price that was in the middle of our other quotes, but was honest about the job. We were very impressed with the roofers Dean uses. The roofers took no shortcuts in doing a complete strip job and replacement of our roof, including in number of nails used per shingle and quality of shingle. (I know firsthand, as I was just feet away working on an interior room that abuts the porch being re-roofed). Minimal debris was made, and the crew cleaned up their mess efficiently. No hidden fees, upfront pricing, and professional service. Very impressed. We will be using Dean again for our other projects, and we have quite a few. Thanks!

The owner, Dean, responded immediately to my call - he and his brother Derek were prompt for the appointment and he gave me a written quote before leaving. He was very helpful while we were deciding on materials, and he kept us informed of deliveries and scheduling during the project. He was great about responding to e-mails and calls quickly. He was even able to start the project several weeks early, and less than 2 weeks after signing the contract, we were enjoying our beautiful new deck - and that included time for getting a permit and inspections from the town. The crew was great and they seemed to take pride in their work. I rarely write reviews but this project went so smoothly I had to add our experience to the list of positive reviews.
