The work went superbly well! We asked them to cut out the old mortar and repoint various areas of the walls in our basement. Eugene and members of his crew worked quietly and steadily over the course of several days. They were thorough and mindful about their worksmanship. Whoever was working in the basement cleaned up the space before they left for the day. Eugene communicated well with us about the schedule and when they'd be arriving next. Overall, we were very pleased with the quality of Maguire Masonry's work. We'd hire them again!

We repointed our stone basement foundation wall. Maguire Masonry responded to us quickly with the quote. They scheduled the job and finished it as per estimated time. They did a clean work and so far we have been very satisfied with the work done.

It went very well. Eugene did a great job and everything went smoothly we would happily hire him again. His prices were reasonable and he was clear about when he could get the work done and the timing. I will be happy to update the review down the road regarding long term quality, but I have every reason to think his work will hold up super well.

Excellent work ethic and work product. I hired Eugene to demo my brick steps and replace them with granite treads on brick risers. He showed up when he said he would, worked nonstop, and kept the job site clean throughout. His workmanship was outstanding - everything is level, mortar joints are uniform, edges are clean, and it looks great. He was extraordinarily responsive and clearly takes pride in his work. He stuck to his estimate, even when the job required some unanticipated work. I strongly recommend him. If I have other work to be done, he will be my first call.

We got quotes from two masons and went with Eugene as his quote was by far the best price. He was also very prompt responding to email and getting a quote to us. He got us into his schedule quickly, only a few weeks after we signed an agreement. He was even able to start early on the job, which in my experience is almost unheard of for contractors. We paid part of the work up front, and part after completion. Eugene and another mason set up scaffolding very quickly and finished the job very quickly. There was very little downtime while they were working. The masonry was done very professionally and looks great. He did a very good job with cleanup as well, and there was almost no dust from grinding the old masonry. We plan on having Eugene do another job on our foundation as his work was stellar.
Description of Work: Repointing of one side of our single family brick home in Cambridge. Masonry on the wall was probably over 30 years old, and needed to be repointed as there were deep groves in the masonry as well as old metal brackets for shutters.

Eugene and Raphael were prompt, polite, and hard working. Eugene made sure to complete all the projects on time and within the budget. He had to re-point a large area on the side of the house. He set up scaffolding and finished the job on time. He did 3 separate jobs for us and I would hire him again. We did get an estimate from another contractor and Eugene's plan was more sensible and economical. We are very happy we chose Eugene.

Eugene fit this work in for me despite a very busy schedule, he showed up when he said he would, and he did the job very well (including work outside the second floor from a ladder). He also charged a very reasonable price for the work, and did not increase his price despite the fact that the job ended up being much more significant than initially planned. (I paid him extra because of the additional difficulty encountered, but he did not ask for it.)
Description of Work: I needed masonry work done to install a vent pipe through exterior brick wall of my condo building in Charleston, Massachusetts. Scheduled meeting and he never showed up for appointment. Called one day later to say that he had been at my house but, I wasn't there. This was not true. In any case, I asked him if he wanted to reschedule and he said he'd have to call me back to reschedule. I never heard from him again. Waste of my time.

Excellent! The previous owner(s) had patched and shored up the wall over many decades and the rebuild was quite a challenge. From start to finish, Eugene was very professional: showing up when he said he would, polite/hardworking and completing the job on time. I am very pleased with the end result. I will be using Eugene again and am happy to recommend him. (I have attached before and after pictures to give a sense of his work).

They did an excellent job of repairing the garage, including pouring new reinforced concrete in the area above the garage door, patching the ceiling, and replacing some old style concrete blocks with others that closely matched the originals. They started the job when they said and finished when they said.

Eugene was very responsive via phone and texts, and quick to give us an estimate after he had seen the work needed. He was able to come earlier than anticipated (which we very much appreciated). Our garage now looks MUCH better, as do the front steps. He left the place clean of debris. We would highly recommend on the basis of his responsiveness, excellent work and reasonable pricing.

Eugene and Raphael were great taking out the chimney in just a day and a half with pretty much no peripheral damage except what couldn't realistically be avoided. Eugene even put down some new concrete at the base of the chimney since the bricks went below the basement floor. Definitely would hire again for any masonry needs.

Eugene is an artisan. He is extremely talented and thorough and did the pointing job in very good time. The work he did for us is outstanding and we will be using him again. We've had several people in our midtown Cambridge neighborhood stop by and comment on the amazing job he did - cutting deeper into the grout and filling it with the perfect color. It's a work of art! His pricing is good - and because he knows his stuff and is honest he didn't try to oversell us and expect us to do the whole building at once. The areas he suggested we concentrate on were the areas we had started having leaking. Other masons were pushing us to do more and not listening to our concerns. We are a smaller condo complex and don't have a huge budget to spend and appreciated Eugene working to keep costs reasonable. We will be doing more with Eugene in the future! He exceeded expectations!

Spoke with Eugene in late Fall and, after due diligence to reveal pricing that is right in line with what it should be, we set up that ours would be his first project of the year after return from holiday travels in Ireland. Received a call first week of January letting us know he'd be there that Friday to start. One week later, the job was complete and, most amazing to me, the basement was cleaner after he was finished than it was when he began. He took care to tarp off all exposed areas before starting, and went above and beyond to take care of a couple extra concrete fills that we're in the initial spec. Eugene approaches his work as an artisan and professional. His team arrived like clockwork early every day to get the job done with timeliness and quality. We are very pleased with the result and plan to bring him back in Spring for some exterior masonry that needs to be addressed.

contacted the company and informed them what I wanted to get done. Eugene , wanted to see the job and the site. I work late hours but took time off from work to meet him at my house . He came on time saw what he needed to and told me that I would get back with the price. called him couple of days later and asked him I am awaiting the quote , he said he would send it to me as soon as he reached home, again couple of days past by , no response. Texted him to ask him if he was interested in the job because it has been over a week I am still awaiting the quote . He text me back I am busy, thereafter no response. Reading the reviews i think he might good in his work , I cant comment on it , but definitely rating him poor for professionalism. If you are busy and know your schedule why waste someones time . Time is valuable to all.

This project went well from start to finish. Eugene responded quickly to our inquiry with a site visit and then with a proposed cost. Was somewhat less expensive than one of our 3 bids, and a bit more expensive than a second. Was the only one of the 3 bidders who said repairing lintels and back of building bricks might not solve the two water problems I described. Other masons did not indicate any uncertainty about solving those problems with the work we wanted done. The lintels and bricks needed repair, no matter, and lintels likely the water problem source, in our view, but Maguire was honest in saying "maybe not, and could not guarantee that these repairs would solve the water problems." We appreciated that. Started within timeframe he estimated when we inquired 6 weeks out. Used staging from roof to do work in fairly confined area available between our building and the next one, without complaint. Arrived early in a.m., daily, and went right to work. Communicated efficiently daily about what had been done. Answered questions. Very professional, as is the other man who accompanied him each day to do the work. Very easy to work with. All business, and does not waste your time, but friendly and responsive. Excellent results! Beautifully done. Couldn't be more satisfied!
Description of Work: Replaced 6 bent and rusted angle irons above large windows on 3 floors of 100-year-old brownstone. Installed new galvanized angle irons and through wall flashing. Removed and replaced brick in angle iron areas. Before job started, searched for old bricks to match ours, in case removal process resulted in cracking of ours. Perfect match! Repaired cracks in nearby sills. Replaced spalling bricks on back side of building.

Eugene immediately returned my phone call and visited the property that day and quickly got an estimate to me. We needed a quick turnaround as our carpenter could not proceed in framing out the window casings and ordering new windows until the lintels were repaired. Eugene ordered and delivered the materials the next day and had the job complete the following day. Our carpenter said he did an excellent job! The price seemed very fair to us as well. He was very pleasant and I would highly recommend Maquire Masonry without hesitation!
