After an 11 inch rain our basement flooded and we contracted with Dry Zone Basement Systems in order to avoid this ever happening again. They arrived on time, did the work in a professional manner, finished sooner than promised and left the basement cleaner than it was before they came. The quality of their work appears to be excellent but, of course, there is no way for me to be absolutely certain that the flooding problem has been resolved until we again have an episode of very heavy rain. The only issue that can be noted is that the system they install is expensive.
Description of Work: Installed 2 sump pumps, a perimeter drain system and a dehumidifier in my basement.

Unless you want to spend thousands they don't want to know you. Too big toi fail. Better with a small local company. Fancy brochure and computer graphics but you're paying for it. Would not hire.

Response from DryZone Basement Systems
Dear [member name removed], Thank you for your honest feedback. We do strive to find the best solution for each individual's unique waterproofing situation, and did provide you with a quote for much less than $7,000 that would combat the area in your basement where water usually comes in. We are a small, local company in Taunton, Massachusetts. We are a dealership for Basement Systems, Inc. (similar to a franchise) so we are lucky enough to have marketing materials available to provide our customers from the corporate office. We hope you will reconsider because we would truly like to provide you with a solution for your basement waterproofing concerns.

When I first called, we were in the middle of those torrential June rain storms, so it took a couple of weeks to get an appointment. But they emailed to confirm that week and then called the night before. Jay arrived promptly at the appointed time was terrific. He brought his laptop, which had different (video) models of how basements take on water. He went through everything thoroughly and answered my questions. He gave me two options -- one for $650 and one for $1,200. But he also asked me if I could live with the problem ? it definitely wasn't a hard sell, which I appreciated. We ended up having our gutters done, which we're hoping will solve the problem. If it doesn't, however, I'm definitely going back to Jay.

They were very professional, prompt, and nice to work with. Unfortunately, their repair didn't fix the issue and, in fact, made the issue worse. Water still seeped through the crack, just out the sides of their repair surface AND, we ended up with water also seeping up through the floor where they opened a section of the floor under the crack and re-cemented. The floor seepage was new after their repairs. We called them back and were advised that this happens as the water "has to go somewhere," so it comes through new cracks. Now we needed a sump pump. We were given three estimates for three variations of sump pump system. We decided to get a second opinion and ended up hiring a new company who repaired the crack in a manner so that water now no longer seeps out the side of it. We had this company install a sump pump for a lower price. Unfortunately, we are still having issues with water seeping up through the floor where DryZone removed a chunk to repair the crack in the wall. Therefore, I'm pretty displeased. We were provided a solution that apparently wasn't a solution (since "the water has to go somewhere"), and were handed a new problem with which we need to deal (which continues after having a sump pump installed, so DryZone's second solution wouldn't have addressed that issue either).
Description of Work: They were hired to repair a vertical crack in our foundation that was resulting in water seeping through the wall.

It was a very good visit. He cleaned everything, and checked the system. He suggested we get a back-up battery system in case of power failure, which we agreed was a good idea, but that we would wait until we had some ready cash. We also discussed de-humidifiers, and he gave us some information. It was a useful visit and we accomplished what we needed.
Description of Work: We have a sump pump system that was due to be serviced. The company we had been using doubled the price for servicing. We decided to find another company from Angies's List. Ryan came, introduced himself, did the job and explained what he was doing.

Absolutely awesome. My basement is mold-free, dry, and the humidity levels have dropped from 65-70%, down to a steady 25-30% humidity level.
Description of Work: I needed to have sump pumps installed in my basement because I am renovating my basement and wanted to ensure I would not have any future issues with it flooding and being damaged. I cleaned a significant amount of black mold, mold, and wood rot from my basement. You could smell the mold, and feel the humidity as you came down to the basement. DryZone came by; offered a great, on point estimate of services; and provided me with a plethora of information. When the service rep left my house I felt like I knew everything about the process and felt confident enough to install the system myself. Their crew was timely, professional, curious, and clean. They installed my 5 custom-made basement windows, 3 sump pumps, and over 70 feet of underground piping to transfer the water to the sump pumps. I am more than pleased with their work and have recommended them to other family members who are considering basement waterproofing too.

We decided to get the basement done because we wanted blown in insulation and the company wouldn't do the job without a permanent solution for our damp basement. Although we haven't had it flood, we only lived in it for a year and it was certainly damp on a regular basis. Overall the job done was great. The salesman was knowledgeable and helpful with all of our questions. We had a number of quotes done for the project and we felt that the estimate for Dry Zone was fair. Since it was a large company, we felt safe if there was ever any issue. The workers did the job quickly and in only one day when it was estimated for two. Since the project we have enjoyed that our basement is less damp and we feel safe that it won't have major issues. To have the backup sump pump for loss of power was almost another $2,000 so we weren't able to afford that, which was frustrating. We are happy with the job and hope to get the rest of the basement done at some point!

DryZone was extremely professional from start to finish. They came out and performed a detailed inspection of the basement to prepare their estimate, and spent a great deal of time explaining different options for waterproofing and finishing the basement. They provided a comprehensive proposal with detailed educational materials and background information on all the component equipment. They showed quite a bit of flexibility in scheduling and completing the work, to adjust for the construction schedule of other work being done on the house at the same time. They arrived on time, and completed the work on schedule. During the course of the project, they also worked well with our general contractor to problem solve minor issues and offer creative solutions. Very happy with the work.

There was a high water table issue they had to fight. They thought at one point that they may not be able to do the job in the time allotted. With patience and portable pumps they got the water to recede enough to proceed with the installation. The pvc pipe directed the water to a small dry well they dug and capped. They cleaned up after themselves when the work was done. I was quite impressed.
Description of Work: Re[laced a sump pump by reconstructing the hole and putting in their below the basement floor model. Replaced the flexible plastic hose I had with pvc pipe. Very professional product and service.

It turned out that the company wasn't quite what I was looking for (they do foundation repairs, but I needed someone to level a sunken slab, whereas my foundation was still level), but nevertheless they were absolutely great.I called them on Thursday and they gave me an appointment for the Tuesday after. In the meantime, they sent me a (very big) brochure by mail, explaining in detail what they do and the pros and cons of various foundation fixing methods. They called me back to confirm the appointment, and Andy, the person who came out to my house was very nice and on time.Instead of trying to sell me something I don't need, he immediately told me that I should rather be looking for a company that levels floors, and gave me some tips on what to look for, and what price range to expect from them. All in all, very good experience. The office stuff takes very much care for details, and the person who came out to my house was very helpful. If I should ever have a real foundation issue, they would definitely be the first ones I'd call.
Description of Work: None, as it turns out I called them out for something they don't really do (slab levelling).

DryZone from the estimate to the completion was a great company to work with . Jay who designed the system explained in detail how the system would work and why the water flowed around the house after inspecting the interier and exterier of the property. The price while expensive was consistent with other estimates and after reviewing Angie's list for comments decided to go with them. They showed up on t ime with and since there was no bulckhead entrance they had to walk across hardwood floors and down a small staircase t o the basement. The sealed the walls and made a corridor to the basement. Everythign had to be removed from the basement across a pattio and into thier trucks. I inspected the job after the first day and they had three men wroking to created the drain system. The foremen explained how the system woudl work and that when finished it would not retain any water. They completed the job and would not leave until I was called and came to see the results. What Impressed me the most was that they completely cleanted ans sweeped the basement. my floors were as good as new and they washed the pattio (it was painted white and left it in good condition. I would recommend them if you have any need for basement work.
Description of Work: Purchased a home which had a know wet basement and water seeping from the floor and suronding walls. Original home was built in 1940 with pored Foundation. DryZone was hired to Design and install a two level French drain system wit multiple pumps and external drrain system . Complexity in that the basement had wet spots within the floor and from the walls during rains storms and afte the rain. Basement was damp all the time and the smelled.

Working with Dry Zone Basement Systems was like a textbook example of how home contractors should operate. After discovering them online, and visiting them at a local home show, they came on site for an evaluation. Prior to the visit, they also provided copious amounts of information about their products and how they work (including a book) to review. Andrew, the sales rep who came out for the evaluation, was friendly, knowledgeable, and honestly seemed to enjoy his job. After crawling through the dirt, we sat down and went over the initial proposal on his laptop -- they have this nice software that shows your floor plan and videos detailing the proposed solution right there, which is nice. After talking about the main beam (which I did not initially consider Dry Zone for), he also mentioned that they could potentially take care of that, too. This led to a second evaluation, this time of the main beam, by the owner of the company, Todd. Their proposed solution involved sistering the main beam, placing a I-Beam under the middle, supporting it with their on-site fabricated SmartJacks. The entire quote, including both the encapsulation and main beam repair, was significantly cheaper than the other quotes we received, felt like a better solution, and we subsequently hired them. The work crew that came on-site was super-friendly, worked all day, and the results were immediately noticeable -- the first day they were able to raise the main beam by 3 inches in the center! They even helped move the Hot Water heater (previously sitting on the dirt) onto a better patio block base, and made sure the CleanSpace liner and TerraBlock insulation were directly under the heater to help keep the tank warm (something I didn't even consider!). It's this sort of attention to detail that sets companies like Dry Zone apart from the others. The finished product looks simply amazing. My house is level again, securely supported, and the crawlspace looks fantastic! The insulation, besides it's obvious value of improving energy efficiently, also has a nice side effect of providing some padding when crawling around. The liner feels tough and durable (It's more like a pool liner than plastic sheeting), and everything is sealed up nice and tight. The results from the CleanSpace system are also measurable. I have a temp/humidity sensor down there, and after the installation the crawlspace now has much closer (if not the same) temperature and humidity readings as the house. The air quality is also noticeably improved, as our forced-air system no longer has any "dirt" smell to it. All in all, I had a fantastic experience with everyone at Dry Zone and would highly recommend them to anyone considering this sort of work.
Description of Work: Repair, re-support, and leveling of our house's sagging main beam with their SmartJack system, and total crawlspace insulation and encapsulation with their TerraBlock and CleanSpace products. The work also included a few other items, including vent covers, new entry doors, and a to-earth drain. The entire job took three days.

Wonderful... Crew called before they arrived. Arrived on time. Very Professional and personable. Introduced each member of the crew to me. Which I very appreciated. Calvin inspected the basement and was very appreciative that the basement was prepared for the installation.... Note to customers... take the time to totally clear out the basement area where the installation is to take place... Steve, the project manager, went over EVERY part of the installation with me. He was amazing. He also explained the importance of the back up pump. The installation went very well. Clean up was amazing. The job was done in 1 day. Could not be more happy.. Now we are waiting for the next big rain storm... Again I can not praise the crew and Joe , our first contact enough

What a great company! The initial estimate was very informative, no pressure and was to the penny after installation. The installers, led by Shaun, were fantastic; courteous, friendly and neat, putting plastic over everything we had not already covered and really cleaning up after everything was finished. They were also very creative when having to get around our quirky old house's rocks sticking out of the foundation. Even knowing that it will never be a finished basement, they still wanted it to look good. And I'm sure they'll do an equally great job when they come back in the spring to bury the discharge pipe to the backyard (ground still frozen at this time). Both our Shopvac and ourselves can now rest easy after years of having to clean up after heavy rains! Only thing they didn't get to do was install the pipe all the way behide our garage as originally planned; but this was only because it turned out to be too difficult to dig. They did knock $$ from the total price and so far haven't had a problem with water coming back in despite the shorter pipe.

Andrew came to our house on a Saturday morning, accomodating our request to come as soon as possible. He spent 1/2 hour at our house, measured out the basement space and educated us about different options. He offered 3 solutions and gave estimates for each. He was very professional, and not pushy at all - would have accepted us choosing the lowest priced option. The prices he quoted were in line with another we were quoted. In the end, we did not choose to go with this company because the other company that came out for a quote turned out to be owned by a relative, and was offering the same solution for the same price.
