I was a recient widow and threw myself into a project-- I had never hired a contractor before and didn't know I shouldn't havegiven him my deposit. His wife came into my gallery exclaiming she would buy much of my art for her children for Christmas because they all loved mermaids. ( which never happened) They had me over for dinner at the friend's house that had recomended me. So I hired him. He and his wife have two deaf children .. so when they didn't start the job on time and told me they couldn't give me my deposit back I felt for Mark and told him he could work it off with other needed projects. Such as a curb cut for the gallery and light facing the gallery sign, some wood cut outs. Mark did the curb cut , and the light, Which I am told he over charged me.With a remaining ballance of aprox.$14.000 Then nothing no more help or money back no matter how many times I tried to get his help. I sent letters and called on the phone. He never returned my phone calls. Then I got phone calls from the engineer he used for the curb cut because Mark never paid him. Almost $ 3,000.00 To this date I nothing has been returned nor the engineer paid. I have worked with Consumer Assistance Council, Inc. to collect from Mark Wheeler and he would not return their efforts as well. Inclusive of phone calls and letters.
