 + -1 moreThey took complete advantage of my elderly grandmother and made her wait in her car and she has copd and she shouldn't have had to do that, they promised to move all Furniture they did not move a single thing and when I got back home my carpets were still Atrocious would not recommend them to anyone I know, I will never use them again

 + -1 moreSo...how did it go? We learned valuable lessons- And listen up closely to this tip, Folks. WHEN YOU HIRE STANLEY STEEMER YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHO YOU'RE LETTING IN YOUR HOUSE, APARTMENT, OFFICE, ETC. We were happy customers for years- and I might add- BIG tippers!---We never checked previous reviews. The fact that we got a new pair of guys each time- --didn't really bother us- They were always nice and polite. Folks- IT ONLY TAKES ONE TIME- that's ONE TIME for your home to be destroyed. Very valuable lessons learned, here. So, how did it go? We placed a claim with the Better Business Bureau MA (which was transferred to the BBB, Ohio- their corporate office state- and the BBB is STILL waiting for a response. We placed a complaint with the MA State Attorney General office- and they are STILL waiting for a response. We are out THOUSANDS of dollars for services we otherwise would NOT have had to use- And we are steps from taking them to court. That's how it went. I appreciated their work for years- but we would NOT let them in our house again if they were the last company on the planet to hire for carpet/upholstery services.... AND YOU should follow this advice. Caveat Emptor- Buyer Beware! Do NOT use Stanley Steemer.
Description of Work: After several years of terrific service by this location, we hired them for carpet-cleaning for November 21, 2017. We discovered after they left that one of the workers deposited debris (sand, sediment and carpet-fibers in a mini-basement sink. On Thanksgiving Day we spent HOURS sopping up water and debris from the carpet and a wool rug. We called their Emergency # and explained the disaster. They DID come out (at their expense) and cleaned the carpet and rug- They left heaters and dehumidifiers for a week to try to fix the situation. We could not use our kitchen sink, washer, dryer or dishwasher during this time. That sink clogged the main drain of the house. We had to hire a plumber (not easily available at Thanksgiving), who told us to get to the main drain pipe of the house to unclog- we had to hire a carpenter to tear out the wood-panel behind the sink. The plumber snaked 25 feet of pipe and concluded what we already knew, by site-the clog was due to sand, sediment and carpet fibers. He cleared the pipe- The credit card company (after affidavit and due diligence) credited back to us that charge- but in the meantime- we are stuck with bills for a plumber, carpenter and also painter to paint the panel that had to be sawed to get to the main. The SS Braintree office dumped us onto another company- Corvel- and did not return calls, emails, etc. As an aside- I started to upload pictures (we have close to 100 of them)- not knowing how many pictures this site will allow- I stopped. They were numbered in my file- Those uploaded may not be the most compelling- You're seeing the sand, sediment and carpet fibers that clogged the drain, cleared by the plumber, which clogged the main drain to the house-the mini-sink and part of the panel that had to be sawed/removed thought to be the location of the main drain- All of this would NOT have been necessary- a complete royal disaster- had it not been for the actions of the SS worker.

 + -1 moreThey don't do a depth cleaning they only do a surface cleaning. That's my opinion because after was had done it looked beautiful and in a few days it was right back to where it was, so I replaced it all. He did what he was trained to do but it's not a good job. They were nice guys and right on time. But they're system, the way they do it, is not that good.
Description of Work: They clean my carpets. He did several flights of stairs. He did 3 flights of stairs and good sized landings, or hallways in between them.

 + 0 moreDid not hire. Their estimate came in three weeks after it was promised, and only after several contacts were made by me trying to get it from them. When the estimate did come in finally, it was more than double in price all the other estimates I got. They also offered several "optional" services at additional cost that were included in others' estimates.

 + -1 moreIt was great! It was easy to schedule a time and they were available quickly. The cleaning itself went better than we had ever hoped. The carpets were stained and smelled terrible, but they came out great after these guys were through with them! We have two kinds of carpet in the house and they recommended to get the low shag kind if we ever end up replacing the other carpet. Very nice guys, very efficient, and well worth the money!
Description of Work: We had six rooms cleaned and deodorized.

 + -1 moreI don't they are fabulous. They don't move any of the furniture and they are much more economically feasible then. They only wash what is visible on the floor which is probably fine but they do left under the table they don't move the table and then put those little things underneath to keep the moisture, they do the outskirts it's like when you dust and don't move things off the table. Their fast they come in and come out, the floor don't stay wet for too long and it's adequate, my daughter's dogs come over a lot it get other dogs here.

 + -1 moreI made the appointment online which was very simple. The cleaners arrived on time and looked over the job, they proceeded to prepare by bringing up their equipment. The 2 cleaners were friendly and professional and quite fast. They new exactly what to do. The cleaning came out perfect, we just could not use our living room for 2 days because everything needed to dry. I am very happy with the results and will definitely use them again.

 + -1 moreSupervisor misattached the water hose to an outside faucet. Water ran along the pipe into the foundation into the between wall space and it turned out to have ruined the Masonite walls of my finished basement. I asked them to file an incident report from the truck which they did but no one called me about the problem. When a regional supervisor did arrive, he flicked water onto the INSIDE Masonite wall and took a photo of it - while telling me that prove they aren't responsible. He basically was saying it was his word against mine. Homeowner's eventually paid part of my claim and never subrogated to this merchant even though I had a written statement from the job supervisor stating they did cause the flood. Months later, the job supervisor said he had offered me drying equipment to dry out the walls but that was a falsehood. What he had said was "I have some rags in the truck to clean this up with" I had to chase them at every point during the entire process. I had wrongly assumed this to be a reputable organization. They did about $15,000 of damage and I had to pay them the $450 anyhow.
Description of Work: Cleaning personnel did an excellent job on my carpets and furniture as they had the previous 3-4 times I used them.

 + 2 moreBEWARE AGGRESSIVE UP SELLING I called and made arrangements through the 800 phone number. Assumed they would dispatch one of 3 local franchises on Boston North Shore. Instead sent franchise from Boston South shore (Braintree) 90 minutes away. Phone quote was $397. Upon arrive the lead guy aggressively starts to up-sell. Pretends his handheld computer is broken and can't provide an official quote, so he makes up a price. FINAL PRICE WAS >$1,000!!!! I should have purchased a new rug instead. Provided a free gift as consolation for the $1,000 bill. Not surprisingly, the "gift" was already opened, broken and useless. Work performed was mediocre. AVOID THE BRAINTREE FRANCHISE. DECEPTIVE PERSON

Description of Work: They complained about EVERYTHING and we were not happy with the service performed. We never received a return call when we asked to speak with the manager. My wife thought the two guys looked like they had just been released from prison. We examined the rugs the next day and we don't think any of the spots or dirt was moved. I called a different company and he was here half the time... and took all of the dirt and spots. Great guy.... Great Service...  + 0 moreWorkers were pleasant. The price was 1/3rd more than quoted on phone as one of my two couches was a sectional. Makes sense that a larger piece of furniture would cost more, however, when booking the job over the phone the size of the couches never came up, although she did ask other questions about the furniture. Would rather have had the correct price up front. VERY unhappy with how wet the furniture was left. I expected damp to the touch, but the furniture was very wet. Was told that the cushions would dry in 4-8 hours, faster with a fan on them. We had two fans on the furniture and it took over thirty hours to be dry enough to put the cushions back on the couch. The sectional seems clean and am happy with the finished product. However I regret spending the money to clean the 2nd couch. It was light colored and very soiled. I asked one of the cleaners if he thought it would get clean and he told me he thought it would. Some parts of this couch look clean now, but the cushions look slightly streaked with dirt. Based on the streaks, I think the cushions could have gotten cleaner if more time were spent on them. The cleaning was scheduled at the end of the day on a Friday, which may have had an impact. Sorry to say I would not use this company again, nor would I recommend them.

 + -1 moreWe have used Stanley Steemer previously and have always been pleased with their service. Two men (Jeffrey Gale and Leonard Bernhardt) called prior to arriving. They came within the time frame stated. They were very professional and efficient and did a great job. Our carpet is very old, but it looks nice and clean now. After cleaning they consulted us to see if we were happy with the results. They were both very respectful and took pride in the results of their work. Good job!!
