Fairways Construction

This contractor (Fairways Construction/ Matt Corcoran) has not finished the job as promised and is nearly 2 months behind when he said the job would be completed. Most frustrating is that there are minor finishes to complete but the contractor fails to show up and complete them. Matt Corcoran/Fairways continually promises to show up and never does, then will not return phone calls. We made the mistake of paying him in full because he said that he had to pay the suppliers (i.e. the lumber yard). We wrote the contractor the final check 3 weeks ago and that was the last time we saw him. He basically took the money and ran. We made and appointment on the phone to meet last weekend for the final inspection, he didn't show up and he didn't call?again. Throughout the process Matt Corcoran/Fairways did not act professionally. We have had to supervise Matt Corcoran, and continually give guidance as to how to do the job correctly. For example, the contractor poured a concrete footing for a main support on a 2-story deck, but the major corner post did not line-up, almost completely missing the concrete footing causing a potential structural and safety hazard. We had to develop a plan to correct this mistake as he didn't offer any solutions. In total we have spent over $12,000.00 with Fairways Construction/Matt Corcoran and am extremely disappointed. Would never hire again. We strongly advise you seek other contractors. EDITED NOV 3, 2011: Fairways Construction owners and contractors failed to deliver services as agreed, required Boston Inspectional Services to call them back to address safety issues twice; and the 2nd story deck railing they installed is still falling apart. Contractor did not take the work permit out in his name; but another individual (Michael Wosny). Further investigation revealed that Matt Corcoran does not have a Contractor's Supervisor Licence. Matt Corcoran only has a Home Improvement Certificate which he tries to pass off as an official contractor's license. Matt Corcoran failed to show up on the job site when they said they would, and acted unprofessionally throughout the process. Matt/"Mattie"Corcoran will make promises and fail to deliver; ridiculous excuses abound: "I didn't show up today because I got a bad headache from riding the Teacup ride at Storyland!" "We didn't complete the job like we said we would last weekend because one of the guys had to leave to go to a bachelor party" REALLY????????? FAIL! Buyer Beware!!!!!! Do not hire!!!!
