ARAN CONSTRUCTION

The first thing you should know about this guy is that he's a full-time real estate agent who does construction and other related jobs on the side (or should I say multitasking while he's making a ton of calls for his real estate business). Herein lies the problem. Eddie was so focused on his other job that he was very unfocused on the job I had paid him for, and the end result, unfortunately, was rather slipshod and careless work. Not to mention very slow work with the installation dragging on for weeks because he couldn' t manage to come over here more than one or two part-time days a week and even one week when he couldn't make it at all. I discovered numerous screws missing from the newly installed door frames, and more disturbingly, large gaps between the old window frame and the metal t-coil strips that were supposed to be installed flush with the frame. I only found out about these things subsequently when I began having painters come over for estimates on painting the window moulding. One painter noticed the missing screws, and another saw the gaps along the exterior of the window frame. I wish I had been more observant during the actual installation, but it took someone else's eyes to spot the things that were either hastily done or forgotten about altogether in the flurry of real estate calls that Eddie apparently deemed too important to deal with on his own time. For what it's worth, he did come back eventually to put in the missing screws and add a strip of flashing to cover up the gaps along the window frame exterior despite his persistent air of disbelief that he could ever have missed or forgotten anything during the installation. To sum up, you may get a seemingly good price from this guy, but you'll end up paying a much higher price in aggravation and frustration. If I had to do it over again, I would choose a full-time contractor instead of someone who insists on multitasking with two disparate jobs that both require full-time concentration and attention to detail.

Eddie was pleasant, and helpful; he helped generate a vision and a plan for a previously under-utilized space in our home. He was on-time and hardworking. He brought his own tools and cleaned up each day, bringing debris away with him. He is fastidious in his work and pays attention to detail as well as home owner's ideas.
