Stairhopper Movers

I had purchased a "deal" on Angieslist to have Stairhopper movers move most of our stuff from our apartment to our new house. When I called the company, the owner answered and she upsold me, which was kind of annoying. I told her that we weren't taking a lot of our furniture, but she still recommended the larger truck. They came right on time, and the guys were very very friendly. I could definitely have been more prepared, but they had boxes and tape and helped pack some stuff. It took longer than I'd hoped, but that was not their fault--I just wasn't ready. They made me feel at ease, which was great. Afterwards when we were settling up they said that they were going to charge me for approximately 45 minutes that it apparently took them to arrive at my Somerville apartment, and then 45 minutes it was going to take to get back from Melrose (45 minutes to Charlestown??)! They also charged me for each box and roll of tape that I used (and that they used) which was unexpected. I definitely felt nickeled and dimed, and it left a bad taste in my mouth. They were very friendly and competent and careful, and I would use them again, but I would ask them upfront what all their charges are so you're not surprised at the end.

Movers arrived about 20 minutes late for their 8:00 a.m. arrival but the driver called ahead to let me know when they would arrive. I wasn't under the gun in terms of time so this wasn't an issue, just something to note. When the movers did arrive they were very professional & efficient. One mover introduced himself and the others, did a quick walk-through to identify what was being moved, and then went over insurance before starting the move. This took 5 minutes, tops. Moving out of our first home took almost no time at all, maybe a little over an hour. My wife and I packed all our own boxes, Stairhopper provided loading and unloading services only. Amusingly the movers moved faster than I could pack up loose ends. (That's a ding on me for being ill-prepared.) The crew that showed up were efficient and careful with all of my furniture, even the crappy IKEA stuff I keep meaning to get rid of. All furniture was wrapped at no additional cost though we did pay extra for a mattress cover. The charge for the mattress cover was discussed on the phone before hand and I had the option of not using one. Unloading the truck took slightly longer, maybe 2.5 hours. The new apartment is on the 3rd floor and lacks an elevator so extra time was definitely expected. Despite having to lug our 50+ boxes up 2 flights of the stairs the movers didn't seem to slow their pace. The actual moving costs were very close to their estimates. I was quoted $812.50 and it cost ~$870. Additional costs were explained up front: Tape, mattress covers (optional), and boxes. Move time starts when the movers leave their facility in Charlestown and ends when they return. There are also charges for tolls which makes perfect sense. The only negative I have is that one of the movers left a hand print stain on one of our couch cushions and I didn't catch it when signing off on the delivery. Ultimately this wasn't a big deal, the stain is mostly gone so we saw no need to contact Stairhopper. *Slight Amendment: Be careful to remove their moving tape as soon as you are in your new home. The tape left a visible brown residue on 2 desks (used to secure drawers). Several rounds of goo removal later and we still have tape marks. I would suggest providing additional covers for moving or requesting that the tape not be applied to bare furniture.

We needed to get a mover is short order. We had 10 days from the time we found the apartment till the day we would move in. I found Stairhopper Movers here on Angie's List. I called and spoke with Mona. She explained everything in detail. I came back to Angie's List and purchased a coupon to save some money on the move. When the movers arrived (early I might add) we found where they could load the truck. They started right in, no questions asked. The move did take longer than I expected. But then again I am not a mover. All in all it took 3 guys a little over 8 hours to move me from my 4th floor apartment to a 3rd floor apartment. All the furniture was wrapped and handled everything like it was their own move. Friendly, omg so friendly. It was like having friends over to help you move. I would highly recommend Stairhopper Movers to anyone making a move.

They guys arrived at my place a head of time. They were efficient, very hardworking, and fun to work with. They uploaded my stuff to the truck, and at the new place they put furniture and boxes at the location that I desired. Everything went very well, except that I found some crack at the cover of a standing lamp as they left--not a big deal since I didn't wrap the cover and the lamp not very expensive. The entire job takes about 2 3/4 hours to complete (not including the time they commuted back and force from their office to my place). I highly recommended them.

The experience was great. The driver and his helper were excellent. They arrived on time, worked quickly and efficiently., took care to cover the furniture and moved it in less than one hour. The dispatcher never told the driver that the job had a coupon, but, the problem was resolved in minutes and was no hassle. I would definitely use them again.

They weren't exceptionally quick, but they were efficient. There was a minor breakage and they immediately deducted that from the bill.

They mentioned additional cost for time to and from their depot to work site. This would have doubled the the cost. They were then not the cheapest mover on your suggested list.

Stairhoppers was great! Not only was it the best quote I got but they were extremely professional and hard working. They were able to move everything in one day; other quotes told me it would take two days. They never complained when I said they had put something in the wrong place and my new house was hard with every item having to go up or down a flight of stairs. It was a long day starting at 6:45am and ending at 8:30pm (and they still had to drive another 1.5 hours back to Boston). I had two complaints, one minor. First they arrived 45 minutes late in the morning which almost jeopardized my closing time but I made it. The second was that they disassembled my treadmill (which weighs nearly 800 pounds) and while I know that was a lot of work, they didn't assemble it correctly causing me a $190 bill from GymSource to fix it. But in terms of the guys, the work, the professionalism - they were great. I highly recommend them and would use them again.

Stairhopper is owned and operated by husband and wife team of Adrian and Mona who's professionalism and dedication permeates the nice company they've successfully built and grown. We had originally shortlisted Stairhopper based on their Angie's List and Yelp reviews and they lived up to their reputation. Both Adrian and Mona were very patient and responsive to numerous questions via both email and phone (particularly relative to other providers). They helped to reassure us throughout the inherently stressful planning, preparation and execution of a cross-country move in the middle of winter. Speaking of winter, they delivered on their move schedule guarantee despite a winter snowstorm in the Northeast that cancelled several hundred flights including the one my family was scheduled to take. They also managed to seamlessly mitigate any disruption from one of their team members who was initially going to drive cross-country with the truck being pulled away for a family emergency. The team led by James and Mike were personable, professional and very easy to work with. My wife and I would highly recommend Adrian, Mona and the Stairhopper team for your moving needs.

Everything went very smoothly and quickly on day that started cold, then went to freezing rain, then snow. They did the job effortlessly. They were definitely stairhoppers as they had to move everything up three flights of stairs. No problem.

They were so punctual and professional and the price was excellent! I can't say more about them. I moved out of Boston and into the burbs and it took longer than I thought but it didn't matter because the price was better than others. The only thing I would say is buyer beware...if they use any of their supplies to help you move, the will charge you for it and its not cheap. They charged me for tape. The quote leads you to believe its included but its not.

This is my second move in Boston and the second time I've used Stairhopper Movers and , just like first move the movers were, professional, polite, hardworking and careful with all my belongings. They worked a really long day ( my fault for not being organized this time around) and never were being less then 100% professional. Calling Adrian at the office to set up the move ( and reschedule once ) was straightforward and pleasant and they helped me to keep all the details straight. I hired Stairhopper Movers to move my home, from Brookline to Cambridge. I contacted three weeks prior to move, did my checking with several movers - I have to say I was very overwhelmed since there were so many to choose from when I searched on the internet. So I asked around to co-workers, friends and family, then narrow it down to three or four moving companies. After calling each one I decided to use Stairhoppers. I felt comfortable talking to them, they were helpful just in planning the move, and I felt very confident I made a smart choice. So I wasn't surprised the day of the move when my three movers showed up and made a very hectic day not-so hectic and with fewer worries. The price was fair and the service way more then I expected. Thank you Stairhopper Movers, and thanks to my movers who came out and got the job done.

We moved our 2 bedroom condo from Boston to Somerville and we were truly amazed how quickly Stairhoppers moved all our belongings. They had everything out of my apartment and into the truck within two hours and they were just as fast with the unloading. My entire move took less then half a day and I was able to spend the rest of the day getting acclimated to my new neighborhood, instead of waiting on movers. I had a great experience with Stairhoppers, they are the BEST.

The guys who did the moving were great, but the estimate provided turned out to be about half the actual bill. In fairness, the move was the day after some snow fell, but everything was well-plowed and shoveled on both ends of the move, so this doesn't explain the 100% difference between the estimate and the actual bill. The movers arrived an hour later than scheduled and it took far longer than was estimated by the owner. One of the movers dragged mud into the house that we had to spend an hour or so removing from carpeting after they were done. When I called after to complain about both the bill and the mess, they did offer a minor price adjustment - but it still ended up at about twice the estimate. All-in-all, I'd have to say they low-balled the estimate to get the job and we probably would have saved money with the second-lowest bidder. The guys who actually moved us, however, were professional (except for the mud) and very pleasant. They worked very hard and we feel badly leaving a mixed review since it wasn't their fault. The whole experience, however, left a bad taste in our mouths. The last thing you want after a long day and night of moving is to be presented with a bill for twice what you're expecting. We expected something higher than the estimate, but not double. Either the owner messed up with his estimate or this is a deliberate part of their marketing strategy. If it is, it's not a good reflection on them.

It was perfect. They did a great job. They were early. They were efficient, fast and very courteous. I have also referred them to others.

They were prompt, professional, and worked quickly but carefully.

I have moved many times in my life due to my job and used a large range of moving services, from national chains to small operations. This time was an interstate move and I have to say Stairhopper Movers was the absolute best. They have the professionalism of a large company with the caring attitude of a mom and pop operation. I enjoyed working with them and will definitely be using them for my next move.

Stairhoppers were so energetic and efficient I was starting to think they were robots!!! They were up and down my stairs half a dozen times, carrying furniture and boxes, and they never once seemed to pause for breath. Thanks to their tireless efforts, I was moved quickly and able to settle into my new home so much faster then I thought I would be able to. Their movers are really great and dedicated workers.

It is the craziest weekend to move apartments (think crazy on steroids) in Boston. All colleges move in over this weekend. We had 2 teams of movers from StairHoppers; one moved our daughter out of her Backbay apartment on Saturday morning, and another moved her into her Fenway apartment on Sunday, all the while complying with each apartment's time restrictions as well as the city's new parking restrictions! These men didn't complain at our daughter' poor packing skills (boxes badly packed, box bottoms opening, etc) but merely repacked or taped her boxes. And they did it all quickly and joking the whole time. In addition, the 2nd apartment is on the 3rd floor with no elevator! Yup - these men are saints!

Due to a last minute move, I had to pack up and move right away. I must have called 10 different moving companies in the Boston area and all of them wanted to schedule me our for weeks. Then I called Stairhoppers. Once I explained the situation, they set me up with the next day appointment and had me ready to move all the way to New York in no time. I am a very satisfied customer.

I used Stairhoppers to move my stuff into storage and then 6 months later, move it out of storage again. The movers were very good and the storage facility was clean, new, secure and safe. None of my items were damaged during the move or storage and Stairhopper Movers were quick to give me a new appointment when I was ready to get my stuff. Both times , there were equally good. When I gave up my apartment after my fiance and I got engaged , I wasn't sure what to do with all my stuff. Stairhopper Movers were able to pick up all my items and transfer them to their storage facility at a better price then I thought. There were no hidden fees and the final tally actually came lower then they quoted! I know my belongings are safe in their storage facility and will be waiting until when we finally buy our first home. Thank you Stairhoppers!!!

For anyone who lives in an apartment building without an elevator , you know how the idea of moving can inspire dreat. This time around i decided to hire movers and boy am I glad I went with Stairhopper Movers They got my move done in half the time and their movers were great! They didn't even complain about stairs. Just showed up, packed everything and moved it all to my ( thankfully ) new bottom floor apartment. Thank you so much guys.
