Stairhopper Movers

They started off okay. I had most of apartment packed except for kitchen. They just tossed things into trash bags. I had cleaners leaking all over. There was no rhyme or reason to their packing. They scratched the walls. I did pay for the extra insurance. When they started unpacking they just put things everywhere. They would not listen to me. There was some issues with the billing he stated my credit card would not go through but the money was there. I felt he was good all day but felt a little intimidated when he was getting ready to leave and wanted the money. He would not put the items in the rooms they belonged and I can not find several items. I was not satisfied with the service.

Everything was very smooth. No issues. Protected our belongings. We would use them again if we needed to.

It went OK. The charges were reasonable, but they could have done a better job of explaining them to me before I agreed to extras like having my couch wrapped.. The team was respectful and hard working. they got things done as fast as they could. They didnt break anything, but is a mysterious dent in the stair wall. I don't know if they did it or if it was the previous tenants. Thoroughly satisfactory, but they didn't wow me with service.

Mona was very helpful in providing us with a quote as well as answering our many questions in the days and weeks prior to our move. Her estimates on the size truck needed were spot-on, and we had a great crew loading and unloading the truck. We did all our own packing, and emptying dressers was required. Sebastian was the "crew leader" for our move and was a great guy to work with. The team (of 3 at pickup, 2 for drop off) meticulously wrapped our furniture and provided an inventory (number of boxes of different types, as well as a list of furniture pieces moved). They disassembled some large pieces, which they beautifully reassembled at drop off. Everything went smoothly, and the guys even offered to help us with re-arranging furniture as we set it up. The team worked quickly and efficiently, were all very professional and friendly, and generally a pleasure to work with.

Stairhopper Movers was referred to our family by my husband's coworker. I wasn't trilled about hiring movers because I am picky with who touches my things, and my kids things. But I read all the positive reviews and I said let's do it. Very happy & satisfied with Stairhopper's service! The movers were all professional from the beginning to end and even went beyond the call of duty by triple checking that nothing was left behind. These guys made it look too easy! I want also to mention the great customer service from thw office, who helped organize everything: helpful, understood my expectations, making sure they were met. Not looking forward to moving anytime soon, but if we do I will definitely choose Stairhoppers and would also refer them to anyone who's looking for movers in Boston. No regrets! Again thank you.

Stairhopper Movers helped me with a local in-Boston move and the service was OUTSTANDING! They called prior the arriving, were fine with an extra stop, real pros and great all around. Before I chose them I called several different places, and Stairhoppers was easiest to work with schedule wise and also offered a great price. The most stand out moment of the day - I had a huge dresser that I wanted upstairs. When we got it unloaded it really didn't look like it was going to make the it past a curve around the stairs. The guys maneuvered it and made it happen when I thought it would be impossible. Thanks again for the great service!

I wanted to use a local Boston mover for my interstate move into town from Vermont because I am skeptical about those big moving companies, better to have someone local and accountable. Stairhopper came recommended from a family friend and they immediately impressed: sensible estimate, asked a bunch of questions, informative, cute voice at the office. My experience with them was very professional and capable. A good, fair price for service that it seems to me is probably the best deal better then you can expect from others. They kept in touch daily to ensure I knew what was going on during the transport, even on a Sunday. They have earned my recommendation, and I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've done that.

They arrived earlier than planned (after they called to confirm we were ready) and wrapped all large furniture, starting on the 4th floor. They were careful with all our possessions and made a point to let us know of any damage prior to wrapping . Once we were in our new location they assisted in moving all pieces exactly where we needed them. All three employees were courteous and polite. I would definitely recommend Stairhopper's to anyone moving and should we ever need to move again I would call them first.

The movers arrived at my condo about 10 minutes before the time they promised. I gave them a tour of the layout and the boxes and furniture to be moved. They took it from there. The 3-man crew were very professional, polite, and strong. They were very careful when wrapping my furniture and glass shelves. I was there watching them wrap some of them, I kept thinking I couldn't be as careful if I were to do it myself. I was concerned whether the 24-ft truck can go through some of the tight (really tight) turns to get to my house. It wasn't a problem at all for the crew. Communicating with the company was also very pleasant. Mona was quick to respond to my questions and concerns, even during the weekends. I couldn't have imagined a better moving experience. I will not hesitate to recommend Stairhopper Movers to my friends and family.

I was shocked to learn that we had to pay from their facilities (in Charlestown) to our house (Ashland). I check ahead of time and they quoted a travel time of 45 minutes each way, regardless of traffic. They charged me for the real travel time instead of the predetermined travel time. This turned out to be 15 minutes longer than what I was expecting, but didn't have the energy or time to fight about it. Other than that, they were courteous, prompt, helpful, and careful with our items. Nothing was broken, scratched, or otherwise damaged in the move.

They showed up on time and moved quickly around Boston. They followed all my instructions and had plenty of materials to pack what was needed.

I've moved several times in the last few years and they have all been disasters. The movers were lazy, unfriendly, not strong enough to lift my furniture, and just plain awful. My experience with Stairhopper couldn't be more opposite. Sebastian and his team were incredible - they were like machines, I mean think world's strongest man competition happening right in my apt. They started their day at 4am in MA to get the truck and drive to NYC....carry all my stuff down 4 flights of stairs (including a very heavy sleeper sofa couch and a stairmaster, which were both really challenging to fit through the narrow doorway, forget about carrying them down stairs), made a quick stop to drop off a dresser to a friend, then drove to the Boston area and unloaded everything and finished by 11pm. It was a long exhausting day yet Sebastian and his team worked efficiently the entire time and had such a great attitude. Even though it was late, Sebastian continually offered that if I changed my mind on where a piece of furniture should go in the new apt, not to worry they'd move it for me again. Not a single item was broken or damaged and even though I was moving from a tiny NYC apartment, I had a ton of stuff so it was certainly a challenging move. I would definitely use them again, and already referred them to a friend who also used them. Request Sebastian!

There was a scheduling conflict and so I could not use the service. Communication was prompt.

They were unable to schedule the move during the date I required the service.

They were quick, efficient, careful, and extremely hard working. They wrapped furniture (like dining room table, dresser) for us carefully included in the price. They were a great value - price comparable to everyone else, and we just could not recommend them more highly. Also, Mona in the office really must keep the whole operation running smoothly; she was great in honoring a quote she had given us earlier (even though the price for the end of June had gone up) and in general is extremely flexible and organized.

They quoted $750 labor. This was lower than anyone else's quote. In the end, the bill came to $609.50 labor and $70 supplies (we opted for mattress bags). Total bill was $680.75 - less than the labor quote alone. They showed up 5 minutes early, and wrapped all furniture with blankets and tape, and seemed careful.

I signed up for Angie's List specifically to search out Movers and find a high quality mover at a good price. I purchased the $297 deal for 3 guys and a 24 foot truck for 3 hours. The deal clearly indicated that driving time came out of the 3 hours. Since they were coming from Charlestown to Beacon Hill, I thought it would be worth it. My low rating on price is based more on expectations than knowledge. We were comparing renting our own truck and asking friends and family to help vs. the movers. I thought that we would be done in about 4 hours, meaning an extra hour over the deal plus tip. Therefore, I thought the movers was a no brainer, but in the end the cost was significantly higher. I spoke with the main office before the move. They handled everything, including reserving the parking permit for the truck. The scheduled arrival time was between 2 and 4. At approximately 1:45 I received a call from the driver letting me know that they would be there at approximately 2:30. At 2:30 I got a call that they were on there way and they arrived at 3PM. There is quite a bit of paperwork, more than I expected. There is a basic insurance included with the move, or you can purchase upgraded insurance for $75 for $5000. I opted for the basic. I also opted for using their furniture pads. Finally, I opted for one mattress cover, $10, for the nicest mattress. I was asked to sign an additional waiver of understanding regarding the other mattresses. The three guys were very professional, strong, hard working, and meticulous about the wrapping of the furniture. They also provided a few additional boxes (at a charge). We have a lot of furniture for a two bedroom, but it did take a while. It was 3 hours on the loading end of the move, and they were not waiting on us to pack. We picked up pizzas and the guys were thankful and ate quickly, possibly knowing that all time is charged, but I appreciated the efforts. On the unloading end, it was very lengthy. It took approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes to unload. The problem, primarily, was that the building elevator was on the opposite side of the building, and it wasn't dedicated to our move. I estimate that we paid for an additional hour due to the wait time on the elevator. Toward the end the new apartment was getting full and the guys were tired and abotu 20% of the boxes ended up in the wrong places. Otherwise, they did a very good job. At the end, they presented a bill that outlined the time, the tape, the boxes, the pads, the mattress cover, plus what they estimated to be 30 minutes of driving on each end... They deducted the deal and I was left with a whopping $725 bill (Remember, I already paid $300 for the deal). I had initially taken out a few hundred in cash (there is a 5% cash discount) expectting it to be plenty. We ended up paying a portion in cash (all we had on hand), which was applied a discount, and the remaining portion in credit, which was not discounted. It was all quite clinical. I tipped 5% of the total bill, based upon things I read online about tipping movers. All in all, a good, but expensive job.

The price stood out. The job went very well.

The order went smoothly. However, they don't provide service for weekends...

Our family of four had a very full two-bedroom condo. Some moving companies wanted to break the job up over two days, packing one day and moving the next, at (of course) substantial added cost. Stairhopper was willing and able to do the job in one day. A team of three young, professional guys showed up early (before 8am) and didn't stop working until after 7pm when the last box was unloaded at our new house. They packed neatly and extremely quickly, and really hustled moving everything: I didn't see them literally hop up any stairs, but they sure got up and down the lift gate of the truck very quickly. Yet absolutely nothing got broken during the move. Some other good points: they had no problem using the boxes I had purchased separately. They did not overestimate the return travel time like some moving companies around Boston habitally do. Best of all, the movers were pleasant, friendly guys-- that made the day less stressful than it could have been. I am hoping not to have to move again for a long time-- but if I need to, I will certainly use Stairhopper again.

Stairhoppers did a fantastic job and we were very, very pleased with the results of our move! Mona was great in staying in touch with us to get things set up...the process was very easy. The team who did our move, led by Johnny, absolutely exceeded our expectations. We were really impressed with the way they worked as at team and showed respect for each other and for our things. I highly recommend Stairhoppers...they are an extremely professional organization!

Showed up early, started packing, wrapping and loading the truck right away. I didn't see these guys taking a break, non stop working till the furniture was arranged in the new house. Amazing movers!
