asked me for cash (i paid him as he went thousands of dollars) then he claimed i never paid him anything!!!!!! he did not want checks, just cash, now we know why! put the wrong wood down on the floor and when asked to remove the defective boards he refused, started screaming, yelling, posting slanderous information on facebook. called the police....he is unstable and i am afraid of him. he has damaged my reputation and stolen money from me. he wanted me to prepay him to fix the errors and i told him he would be paid in full when he fixed it and finished it. left massive putty globs you can see through the finish, huge knots, on the antique floor missing huge boards, paint sealed in by polyurethane etc.... instead of fixing it he went down to court immediately and tried to put a lien on my house. totally unethical. found others he has done similar things to. has an awful temper and continued to harass me all day leaving me screaming and yelling message because i was at mass general hospital in the mri machine for cancer diagnosis and did not pick up the phone. jim was coming out to repair a section of flooring laid incorrectly. he never ripped the floor up he left it to my fiance and his friend although he charged me for it. he put down new flooring filled with knots and defects although he was told specifically 5 times not to use that, to use the clear wood. he asked for cash to hide the transaction from his ex wife and then told me he would give me a receipt later. we paid him over $5600 in cash as requested. now he is saying we only gave him $500. completely untrue. he also never correctly sanded or finished laying wood on the second floor and did not finish with the poly coats. we had that evaluated by 2 flooring experts who said the job needed to be redone. the downstairs he had putty all over the place, knots in so many boards, incorrectly cut pieces, $135 a gallon poly he left open (about 6 containers), one leaked all over the floor and there is a huge dried puddle with cardboard polyurethaned to the floor. he left a hazard zone where someone could get injured, he never glued down the herringbone floor, just nailed it. he did an awful job the entire first floor that he supposedly repaired needs to be removed, new wood and supplies purchased and laid and finished again. i told him if he fixed it he would receive the small amount still owed he left the job and refused to fix it unless i paid him the rest upfront. after paying him all this money and having to pay to redo everything he is now slandering me on fb saying he was never paid and he did an amazing job. he is threatening me and supposedly setting up a group to picket at grocery stores, the post office and my home. think about this....paid almost entirely, did an awful job that has to be redone and now is threatening and slandering me....what a horrible, evil man.

Jim Firlotte was menacing, arguing with the contractor I had at the house at the same time. He had a worker who was a roofer helping him, according to my contractor, who had never done floor refinishing. He left gaps near the radiators, near the walls and a large gap without any flooring under my stove. He left a large piece of equipment in a small bathroom that broke a few pieces of the tile and the toilet. He denied it, though he was the only one there at the time and we were not yet moved into the house. His voice mails, which I kept, were offensive, with name-calling, and frightening to me. I would recommend that people run, not walk, away from this company/man.

Do not hire this company

They used dustless sanding equipment. Which was fantastic! They did a great job of covering our cabinets and furniture with sheets of plastic in a very meticulous way. The job was done very well by the owner and a helper. We scheduled the job a month out and he came out exactly on that day without me having to call him. He was the only one who was willing to come out and look at the job for the estimate.
