Description of Work: I recently hired Sniff K9 to heat-treat the first floor of my apartment building for bedbugs. I paid this company $2900 up front for this treatment. Because they use propane as the heat source, rather than electric heat as other companies do, there is an extra $500 charge for a fireman who has to be present throughout. I was told there was a 90 day warranty for the treatment. After three arbitrary changes of schedule, the technician finally showed up. He told me he had flown in from California the night before to do it. The job was done very sloppily and the contents of the apartments he treated were strewn about in a careless and unprofessional manner. The heat treatment was half as long as had been stipulated and the "technician" left a number of belongings behind him in the apartment--a large quilted throw rug, scissors, and sheafs of paper records. Bugs appeared in the infected unit immediately--and as late as a week after the treatment. The company agent I spoke with, tried to tell me that it did not matter, that the bugs were disposed of, but my tenant was unable to sleep there because he was still being bitten. I told the company manager that I was going to call in another pest control firm to discover if my finding living bugs was as irrelevant as Sniff K9 claimed. I contacted Yankee Pest Control who said that if there were still bugs that long after the treatment--it was almost a week by this time--that the treatment had not worked. So I arranged with Yankee Pest to come and spray. Sniff K9 subsequently told me that since I was under warranty to them, Sniff would pay for the additional treatment I had incurred. But although the other company sent Sniff K9 my invoice, and I e-mailed several times to tell them how much they owed me, Sniff K9 never did reimburse me until I reported them to the Better Business Bureau. They then issued a check to reimburse my bill from Yankee Pest Control. |Yankee Pest Control were courteous, efficient, and their treatment was effective. They charged me $600 as opposed to $2900. I am aware that I should not have accepted the initial high quote from Sniff K9 but I was desperate to have the work done quickly, and went with the first company that returned my call. The agent at Sniff K 9 was hectoring and rude, and I felt took advantage of my vulnerability. |

Description of Work: A handler arrived with a dog, who sniffed for bedbugs and (thankfully) didn't find any. There have been no more reports from tenants of suspected bed-bugs, so I guess they were accurate.

Description of Work: Dog came in and scrambled around on the hardwood floors, scratching them up. He lifted his leg on my sofa and marked it with urine. I provided them with a live bug that appeared after having the heat treatment. They never got back to me because it was a bat bug, not a bed bug and didn't require any action after all.

Description of Work: We had them out to inspect our whole home for bed bugs. This was a prevention inspection. We did like the service we got from them. We found the inspectors very thorough and nice to work with. We called them several times after the initial inspection with no response from them. If we need this service again, we probably won’t call.

Description of Work: Several weeks ago my partner had quite an itchy bite on his leg and I had just discovered a strange insect the night before while cleaning the entry into our condo. Hoping it wasn't bedbugs and wanting to confirm that there weren't any for our peace of mind, I found Sniffk9's Seattle on Google. Called 1st thing the next morning, made an appointment, and Susan arrived with her wonderfully trained dog, Magic, just hours later to do a search. Magic did the rounds of the condo, didn't find anything until the bedroom where she signalled by the mattress that indeed there was scent of the nasty critters. I had saved the insect from the night before in a ziplock bag and Susan confirmed that the bug was one of the juvenile stages of the bedbug cycle. Susan is very professional and personable, with a great sense of humor. She was extremely patient with my MANY, MANY questions and thoroughly explained the treatment options available to take care of the problem. Susan helped make a VERY stressful situation easier to deal with. She also coordinated with the other condo owners, the property management company and arranged to have the heat treatment done appropriately - and quickly!! The heat treatment kills all stages of the bugs from eggs to adults and is pesicide free. Once your place cools off you are back to living life normally in your home. Susan also went the extra mile helping the condo owners in making sure all was ready for the heat treatment. She even helped me with the mattress/boxspring encasement and getting the light sockets off in readiness for the treatment. I can't say enough good things about Susan and her dog, Magic.
