I received product quickly. Instructions were easy to understand and customer service was very helpful with questions. Months later there was a problem with my unit being connected to dispatch center. Notified company and they explained changes with T-Mobile connectivity and sent module to switch for Verizon connection quickly. Again instructions were easy to follow. Received emails when unit was not connected to dispatch due to Simplisafe performing "testing" routinely and saw my unit was not connected. Nice to know they test units to detect any problems.

The security system came as advertised. Initially there was no need to contact them, as it was all self-installed and I had no issues with installation or getting it to work. Signing up for the monitoring service was also done online. Recently there was an issue with our base unit communicating with the monitoring center. The base unit came with Tmobile chip and apparently there was a signal coverage issue (even though our cell phone service is though TMobile and we've had no issues). SimpliSafe customer service was very responsive and sent me a replacement module with a Verizon connection. I had to uninstall the Tmobile module , install the Verizon module, and return the Tmobile module in the prepaid envelope that they provided. I had no trouble with the exchange, but this might have been a problem for someone not comfortable with opening up the base station, and changing electronic components. As long as you are aware that there is a DIY element to using SimpliSafe, I would highly recommend it.

I was really psyched to get this system and install. First thing I noticed, very chincy components. However, very easy to install and setup. clever system. My problems were that different components failed. 2 base stations, fire alarm, 2 motion detectors, all had issues. when you have component failure on an alarm system, it's bad. Because component will fail, alarm goes off, Simplisafe calls and/or Police/Fire department sent. The worst experience was a bad fire alarm sensor. it went off, i told them NOT to send the fire department. They ignored and sent anyway. THe Fire Department broke into my house, and charged me for a false alarm. When i've asked simplisafe to help me, they say we understand....we're sorry...what can we do. And then they do nothing. Shameful.

SimpliSafe had a good price. My only complaint with it is that I bought a package through Angie’s List and they had specific items that you had to buy and in some cases, it is very east coast like freeze guard and all sort of stuff that we do not necessarily need in this area, but it was a good overall price. I was a little unhappy about that because there were several items that I did not need that I bought so I would not have to drive the price way up through a custom set. So, I went with that and then, added the features that I needed. Afterwards, you do a self-check after the system turned on. That is just about it. You just do about everything online. I would tell a friend that it is easy to install. It is great that there is no contract on it. It has very low monthly monitoring. The price is very low. It is very easy to use and understand. They are not easy to reach all the time. Their work hours are just Mondays through Fridays so it would be nice to get somebody on the weekend if you are doing an installation. The people were very good.
Description of Work: What I would like to recommend is SimpliSafe for alarms. It is self-install. I called them after I talked to the folks at Angie’s List and they got everything set-up and helped me order the things that I needed to have ordered.

First off none of the equipment is reliable. Door sensors are affected by cold and will quit working. Motion sensors will be tripped by pets despite what SimpliSafe says. They flat out lie that pets under 50 lbs will not trigger the alarm. This is patently false, do not believe them. They even admitted to me on the phone that changes in light and heat can affect them! Also, the glass break sensors can be triggered by other loud noises such as something hitting the house (like a tree branch). I tried everything they told me. Re-positioning sensors, changing sensitivity settings, turning sensors upside down, replacing equipment, everything. The helpdesk is nearly useless and also unprofessional. Multiple times they would fail to return my calls or leave emails with questions unanswered and hanging. What is worse the help desk is only staffed until 6 Eastern, M-F. I often work until 6, so if I needed support I needed to wait until the weekend if I wanted to talk to someone. Their product is worthless, their service is a joke. If you are a SimpliSafe customer then I feel sorry for you because you are simply not safe with their faulty equipment. Stay away.
Description of Work: Equipment is flaky, faulty and unreliable. Helpdesk is anything but helpful and is not available at useful hours. SimpliSafe was unable to get the equipment working properly and would not refund my equipment as it was passed the 60 day warranty. Now I am stuck with faulty equipment.

Our customer service office is open seven days a week, so even if you need help on the weekends, we're here for you! Our motion sensors are infrared sensors (a common type of motion sensor!). This means that they are sensitive to a change in heat. Typically small pets will not trigger alarms, but if they are able to get very close to the alarm, or are letting off a lot energy causing more heat, it's possible they be picked up by the motions sensor. We'd be happy to help you find a new location for your sensors with your pets in mind. This way your home will still be protected, and you don't have to worry about our pets. I ordered my first system directly from Simplisafe. I found this systems to have many glitches. The company was friendly and they would go out of their way to help for the first 30 days. I received false alarms on door sensors, the phone app worked for about a week (I paid extra for that service thru monitoring), I called and they told me they would credit my a account one month for the inconvenience and to uninstall/reinstall the app. I thought they really stand behind their product. So I ordered a system thru Angie's list and parts from them directly to complete the system for a friend. While that system was in transit, my system panel stopped responding to the brain, again I called and (my 30 day trial just expired) the customer service rep acted like I was wasting her time for something really stupid. She told me to pull the batteries out of the panel and reset it, I did and it worked for another few days. My friend got his system. We were going to put it in that weekend. My panel went out again but I couldn't call, it was evening and their office was closed. I called the monitoring dept. to see if there was an after hours number, they told me "No". My friend watched me work on this fail able home security system over the past few weeks. The app not working still, the panel going out three times, the sensors saying a door was open when it wasn't, and so on. He didn't want this in his house. I informed Angie's List. They noted the account for the part I bought thru them. I contacted Simplisafe and they allowed me to return his system because it was within the 30 days. I asked them if I could return mine for a partial refund and customer service told me, "No, but I could try to sell it on Craigslist." - I'm not going to sell a faulty system to someone trying to secure their home. BTW, I didn't get the credit for the monitoring I stated above, they charged me. I guess you are supposed to keep calling during their business hours, wait on hold for half an hour and then tell them you got charged. Then they apologize and tell you they will give you two months free monitoring. Then they charge you and you get to play the game over again. Now I have their system in a bag sitting in a closet. These guys are a true waste of time, energy and money. There is nothing simple, safe or reliable able them, except their 30 day return policy. I still haven't seen the refund for my friends system but maybe it will be on my next statement.
Description of Work: Sold me a faulty home security system, lied over and over, charged me when they said I would get a free month of monitoring, baited me along, etc. I really would NOT trust this company or their equipment to keep my dog's house safe.

So far so good with two exceptions, which were remedied by the company quickly and professionally at no additional cost. (1) double-sided tape failed to one of the entry sensors, causing the alarm to go off while we were away and for police to be called to house - sent new tape at no additional cost and received quickly; (2) smoke alarm battery died within a week of installing - sent a new battery at no additional cost and received quickly.

It went OK. The system came with a keypad, a base station and sensors. Installation was pretty simple.

It came quick, had great instructions and was super easy to install. I contacted them about a problem with one door where the sensor wouldn't fit. They asked me to send pictures and then sent me a differs sensor that fit along with a self addresses post page envelope to return the old one. Very satisfied with their service.

It comes in as a homeowner's install. It comes in as a kit and it's wireless. They sent in the package and it was fairly reasonably priced and it doesn't hook up to the phone system or the network. It's using it's own self-service which is tamper-proof. There's a recurring which is about $20 for the service. It's great. Whenever you have an issue with one of the sensors not working or what not, they give us a call and let us know. It's simple to install, simple to support and they're very proactive in reaching out to us. I will absolutely use them again.

I have delayed writing a review for more than a year so I could provide an accurate picture of the equipment and services provided by SimpliSafe Home Security. In short, the equipment, service, and support have been nothing short of outstanding. From the initial arrival of the alarm equipment and sensors, the installation was simple and intuitive. Customizing your equipment needs is very easy and the sensors are pretty portable (unless they are permanently mounted with screws) so you can move them as needed or if you make a mistake. Once the equipment is set up, getting the sensors to 'talk' to the base station and keypads was easy. Select a monitoring package, place the base station in test mode, and before you know it your alarm is up and running, monitored continuously. SimpliSafe even gives you a 3 day trial or test period so you can familiarize yourself with the operations and limitations of the alarm system. Any needed support provided by SimpliSafe and the monitoring company has been professional, prompt, and customer focused. Ordering additional sensors or supplies takes only a day or two to be delivered and is just as easy to add into an existing system. The savings over a traditional wired system is enormous and, best of all, there are no contracts. You can change monitoring levels (or select none at all) whenever you desire. There is always some bad with all the good: 1) Our T-Mobile/Verizon cell coverage is not particularly good. It took a considerable amount of time and effort to find the 'sweet spot' in the house where the base station would not lose contact with the monitoring company. Even in that spot, and not moved in more than a year, it still loses signal from time to time. This requires removing the power and batteries from the base station in order to perform a 'hard reset' and get it talking to the alarm monitoring company once again. We have done this maybe 4 times in the last year. The issue isn't so much having to do a reset, but that it's an easy message to miss on your keypad when arming the alarm that although the alarm is ON, it is not currently being monitored. The siren will still sound if someone trips a sensor, however the police will not be notified. 2) Occasionally the keypads 'lock up' and don't seem to send a signal to the base station for disarming the alarm. On a few occasions we have disarmed the alarm (or thought we did) only to hear the keypad on the opposite side of the house beeping, like the base station didn't get the signal. This isn't a big deal as long as you are careful and make certain that your alarm is actually disarmed. We verify this using the text message option for any change in alarm status. Normally a few seconds after the alarm is armed or disarmed we will receive a text message from SimpliSafe about the change in status. 3) The batteries do not last as long as advertised. One entry sensor, the base station's rechargeable batteries, and both keypads have required batteries in the last year; well ahead of when I expected to replace them. It's a small expense and inconvenience, but it's definitely worth mentioning. Overall, an outstanding experience at a great price through Angie's List. Highly recommend. Have had family members purchase and install the alarm with similar results.

It has been excellent. For the monthly service we are paying $24.99. The other thing is whenever the system has a problem, like if for some reason the system loses its connection to a dispatcher, it will tell you. The great thing is, you know that the system is not able to connect with the dispatcher right now for some reason and there is some pretty easy trouble shooting to correct that. So I like that because the last thing you want to do is have a problem and not know about it. It is a good system overall. It is a well functioning system. In fact, I recommended them to my parents, who use them now too.
Description of Work: We bought the Simply Safe alarm system from an Angie's List Deal. We've only had to use them once. It was by accident. We accidentally set off our alarm. They called promptly and we could hear the police siren coming towards the house. We told them it was an accidentally, we accidentally set off the alarm, everything is okay, we gave them the password. They said, we'll call it off and within a minute or two, the siren stopped. The police were immediately notified that it was a false alarm. So in that sense it works well.

It's a fairly good system. It's affordable, easy to use, easy to set-up. There's no contracts required. Only if we do then their contract is very inexpensive. I set it up after I bought it. They didn't provide instructions but it's really simple that instructions were not required. The sensors are really sensitive. If I have a motion sensor on, if I walk maybe 40 feet away, it will stop beeping. I feel pretty safe.
Description of Work: The $199 was the package deal then I ordered some other stuff through them. I think I ordered a few more window sensors.

Very responsive to notifying us when the alarm has gone off. Mostly it is our dogs that set it off, the motion detector. Whenever we have had a question, we call the number and they have walked us through the process. they have also replaced a faub at no charge when it didn;t hold up. The key chain part of the faub is a little less durable than it should be, however, we are happy with the overall service and the customer support. The cost to purchase the equipment was less than what we would have to pay other company to install and set up. This system is overall about the same, installation is a breeze and the monthly rate is far less.
Description of Work: Provided the equipment for monitoring, that I now own and simple to install. We have used this service for over a year. We used to have ADT and have found this to be just as good a service for A LOT LESS.

Self-installation instructions were easy to follow. All components work as advertised. I opted for the slightly more expensive monitoring plan, which allows me to monitor the system via my smartphone. This is a very useful feature when out of town and others are accessing the house to perform tasks while we are away.

The instruction book is easy to follow. They also have a video showing the installation online. I had no problems and the system was installed and operational within one hour. If someone as tech challenged as I am can do this, anyone can! SimpiSafe provides easy, reasonably priced monitoring for your home.
