Description of Work: I wanted a simple to use entry alarm system for my daughter's apartment. SimpliSafe provided a complete turnkey self-install system that met our needs. The system arrived pre-set-up out of the box, and was on-line and running within a half-hour. All sensors and kepad controls were wireless, and any required batteries were included. System monitoring by their call center was a wired plus wireless system that was inexpensive at $14.99 per month. Because they called the local police department, we did need to register the system with the appropriate agency, which was also painless. During the couple of years we used this system we had no problems with false alarms, and the batteries did not require replecement. The system un-install was also simple, and it is in a box awaiting reactivation should I ever need it again. Overall I can highly recommend this system and company, they provide a very easy to use product and service. Configuration of new sensors or options does require a (not provided) computer with a USB port, but the configuration is also very easy.

Description of Work: I went with simplisafe to provide monitored security for my home. We live out in the country and several breakins had been reported in the local paper. They responded well my equipment arrive quickly and I installed it. Then I found out that there was very poor receiption where I lived and they could not monitor my equipment unless I, hooked it to a telephone line, or purchased more equipment like another (more exspensive) router. I donot have a phone line and I refused to purchase the router. So all I have is the equipment which works well. But is not monitoried.

Description of Work: I purchased my complete home security from SimpliSafe and did the installation myself. The installation was a breeze and no surprises at all. Components are installed and working as promised. The feature that I really like is the ability to monitor with cellular service instead of relying on a land line. This is standard with the system and from my investigation prior to buying the Simplisafe system is a bit more complicated and much more expensive from other companies. The cellular has worked flawlessly. We have had a few false alarms due to our tripping the sensors and we were contacted very quickly. I also like the fact that I can make changes to the system on line password protection. Simplisafe was easy to talk to in the early stages of getting our system designed and no long waits to talk to someone on the phone.

Description of Work: I had heard several big names in conservative talk radio talking about having Simplisafe in their homes. I figured that those people could afford the best, so I checked out the Simplisafe website. Their system is much better than those of the other big name home security companies. It is completely wireless. No drilling in your walls or floors. One common shortfall of the other companies' systems, is that a crook can disable the system from the outside by cutting your telephone wires. Not so with Simplisafe. Their transmitter is completely wireless, and uses a special cell line. It does not connect to your existing home telephone wiring. There are multiple price ranges to choose from, depending on how many sensors you need. I opted for a medium priced system but I had to order a few additional window sensors, and I also wanted a smoke alarm and a basement flooding water sensor. Home temperature, carbon monoxide, glass-breakage, and freezer sensors are also available. Considering that there are no messy workmen coming into your house (it is all easily self-installed in 30 minutes), I felt that the one-time $400 dollars spent for the system was very reasonable. Plus, other companies lock you into a 3-year monitoring contract at $36 per month. With Simplisafe, you are able to sign-up for a no-contract monitoring fee of only $14.99 per month. You are free to keep it for as long as you want, or you can choose to discontinue the monitoring. I set off the smoke alarm by accident twice since we had the system, and the monitoring company called me both times within 30 seconds. I apologized for setting off the alarms, but they reassured me that they were just doing their jobs and were making sure that my family was alright. The monitoring personnel are professional and courteous. I would recommend to other Angie's List subscribers to definitely check out Simplisafe before getting tangled up with any other big name home security companies. You'll be glad you did.
