Alarm was shipped in a very reasonable amount of time. The package arrived by UPS as promised. All of the components that were listed were in the box. The install was very easy and all of the sensors that were ordered where already configured with the system when it arrived, so that was very nice. Installation was very easy and the online activation was fine. I did have to call the customer support once during the activation process to get them to start the SIM card in the base station, so it would connect to the Alarm Monitoring service, but Simplisafe did that quickly and I was not on hold longer than about 30 seconds to talk to someone. Less than 5 minutes and was all taken care of.
Description of Work: Shipped the contents of the alram system as stated. The system arrived at the promised time.

I had ordered it thru Angie's list which appeared ok, but to expedite the shipping I had to call and pay SimpliSafe direct. Some things I found out is if you order thru Angie's list you have 30 day money back guarantee, but if you go thru SimpliSafe direct it is 60 days. One big mistake is they have a Verizon and T-Mobile version of the base stations. They really should ask what reception you get in your area as they sent a T-Mobile station. I left town for almost a month and my base station was never able to reach the center so anything that happened would have just triggered the audible alarm. They sent me a Verizon chip which had good reception and they seemed to know that by looking it up. I was refunded 1 month's worth of service for this, but it was a pain. In the future I would purchase directly thru SimpliSafe.
Description of Work: I ordered a SimpliSafe home alarm system in the mail and set it up myself. It was 2 keypads, 1 keychain, 1 motion sensor and 4 entry sensors.

The system was very easy to install, and works great so far. I was unable to access all of the features from the web after completing the install. I called SimpliSafe, and spoke with customer support after about 3 minutes on hold. They were very helpful, and ran a diagnostic test on the system. I was then determined that I needed to wait a day for complete online access. The next day I was able to access all of the online features. I now receive a text message every time the alarm is activated or deactivated. One thg
Description of Work: I purchased the alarm from Amazon as I wanted the free 1 day delivery. The purchase price was $259 for the starter kit which included the base unit, 4 entry sensors, a motion detector and a key fob. I purchased 5 extra entry sensors, a motion detector, 3 smoke detectors and a key fob directly from Simpli Safe. I choose the 24.95 activation which includes monitoring remotely over the internet and with my iPhone.

Excellent system so far ! We chose the 24.99 a month plan and get alerts whenever the door is opened or closed. The same would apply if any sensors would be detected while we are "away" . This system has provisions for everything ! Couldn't be happier !

I recommend the upgrade to the $24.99 monthly plan that allows control with your smart phone, makes system even more user friendly. But basic $14.99/month plan works perfectly just like an old style alarm system. Would appreciate even further home automation integration or FTTT Bridge as well as sensors that look more professional or can be hidden better.
Description of Work: While this is a system you install yourself, all customer service needs I have had have been promptly and efficiently handled. It was very easy to install. And has functioned perfectly worked when needed!!

The system came quickly, was easy to install and it works well. Its very good value. You can choose to pay a low fee to link to dispatch or not. If you don't you will have to put up with the light on the base unit flashing. Its not a problem to me but it will depend on where you it. You need a permit here from the police if you do want to link to dispatch - not sure about other states.

After receiving the product in the mail I read through the installation paperwork and went step by step to install the system. Unfortunately I was unable to get passed step #1 (syncing keypads to base station) because the keypads would not sync. I called the phone number and got a customer service rep on the phone to help out but the keypads still would not sync. During the phone conversation the tech gave me the following excuses: 1. Since you ordered from Angie's List the product could have sat around for a while or have been damaged. 2. The product could have been sitting so long the batteries died. 3. Since you ordered from Angie's List and not the company website the key pads were probably never synced. After hearing the above excuses I started to get irritated. Then the representative told me that in order to fix the problem he had to activate the base station remotely and the only way he could do that is for me to subscribe to the monthly monitoring service. I told him that I was not interested in giving him my credit card number and subscribing to a service for a system that did not work. I also asked why he wanted me to subscribe to monitoring for a system that is advertised as either being monitored or not monitored? I told him to stop trying to get me to subscribe to the service and fix my system. He then proceeded to take down some serial numbers and told me he could overnight two new keypads and that would fix the problem. Two days passed and I had not received the keypads so I called Simplisafe to ask what shipping method was used to send out the keypads. I was told that they don't overnight products and the new keypads would be at my house on Tuesday (that would be 7 days of waiting). I informed the representative that I wanted to return the product and without any attempts to retain me as a customer I received a return shipping label in my email. The funny part is the return shipping label is for two day service, I guess they want their stuff back faster than they want to get me functional merchandise. Your mileage may vary. You may get a working system or maybe not. I was hoping this would work for me because I am in the military and gone frequently and this system could be taken with me when I move. However, I could not rationalize trusting a company with securing my home when they cannot even provide me with a working product or replace defective products when they say the will.

LOVE the alarm system. Easy install, no trouble at all! Instructions we easy to understand. The team there is so quick, if I have a question, I just email and they get right back to me. They also check in via email to make sure that everything is fine with the system. I love it so much I'm going to purchase additional items like a fire/carbon monoxide alarm and a couple more entry sensors and maybe even the glass break sensor.

Over two years ago and after much research, we purchased a home security system from Simplisafe. We are EXTREMELY HAPPY with this company and with the quality of our system. Our home is monitored for break-ins, fire, gas leaks and even water!! About a month ago, during an extremely rainy two-weeks, Simplisafe notified us that water was entering our basement. Thankfully, we were able to get home in time to prevent a small disaster from turning into a major one. When an alarm or sensor is triggered, two extremely loud alarms blare, our Smartphones alert us and we are called IMMEDIATELY by Simplisafe's very friendly and professional monitoring company. The person who calls always verifies our identity and stays on the phone with us until they are absolutely certain that we are safe. So I purchased my SimpliSafe security system on 9/28 and it is now 10/23 and my system is still not fully operational. The install itself was pretty simple, except for one area which I?ll discuss more in a moment. Along with my security system, I also received paperwork from SimpliSafe that indicated I am required to register my alarm system with my county prior to use. On one sheet the paperwork indicated I needed to contact my county to register, and then on another sheet I was told to contact SimpliSafe to get the paperwork to register. So I decided to call SimpliSafe to get clarification. The representative told me that I needed to contact my county and get the paperwork from them. But when I contacted my county (FARS), they said that I needed to get the registration paperwork from SimpliSafe. So, I called SimpliSafe back, told them about what both the previous representative and my county had informed me of. It turned out that SimpliSafe did need to send me the registration paperwork, which I received several days later. I?m not quite sure why I got the runaround the first time I called, or why, if SimpliSafe has to provide the registration paperwork for my county, they didn?t just include that in the package with my security system. Instead, use of my system was delayed for several weeks. Also, SimpliSafe failed to inform me that I could still use my system while waiting for the registration to be finalized because counties normally offer a grace period. So I continued to pay for monitoring, even though my system wasn?t active. As for the install, unfortunately 2 of my 4 entries are recessed more than 2 ½ inches, and so the sensors do not work. And since the SimpliSafe representative could not offer any alternate mounting solutions for recessed doors, I am probably going to return my entire system. I know I am not the only homeowner with recessed doors, so it would have been helpful if SimpliSafe clearly advertised or provided material indicating their entry sensors would not work on these doors. It would have saved me the weeks of hassle discussed previously and money as well. Overall, I am not pleased with this experience and wouldn?t recommend to others. Update 11/2: Soon after posting this review, a customer service representative contacted me about my experience. He assured me that my situation was handled improperly and insisted that the response I received did not meet the company standards. He informed me that, contrary to what a previous customer rep had told me, SimpliSafe did have alternate options for recessed doors. These included very small magnets that would fit most recessed doors. Within days I received the magnets, and to my delight they worked perfectly! In addition to getting the magnets for free and because I had been paying for monitoring for a system which hadn't been fully functioning yet, they offered to cover two months of my monitoring costs. I appreciate SimpliSafe's efforts to rectify this situation and plan to keep my equipment and service.

Went extremely well. The initial cost was $259 but, I did add extra sensors and smoke alarms - still a great deal. Customer service is professional, polite and very helpful. So glad Angie's had the deal.

It all went extremely well. The kit arrived on time. It was easy to install (after viewing the YouTube-like movie tutorials.) It works great. We are so pleased. We are extremely pleased with the fact that we purchased the package, through Angie's List, for a price that was lower than that of Simplisafe's offer. Plus, an extra door sensor was thrown in on the deal making it even greater a deal all in all.

A little time-consuming but it went well. Allow at least an or hour or more for installation of all sensors and test activation of the system. I would suggest installing during business hours or daytime on the weekend. The cap came off my remote which also serves as a flash drive for system activation and updates. Also, the remote could be a smaller footprint, but very pleased overall. My old company (Monitronics) is trying to woo me back with a $35 per month monitoring fee which is $15 less than before and $10 more than SimpliSafe. Glad I made the switch.

While the telephone communication was well. To install the alarm system needed a lot of computer work so you needed to be good with a computer and it's a self instillation which wasn't really explained. The alarm sound when you open the door is very low and you have to hook up the system back to the computer to adjust anything on it.

They first shipped the Security System to the wrong address so I had to drive 11 hours to pick it up. When I got the unit, it was a T-Mobile security unit and I needed a Verizon unit. I had to ship the system back to them and they shipped me the right unit, to the wrong address again, with the wrong SIM chip as well. This had been going on for weeks, they keep flooding my email wanting to know why the system isn?t set up but they know they sent me the wrong equipment. This has been very frustrating so I called them for a refund and they said they couldn?t refund my money and that I would have to call Angie?s List instead.

From start to finish system was installed on online in about an hour. It's a very simple system to install and almost everybody can use a 20 % discount on their homeowners. Also had a couple of questions I emailed to the help desk and both times had a return answer within 24 hrs, I would highly recommend this system even if you have never owned it's simple and easy to operate. If you have animals indoors as we have make sure you follow their recommendations.
