Old England Painting

The work was excellent and Old England Painting does a terrific job from start to finish. High quality work; friendly and courteous and thoughtful service; reasonable fees and consistently fine quality performance in every way. We have used them multiple time in the past and actually look forward to the next time around. We recommend them with the highest regard.

The work and suggestions for color, details all excellent . Paint lasted w/out peeling much longer than previous painters work.

Above and beyond is the best way to describe our experience. Words I would use to describe Gavin and his crew include professional, courteous, thorough and collaborative. Throughout the project Gavin kept us informed and made suggestions that were cost effective and really made a difference.

The work was excellent. The owner, Gavin, does everything he can to satisfy you. He and his crew of two men are focused on doing a good job and making you happy. They work in a professional and considerate manner and they took care of everything that needed to be done. They paid careful attention to details so that the job was done well and the result is beautiful. Gavin even washed the windows and the screens for me. He couldn't have been more kind and considerate and professional. They take pride in doing a good job for you.

They did an absolutely fantastic job. They re-glazed and washed all of our windows as a part of a deal. Our house is like a jewel now, it's the most beautiful house on the street! They cleaned up after themselves when they were finished each day. They asked good questions and made good suggestions. They got five job offers while they were doing our home because our neighbors could see what a great job they were doing! The work speaks for itself.

Gavin responded quickly to my phone call and came round to give us an estimate. The estimate was lower than another one we received, so we chose Olde England. We were very pleased with the results. The house looks great and Gavin made some suggestions to improve on the previous paint job. The crew was courteous and quiet. The worksite was cleaned up every day. It was easy to have them around. I would highly recommend them.

Note: This is the third time we've used this company. The last was in 2011 to paint the entire house, which ran a little over $12,000 for a 2-floor colonial. The time previous to that was in 2002, which is indicative of resistance to wear. This partial job, four years since the previous one, was necessitated by a recurrent problem with moisture that has gotten into one side of the house. Gavin Curd is a great person to work with. He is personable, professional, and doesn't try to up-sell. He took a look at the whole house, suggested that we only needed the one half done, and identified areas of rot where replacement was needed -- he subcontracted the carpentry work, which was high quality and very inexpensive. (Separate $220 charge.) The job was completed in 3 days (less than rough estimate). The crew arrived at 8 every morning and left about 4:30-5, kept the work area neat, cleaned up each afternoon leaving a few neatly organized piles of tools / materials / ladders. They removed and replaced the screens in the process of doing trim work. We would / will use the company again.

I emailed during our 6ft-of-snow winter to get a quote, and he came out while I was at work, did the quote and emailed me. Was totally happy to arrange dates by email / phone to come and paint as soon as the weather finally let up, and worked around my contractors. Came on the weekend to prep and cut in, then came to do the job and finished in one day. Touched up the next day and picked up equipment. I was really pleased with the service. The house had been airbrushed only 2 years prior and the front was showing through the white siding underneath. These guys did a one layer job, but it was obviously much thicker and more attention was paid to the details. When Jim saw there was rust staining on one area of trim, he offered to get a can and just touch up the areas that needed it on the 2nd story. Even went and adjusted the paint color after the initial mix was a hair too dark -- I like a perfectionist! No splatter on windows, no broken plantings (like the last guys!) Great job. Very pleased with his team's work. Everyone was very professional.

I think this was the best experience we?ve ever had with a contractor. From start to finish, Gavin Curd was a delight to work with. When he came to do our estimate, he carefully described each step of the painting process, provided suggestions about color, and left a list of references, all of whom gave him glowing reviews. When we agreed upon a date, he showed up at 7:30 AM on the appointed day and then spent the next two weeks fully devoted to our job. He and his two highly skilled crew members worked neatly, quietly and efficiently on scraping, priming and painting the exterior of our house, taking excellent care of our plantings and property, attending meticulously to every detail of the structure, and treating us with careful consideration -- including cleaning up at the end of each day. Early in the process, they painted samples of the colors we were considering for the body and trim so that we could see them at different times of day. When the first coat went on and we had misgivings about our choice, Gavin knew, based on his decades of experience, that it would work for us in the end. So he bent over backwards to show us how the color would look with the trim and foundation painting in place. He was absolutely correct ? our house looks spectacular now! What Gavin delivered constantly exceeded our expectations. When we saw that our garage color did not blend with the new house color, he added a coat on the garage for a very reasonable fee. He even helped us treat and paint a small portion of our bathroom ceiling, which had water damage from an ice dam. Throughout the project, it was obvious that he took pleasure in pleasing us and doing beautiful work. Overall, it was a great privilege to have him on site; he is a wonderful guy, an excellent communicator, and a top-notch craftsman. I couldn?t recommend him more highly.

We had major storm damage to the interior and exterior of our home, Winter 2015. We hired Olde New England (Gavin). The team did a meticulous job: major prepping, repairing of the walls and trim. The paint job is pristine and it really looks beautiful! Gavin is also great with color selection. A pleasure to work with: The team was prompt every morning, they treated my home with respect, and were very careful protecting my rugs and furnishings. The job site was left clean every night. Excellent communication, I was frequently updated as the job progressed.\ I highly recommend Olde New England. I will be having Olde New England paint my exterior.

Work was timely and complete. The repaired shingles and wood railings. They protected the surrounding bushes, air conditioning condensers, and fixtures. I will use them again.

Returned phone call quickly, asked the right questions. Unfortunately, he has only a couple of spots left for the rest of the year and is saving them for whole-house jobs - too busy to not do entire houses. Provided a referral to a former employee.

Gavin and his crew were a pleasure to work with. He took the time to answer probably 50 e-mails from me and another 10 texts before work started and during the job. Work done included: Sanding all exterior wood Priming entire home with oil primer Two coats of water based stain All trim & doors Remove, clean and replace storms The house turned out better than I expected. The team was friendly, clean and worked very hard. Gavin has a great eye for color and helped choose the trim and shutter color as well as providing numerous samples for the shingles. Would use again for sure.

I got them through Angie's List. They did a very good job. They were very clean and professional. They repaired what needed to be repaired. My wife was very pleased with them.

After walking around and looking at the house the representative from Old England told us that he would get back to us in a day or two with the estimate. We never heard from him again.

Gavin and the team were awesome to work with. The house looks amazing and Gavin was instrumental in picking the right colors for the house and the trim. We also had a handyman do a little touch up work and he was great as well. The deck staining is beautiful and through no fault of the team, it turned out there was a problem in how it dried (it rained fairly soon after the application). There were some water stains that didn't easily wash away. I called Gavin and they came out and re-applied the stain at no charge. You really can't ask for a better group to work with. I will be calling Olde England again when we work out a new color scheme for the interior of the house.

One of the best contractors, never mind painters, I've ever worked with. They started roughly when they said they would; they were on site every day from 730-530 and did a great job. Gavin kept us informed along the way about any changes he recommended and helped us make decisions. The crew kept the worksite clean and organized and were friendly and professional at all times. I would HIGHLY recommend this contractor.

Gavin and team did a great job on our house. They were responsive, punctual, and efficient, and the quality of the work was outstanding. The price was on the higher end of the estimates we received, but worth it for the job they did. I would definitely use them again.

Gavin and his team showed up daily on time (by 8am) and worked constantly through the day until about 5pm. The quality of work they did was great. Our house is from the 30s and it was in rough shape. Now it really looks new! They patched up areas that needed it and even noticed rotted wood that we were unaware of. We had those fixed the next day by someone he rec'd. They painted the exterior, trim, shutters, doors, wrought iron railing....you name it, they new how to do it! I highly rec'd Olde England Painting!

Excellent attention to detail, repair of wood, and proper caulking between shingles and windows. Great color sense and recommendations.

It went very well. There was some wood rot and carpentry work to be done to repair it; Gavin found a carpenter for me with whom he had worked previously. The team was professional and efficient. Gavin even suggested painting my foundation, which I hadn't even thought of doing. The color he proposed looks fabulous and blends in perfectly with the other paint colors and the foundation plants. He was also careful to paint the lower part of the downspouts to match the foundation color. Here and there, there might have been a slightly better job done on preparation before painting, perhaps a bit more sanding, and a few of my old storm windows are now hard to maneuver but overall I am very satisfied with the work. Gavin and his crew were a pleasure to deal with.

Gavin is great - he is friendly, responsive, hardworking and professional, He helped us choose the colors, was very good about scheduling and did a great job with the house.

The work went very well. They were prompt and came when they said they were coming. They anticipated the weather and managed the inside and outside painting without much loss of time. They were patient in experimenting with several colors until we found colors that we liked. Gavin was very good at suggesting colors and helping us decide how the house should be painted. The painting itself was done expertly. We are very pleased with the results and Gavin and his crew were very pleasant as well as competent. The whole project proceeded about as well as can be imagined. The house looks great.

Gavin started by coming out personally and doing an estimate. I really liked that he had a clear vision for what might look best for my house, as I wanted to change the entire color scheme. He took a lot of time walking me through each step of the process and all of my options for ways I could finish every last detail of the house. He was much more thorough, even in the estimate, than the other painters I met with. In terms of doing the work, Gavin and his crew were always punctual, worked hard, and did fantastic clean up at the end of each day. The job looks amazing, and all of my neighbors commented on it. Gavin was also quick and receptive to a few small things I noticed (an outlet cover that was missed, a section of gutter where a screw had been knocked loose) , and immediately took action to address them. I highly recommend him and would use his business again without hesitation.
