I hired Michael Noel and his team to paint my entire apartment in Boston. Old colors were extremely dark and difficult to mask. His team did most of the work and applied sometimes 4 and occasionally 5 coats of paint to mask the old dark colors! They were very flexible and worked around my schedule. I also found Michael's color consultation valuable. He listened to our ideas and helped us pick colors. Michael has a great sense of humor and is very entertaining!!
Description of Work: Painted all walls, ceiling, trims with new bright colors. Helped with color selection.

Michael met with us at our apartment so he could see our furniture, our "style", and get to know us. He was very personable and professional. We looked at the paint color cards and picked out what colors that we thought might work in the space. He gave us great advice and we listened to him. The end result was amazing. We would not have changed one thing!
Description of Work: Gave us excellent advice for paint colors for our large, contemporary loft. Painted the loft flawlessly.

Description of Work: Prepped and painted all rooms of the house. Consulted on colors, made recommendations. Removed wall-to-wall carpet to reveal hardwood floors. Michael and his team were immensely knowledgeable and professional. They communicated well, came promptly, cleaned up after themselves, accommodated our repeated changes of mind on color, and did an excellent job on the painting. The one complaint I have is that the paint on one of the bedroom walls did not hold up well, showing scratches and scraping off in just weeks after it was done. I've been too busy to follow up with him, but this was a surprise and a disappointment.

OK, I confess, I figured at least a FEW of Michael's reviews were probably from friends and relatives. Let me assure you, not true. I never met Michael before doing this project, and can, with great assurance, say his work is the best I've seen. Someone else reviewed him and said "anything Michael says he can do, you should let him do." My advice to you: hire him, and do what he tells you to. You will be amazed. Our story: I wanted a new kitchen (hated our 80's oak cabinets), but the cabinets still worked pretty well. We priced out everything -- replacing the cabinets entirely with cheaper lines from Home Depot, to refacing, to refinishing, to painting. In the end, our budget dictated the project. It's a galley kitchen, and there wasn't going to be much improvement in space utilization or layout with new construction. Refacing would have been nice, but it's surprisingly expensive, and our cabinet doors and hinges were already better quality than what they were selling. Besides, I was getting little buy-in from the hubby on the revamp, since the kitchen "worked just fine." Since the hideous oak just HAD to go (it hurt my eyes just to look at), we finally settled on painting the cabinets. While I've done a lot of painting, I wasn't going to take on cabinets - no way were they going to look good as a DIY project. So, I had to hire someone. I looked at some of the cabinet-painters in town, and general painters. Michael was one of the first to come by to take a look. First, he's quite a character (you'll get this when you meet him). Enthusiastic, engaged, interested, full of great ideas, listens well to what you want, and he has excellent taste. Second: Go ahead, let him talk you into something creative. I was going to paint the cabinets a nice neutral beige. They are now the most amazing deep plum, soothing, beautiful, and colorful all at the same time. He has a great eye for color and design. Third: If he says it needs to be done, it needs to be done. I was not going to re-do the backsplash ($600+ for wall tiles!?! On my budget?!) Great call - Michael put up beautiful slate tiles he cut himself, and it completely made the kitchen come together. Finally, the quality of work is excellent. We've had a lot of painting done in this house and previous ones, with contractors, painters, and we've done plenty ourselves. Michael and crew put that work to shame - he's a perfectionist, and the painting itself came out BEAUTIFUL, the next best thing to a factory-finish on the cabinets. Actually, it looks like I went and bought purple cabinets. Then there's the extras: needed a bench painted, done. Needed a new back on the kitchen island cabinets (a salvage from Craig's List), done. Needed to properly vent the fridge through surrounding cabinets, done. Needed to create a base for a couple of wall cabinets that I was using as a small counter under a window, done. Fix that crooked cabinet door? done. Replace all the hinges, put up new hardware, done. The very short list of things you should know: He's busy, so it took a few calls to get him started, but once he was nudged, he was on it. He was here, on appointed day and time, and his team is fast and efficient, and he saw the project through quickly. He also cleaned up every day, so our kitchen was rarely out of commission. Price: just a caveat: I did not price out the entire project with other providers, but his price on cabinets was comparable, and his work and advice was excellent. In the end, we spent more than originally planned (backsplash, repainted rest of kitchen). All of it was well-spent, none of it broke the bank, and I've got a kitchen that looks better that what I would have gotten from a kitchen showroom. We are looking for an estimate on another project, and depending on budget and estimate, we plan to hire Michael again. I will keep you posted on how project #2 goes!
Description of Work: Painted oak kitchen cabinets, tiled backsplash, trimmed and finished back of a kitchen island, painted kitchen, windows, and trim.

There were no services performed as I contacted Michael for some various handyman related tasks in my home, fixing holes in the wall and mounting selves, fixing molding around top and bottom of cupboards, replacing a soap dish in the main shower/bath. Michael visited my home several days after my initial inquiry and took the broken soap dish to ensure a proper replacement and then 6 months have passed with little to no communication and he still has not performed any work. I would NOT recommend him at all.

First time I talked with Michael about a clay plaster, and even though we decided to go with a conventional plaster, I was very impressed with him and wanted to work with him. When we got to the painting I called him again, and though he was a little more expensive than the other quote I got, I luckily decided to work with him. I had another "painter" painting a one bedroom unit before I met Michael, and sure he was cheaper. For the quality and service I got, Michael Noel was by far a better deal. He worked extremely well with all the mess around, and constrains due to other contractors. Not only he did not complain, he helped me to get the most from everyone who was there. Still he managed to deliver exactly what he promised. Though I expected him to do well he far exceeded my expectations. He is very neat, works VERY clean, and pays attention to any detail. Seems like he just doesn't know how to cut corners. Also very knowledgeable, helpful with design ideas, and works a lot with non-toxic paints (and plaster). I would highly recommend him to anyone for any painting job, backslash, or, frankly, anything he says he can do.

Michael and his team worked for three weeks painting a large part of the interior of our 1930 home, including ceiling work and extensive trim. We can't say enough good things about the work, about Michael, and about Michael's design sensibilities. We live in an old house but were looking for a more updated feel inside. He worked with us to choose colors, which was extremely helpful as we didn't know where to start. He has a very good sense of where his clients want to go and was masterful at getting there. When we changed our minds with one room, he worked with us to get to a better place. Other than his taste, we were most pleased at his level of honesty and professionalism: he started exactly as promised, and was extremely good at communicating with us. We added a children's room at the end, which he came in at 5am to paint. Since finishing, he has been in twice to deal with any loose ends-- in both cases, far above and beyond call of the job. He was a great pleasure to work with and we have referred him to a few of our friends, and expect to use his company again ourselves.
Description of Work: Painting several rooms and interior core of house through third floor, sunroom and windows, some exterior work, including offsite spraypainting of wooden blinds, and extensive trim work. In addition, Michael advised on color choices/design.

Michael was professional and detail-oriented from the start. He over-delivered on every point, and the paint job was absolutely flawless, perfect. His suggestions for paint colors and types of paint were spot on -- he clearly has tons of experience. Even better, he completed the entire job, cleaned up, and was out of there in half the time I expected. I will use Michael Noel from now on, without reservation. You just can't go wrong with this guy.

I am overjoyed with the results and the entire experience! My condo has been transformed into a show place and I have already received many compliments from friends and neighbors. Two of the rooms (living room and bathroom) needed a lot of attention due to water damage and now you can't even tell that anything occurred----Michael is such a perfectionist. In addition, he functioned as a "handyman" around my house while he was there: fixing my kitchen faucet and toilet seat and replacing the outdated lighting fixture in my kitchen. He also helped me to select new bathroom accessories. This was all above and beyond the original scope of work, yet I was not charged for these extras.
Description of Work: I contacted Michael initially to conduct a color consultation for my condo (680 sq ft - one bedroom) and provide an estimate for the work effort to paint all four rooms (walls, ceilings and trim). This meeting went so well and the estimate was so reasonable that I decided to hire him for the painting as well.
