HORRIBLE !!! Their work ethic and professionalism is non existent. I fired them on Day 2. They showed up on Day 1 and left 4 subcontractors to do the work. The sheets hung on the ceiling did not meet with the wall - and the sheets on the wall did not meet the ceiling. Spaces between sheets all over the place. random holes in the walls - and the worst part - Electric Outlet box and Light switch box were covered over / hidden. I asked them to fix everything and the response was - "You are crazy - You don't know what you are talking about... and everything could be patched... " I told them to fix everything or leave - I would not pay for this... The amount I was paying "Patching" was not an option. The Replacement contractor was horrified by what Augusta Plaster considered acceptable work. Everything is being thrown away... and starting over. Complete AMATEURS !!!

I have been in construction for over 20 years and I have seen some good people, and some people that don't care about the quality of there work nor there pride. The person I originally hired for the job canceled the day before he was suppose to come to do the job. So I went online and searched for someone to plaster my entire basement, 75 sheets of drywall in total. I called Jim on a Monday and left a message on his machine and his wife called me back several hours later. She told me that she would have Jim call me back later. Jim called me later that night and asked to come look at the scope of the work. He did come to see the job and said he would return on Wednesday. I had all of the stock on site for him, all the seems were already taped, all the corner bead was already installed and the entire basement floor was already covered with tar paper so the mess would be a easy clean up. Jim and five of his guys came Wednesday morning at 7:30 am to do the job which seemed great. Unfortunately, I was at work while they were doing the job. I came home around 2:30 that afternoon to see Jim, his son Frank, and a few other men that were in there late seventies. They had completed the job and everything seemed ok, until I started taking a closer look at all there plaster work. All of the walls and ceilings where supposed to be absolutely a smooth finish, but after a few days of the plaster drying, I noticed cracks everywhere and the walls where so bumpy and ruff that there was no way I could paint them. Then I also noticed that one of my closets wasn't even a smooth finish, they made the entire closet with a swirl finish. They left all the trash behind from doing the job, which I had to clean up and dispose of ten large bags of trash. I called Jim Augusta and asked him to come take a look at the job. I had to take a day off from work to meet him at my house, and when him and one of his workers showed up dressed in nice clean clothes, I could tell that they had no intentions on fixing this mess. They sanded one wall for five minutes and told me not to worry about the cracks. I called Jim a few days later to talk to him about the walls and the ceilings were not paintable in this condition, and his reply to me was, is what do you want me to do? I had five guys there and sometimes this happens, his wife was in the background screaming and Jim told me his wife was very sick and don't bother him no more, then he hung up the phone on me. I ended up renting a Porter cable power sander which hooks up to a vacuum cleaner to keep the dust down from Home Depot for several days. I also had to purchase many sponge sanding blocks, sanding screens and sand paper. I spent three full weekends in my basement, sanding, skim coating bumpy spots, fixing cracks and just awful work. You should never have to sand plaster, and definetlly skim coat it after being completed. Do yourself a favor. Don't ever hire JIM AUGUSTA PLASTERING! They are located at 4 Michael Dr, Danvers Ma. 01923 There phone number is (978) 777-6611

The contractor showed up earlier than planned, 7am instead of 7:45am, but that was ok as I just had them wait 20 minutes while I finished prepping the area. The owner, Jim did ask for cash mid way through the job which makes me laugh that he states he's insured. His English is not that well and all of his workers (3 in addition to him) did not speak English. When they were done, and we were able to see the walls there was scrape marks all down our kitchen side walls from their dowels (tools), and plaster all over the kitchen (dried plaster, not dust). Even plaster in our refridgerator, they helped themselves to water without asking. We ended up having to have our kitchen repainted (an expense we did not plan for) because of all the scrape marks they made. In addition, they left our water running in our garden hose, which ended up blowing out our hose. I had thought they shut it off. Overall, not professional and considering he "works under the table" and has no respect for peoples home, I suggest not to use this company.

Jim and his crew arrived the day agreed upon. They cleared the rooms of all furniture. The work was completed in one day. They cleaned up all three rooms of debris and replaced all the furniture. Very friendly, hard working crew. The only minor issue was they had to remove / disconnect the ceiling lights. They never re-installed or connected these lights. When asked to, I was told they do not do electrical work. I had hire an electrican to reconnect the lights. That being said, I would hire Jim again.
Description of Work: was hired to repair three ceilings in the home (two bedrooms and one bathroom).
