What made this experience an A experience is the communication and knowledge. We had problems getting to e-mail on the web (had been using Outlook Express), and Geek Choice had no problem with our coming to their office to run our computer hooked up to one of their monitors. It's a small office and all 3 technicians leaped into the discussion about why we couldn't log in. One of them knew how to decode our password. Wow! It turns out it had a capital first letter, which we never use in other situations. They didn't charge me for this help. They also gave me advice about migrating Hotmail. Again no charge. There were problems with the overnight delivery of the new screen that I had selected. Lots of phone calls back and forth. Geek Choice always called back when they said they would, and when the day of delivery was drawing to a close, my contact person took my phone number to put on his cell phone, as he would be home after 5, and the last possible delivery was 7, with a flunky at the office. Whenever I called, if it was after 10, the person I'd been dealing with responded, "Hi, Laurel," after I said Hello. I guess he'd put my name in the system. But it felt like he recognized my voice. A small thing, but it shows they're working on customer relations. ,
Description of Work: My computer display no longer worked. When I called Geek Choice I got a knowledgeable person (I may have briefly gone through a receptionist - I forget). He told me it was one of three things, and explained. That was reassuring. I was able to bring the laptop in immediately (it was late in the day) and the next morning they told me the screen had died and a new one was needed. They ordered a new one and installed it.

I The service call went extremely well. The tech was very professional and took the time to answer every question I had. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for home service for their computers.
Description of Work: I have had issues with my computer (MAC) and had called the apple store a number of times but the issues were still not resolved, so I called Geek Service. The tech came to my house and went through every problem with me one by one. He took the time to explain what happened and "why", making it easier for me to understand. The tech was very professional and didn't look down on the fact that there were things with the computer that I didn't understand. I would recommend this company to anyone who is having problems and needs someone to resolve any issues with their computer.

At first, it was a terrible experience. The first technician with whom I worked did a very poor job, and the manager was testy and disrespectful when I called to express my concerns. However, the second technician was very nice and did a much better job with the repairs.

I thought the service provider was very competent. The work turned out to be a little more pricey than I had thought it would be. He gave me really great advice and said I really needed to replace my desktop MAC computer with a laptop which was accurate.

To continue with the above explanation of services, the Geek Squad Tech, Gary Wells, was very patient with all question's we had regarding why our PC was operating so slow and what he was able to accomplish during his 90 minute visit to achieve a much faster PC operation. As my wife and I have now been using our PC a day after the Geek Squad visit, we are extremely happy with the noticable speed. Every application, including email, is much more effecient. During his visit Gary also reviewed some of our software applications such as "photosmart express", Garmin lifetime updater, Norton Security Suite, etc, etc. My wife and I also got an education on music downloads with ipods and what computer's were currently leading the pack in sales....and which companies were having problems with subpar products etc. All in all, this was a great experience. And to top it off we paid just $75 (through the Angie's List Big Deal's promotion)..... a huge savings. What a bonus both price wise and customer service satisfaction.
Description of Work: Geek Squad technician Gary Wells peformed a total clean up service of my 8 year old destop PC. The tune up included removing old, useless programs, checked for viruses and uploaded a few upgraded applications that will allow my wife and I to use a more comprehensive and faster clean up of temp files and "cookies" etc on a regular basis. New upgraded virus protection was also installed . Gary, with the permission of his Supervisor, also put in some extra time at no charge to be sure we received a complete clean up of our PC because they were a little late getting to us do to a scheduling glitch. My wife and I felt the Geek Squad went above and beyond the standard protcol for customer satisfaction.

the technician did everything very quickly, without explanation. he kept giving me advice and then jumping to another topic. it was very difficult to follow what he was saying. other than clearing my registry, it seems as if i had already tried the rest of the things he did. he was very casual and unprofessional, taking a personal call on his cell phone while working.

Everything went well, he came and started immediately and spent the whole hour getting rid of things I didn't need and cleaned up all the junk I had accumulated, then installed the two software programs that I could use myself. My computer was much faster when he got through and I use the programs every two weeks and my computer now runs great.
Description of Work: Cleaned up my computer and added some funtions that I could use in the future to do it myself.

My experience with Geek Choice was positive from start to finish, from setting the appointment to the completion of the work. The staff members were courteous and professional throughout. The technician arrived on time and worked conscientiously to resolve my problems. He took extra steps the ensure that the entire system was working properly before he left. The work took approximately 30 minutes longer than the hour that was included in the deal, but the additional charge was reasonable. I would recommend Geek Choice to other Angie's List members.
Description of Work: The technician resolved several issues with my wireless network, PC and laptop in approximately 90 minutes. He checked the security settings on the PC and the laptop and scanned the system for viruses and malware. He corrected the wireless setup to allow the laptop to receive e-mail and to share other files with the primary PC.

The technician came when scheduled and, in fact, worked longer than the one hour of the special. The problem is that the next time I used my computer after the technician worked on it, it crashed. After seeing on the screen for over three hours that it was "trying to reapair" itself, I turned it off. It would then not even reboot. Finally the screen message asked if I had added any devices and if so, to remove them. I unhooked the back-up hard drive and my computer went into repair mode again. After six hours, it was again working. I wanted a technician so that I could avoid mistakes in setting up devices - and this did not happen with Geek Choice. I would not use them again.
Description of Work: This was an Angie's List special price for one hour of service. The technician came when scheduled and, in fact, worked longer than the one hour. He seemed very knowledgable. He checked my computer and cleaned up the screen and removed items that were slowing it down. He also connected a back-up hard drive and put in the settings for it, redoing some of the settings after he'd first entered them.

I called and set up an appointment date and time. They didn't show up. I called. They said he was coming. I waited some more. I called again and said I couldn't wait anymore. They had never called me to update me. The manager of customer service called a couple days later. He said that is not how they usually do business. He said he would comp (free) my one hour service if I would give them another chance. I told him he was smart to do that because I was about to write a poor review. I said OK. They sent a senior technician. He did a very good job. He stayed beyond the hour and charged me just for the overage. I had one more question after he left. I called and asked that the technician call me back on my one question. They said they would get him the question and that he would call me back. He didn't. I tried again. Still no call back. I forget if I tried a third time or not. Never got a call back. So you see that my experience was mixed. I don't think I'll use them again.

Furthermore, my office has no record of you filing a complaint with us about service, OR asking for a refund, as we have a strict customer satisfaction policy here. Had you called our office we would have sent someone else out to fix anything that was wrong at no charge whatsoever. I would like to extend 3 hours of credit for Geek Choice service should you choose to give us another chance, and I thoroughly apologize for this experience. But, I do think that when you have a problem with someone's service, you should call them and let them know first, to see if we could make it right, rather that rashly giving us all "F's" without giving us a chance

Overall it went very well, I'm happy with the way the desk computer is responding. the speed is noticeably faster when it comes to opening programs ect. I've only had a chance to work on one of the laptops and that also seems to be pretty good. I didn't rate the price since I haven't used a commercial firm to work on my computers. prior to this I had a friend taking care of my computer needs but he wasn't always available when I needed work, and the rest of the story is the Angie's List coupon popped up at a time I needed work so that was my introduction to Geek Choice and it was worth it. Problems fixed in 1 visit at a time that was convenient to me. And YES I would/do recommend them
Description of Work: The tech checked the performance of 3 computers (1 desk & 2 laptops) removed the antivirus programs from 2 different companies that were running slow, cleared a lot of junk that I accumulated and stuff that was not being or never used.installed a different antivirus/security program that does seem to clear items faster. Recommended changing my home page and installed a network hard drive and synced the 3 computers to it. NOTE: price included the coupon prev. purchased thru the List. there was an additional $30 to the antivirus/security service.

As always Gary was fast and efficient. No time was wasted. Gary always leaves me with the feeling that I got my monies worth THIS WAS PROBABLY GARRY'S 5TH OR 6TH SERVICE CALL AND I WOULD HAVE HIM AGAIN!!.

Wesley was extremely good and very professional. I would definitely have him back and recommend him. He was very gracious in answering my questions which must have seemed basic to him. When I set up the appointment with Geek Squad, I had to ask the name of who would be coming. I was given a first name only. Wesley did not have anything on his car or a picture ID that had him as a Geek Squad employee. If I did not have his first name, he would not have been let in my house. All Geek Squad employees should have a picture ID that identifies them as such especially now. This is the reason for the overall 'B' rating.

It wasn't a horrible experience, but not what I expected. He was very blase about explaining what he was doing to my computer. In the end it was fixed, though. I had a short list of what to fix, which he did. Whatever he fixed, took an hour and then he went over into the next hour, which he did not give me a heads up about, he still charged me for the extra time.
Description of Work: He did a simple fix on my computer, but he was a little indifferent towards providing good service.

His name was Gary Wells. He was very pleasant and efficient, went right to work on the computer and while waiting for things to download he was looking at and working on the tablet. Superman, He did the job. I am VERY pleased

The person sent by Geek Choice was just great. He asked what kind of problem I was having, and then went to work to figure out what was wrong. It took him only a short while to get to the bottom of it, even though the problem was very rare (something he said he had not seen before). New parts had to be installed. He checked to make sure these were in stock, and called back the next morning to say he could come in the early afternoon to make the repairs. He did those with great efficiency, and then helped with a couple of other things that I requested. The technician was very knowledgeable, worked efficiently, and was willing to explain everything he did. I was very, very pleased with the service and outcome. Couldn't have been better!
Description of Work: My Mac computer had been acting up in a bizarre way, and I could not figure out what was wrong. I needed someone to diagnose the problem and then fix the computer.

I spent about $200. Their price was standard. I was having problems with my computer. I couldn?t get it to work. So, they came out and got rid of viruses. They came out on time. It worked well. They were able to get the computer working. They helped me with things I could do to prevent it from happening again. It was a good service. I have used them several times before. They are very good at coming out quickly. I am not sure if I will be using them again as I have switched to using PC of another company. So, I probably will not be using them again. If hadn?t switched over, I would have continued with this company.
