They were originally supposed to show up on Friday. I called the company and found out that the worker could not make it. They scheduled it for the next day and gave me $25 off. When he did come, he didn't quite hook everything up right. I contacted them to try and make things right because we had already paid but they never called me back. The people were very cordial, but I wish they would have called me back. My partner had to call Bose and go over how to fix everything over the phone.

Person who came was pleasant and spent more time than the $75 big deal promised without charging me. He tried very hard but while the computer worked again afterwards, it was/is still very slow and still froze. However, it was an improvement. I was probably too hopeful that I the computer would be in great shape after $75.

The appointment was supposed to be from 9-10 a.m. About 9:55 the technician called and said he'd be there between 11 and 11:30, was that OK? I said yes. He arrived about 12:15. After the service, the touch pad was still finicky, and it's gotten worse since the "repair". In addition, I'm not sure exactly what he did, but he removed ALL my software: MS Office, & McAfee being the 2 biggest problems. He also did not tell me either before he did whatever it was nor did he let me know afterwards that those programs were gone. I tried to open something and I got the ever so helpful "It looks like you're trying to open an Excel file. You need to buy MS Office." At follow up call, the woman said she would bring this up with the manager, but I never heard back from them. Very disappointing. Will not usethem again.

The computer technician, Tammy, was excellent. He arrived on time and was very personable. Our computer is several years old and has been running slow, so he cleaned it up for us. He tried to show us how to perform some maintenance tasks on our own. After he was finished, he had to call in to the main Geek Choice number to settle the bill. When I spoke with the person on the phone from Geek Choice, I was astonished when they told me the bill was for $300, which included 2.5 hours service at $100 per hour and a $50 fee for home visit. I informed her that I had ordered the first hour through Angie's List for $75 and that the home visit fee was waived. She retrieved my information and charged me a balance of $135, to include the reduced hourly fee of $90 per hour. So Angie's List saved me almost $100, which I totally appreciate. I give the technician high marks but the company, Geek Choice, seems like just another corporation trying to make more money off the consumer than they should. I'm glad I went through Angie's List.

I was not happy with them. They didn't fix it very well. It wasn't really repaired. It still had some complications with it. They were congenial but if you call them to get your computer fixed and it is not fixed. This man was leaving town immediately and was really in some kind of band. You want your computer person to be a computer person.

My computer was running slowly and I thought there was probably a lot of extra stuff on it I didn't need. Matt got right to work cleaning it up. He was very good at his work and very accommodating to my requests. He also explained some things in a way I could understand. He was very friendly and professional at the same time and did not talk down to me. I felt confident in his abilities. HOWEVER he also downloaded a photo storing site because he could see I had lots of photographs not very well organized. I didn't ask him to do this and it has turned out to be a problem. When I next went to upload photographs from my camera, I no longer could find the old reliable software that I had been using and I had no idea how to use the new software. I talked to the company and they said they would send him to my house again; they also said I would have PAY to have this straightened out. I feel that this is not appropriate. I am therefore rating the company with a C rather than with the A I had previously wanted to give them.

Technician was 1.5 hours late but did not call to alert me. After about 1 hour waiting, I called the main number and they tried to reach the technician but could not. They said his cell phone was probably dead. But when he finally arrived, he appared to be making a call in his car before he knocked on my door. When he entered, directed him to my biggest problem, which was a networked printer not working on two computers, a window 7 and a chromebook. Tech spent about 50 minutes working on the chromebook with no success. Then I suggested he give up on the chromebook and switch to the windows computer, since I had only purchased a 1 hour deal from Angie's list. I asked if he could work longer or give me some credit for the 50 minutes he's spent on unsuccessfully attempting to fix the chromebook printing, and he said to call the main office. Main office agreed to let him work for 30 additional minutes with no additional charge. Then he reinstalled the printer on the windows computer, and it worked. Although a few weeks later, the scanner portion of the printer, which he did not test, is not working on this Windows computer. At least the printer is still working on the windows 7 computer. Tech did show me how to log into my router, which I had not installed myself. He did install a new antivirus program on two windows computers as well. Still, overall disappointing. Had I not intervened with the tech and called the home office, I wonder how long he would have kept working on the chromebook?

Working with Geek Choice was great. Used a "big deal" (which I believe was $50 off $100 worth of work). I had an old Dell (about 11 years old) which finally 'blue screened' on me and died. I had lots of old documents, photos, files, etc. saved to the hard drive that I wanted to recover. I also had a brand new all-in-one PC that I wanted set up as well. The tech showed up in the time frame stated, and was able to remove the hard drive from the old Dell....and transfer all the data to the new all-in-one. In addition to transferring all my info to the new PC, he was also able to set up my browser with my internet favorites etc. I believe it was two hours total which came to $150 total (minus the $50 from my Big Deal). I would definitely not hesitate to use them again.

I was having problems with my computer. It seemed like the computer had a virus. I was typing many pages of a special project. The words that appeared on the screen were not the words I had typed. This happened quite a few times. The more I tried to retype, the more the problem worsened. I've been using the computer and Microsoft Word for many years and had never had a problem. In order to finish the project in time, I called for help from the Geeks. A very polite Geek called back within an hour or so after my call for service. He pulled up the page I was presently completing so he could see it on his screen. He told me it wasn't a virus, but a problem with Word. Called Microsoft, and followed their instructions to install latest updates which solved the problem.

I called to schedule a 1-hour in-home computer tune-up. The person I spoke with seemed very professional and we made an appointment for 3:30 pm the next Friday. ON the day of the appointment, my husband got a call at 9 am from someone who said he was coming to our house and was going to late. The guy calling had trouble explaining who he was, but my husband figured out eventually that he was coming from Geek Choice and that he thought the appointment was at 9 am. My husband explained that I wasn't home and that the appointment was actually scheduled for 3:30 pm. The technician was pretty upset - despite the fact that he was half an hour away from our house at that time. But he did agree to come at 3:30 pm. At 3:50 pm, no sign of him. I called to see what was going on. He didn't apologize, just said he was caught in traffic -- that Friday afternoons are a bad time to be on the highway. At the time, he was so far away that even without traffic it would have taken him 30 minutes to get to our house. I said we would need to reschedule and he seemed shocked. I decided that with that level of customer service, I would just find someone else.

I wasn't too happy with the service. It might have been that my computers were really old. The guy came and pretty much wiped my laptop. He said, we'll just reload everything. Once he did that it didn't work at all. It was worse after he left. It was a pretty old laptop but I was able to use it before. I ended up paying extra too because he stayed longer than what was on the big deal. He was very likeable. I just wasn't too happy with the results.

Super, He talked my through each step, had me watch everything he did. Had me test, to be sure I was stisfied. Told me to keep traack of any problems to keep a list and to call back with any problems. It was the best repair experience ever.

It was fine. My computer was virus ridden and he worked on it for over an hour. He was a very nice gentleman and tried everything. At the end of the day my computer was not working. I do not blame him, he really tried his best. He came as soon as I called him. There were no additional charges. He was upfront about the money. He advised I reinstall the operating system and did not try to sell me anything.

On Tuesday they called to try to move the appt forward to 11:45, but I said I wouldn't be there until 12:00 as arranged. The technician who met me was Robert Delpozo. Hr was excellent--well informed, punctual, courteous, friendly, and skilled. He solved the problem and then took care of second problem. When he called the main office, again. the woman who answered was confused and did not know her job well. I paid extra money for the time spent on my second problem. In conclusion, the technician was excellent, but the responsiveness of the administrative staff was average to poor.
Description of Work: Initially I provided 3 dates for my availability but nobidy responded. I again supplied more dates and still got no response! Then I brought it to the attention of Angie's List. A week later the vendor left me a message and I responded with a call to the vendor. A woman answered and she offered an appointment on Monday between 12-2. I said I would be out of town and requested Tues.or Wed. She gave me the Tues. slot 12--2. On Monday at 8am the vendor called and they were reminding me about my appointment that day. I explained they had it wrong, that it was made for Tuesday. The man on the phone tried to argue with me, saying that I made a mistake. I got angry with him and said that I was certain about the Tuesday appointment and that he was insulting me! Eventually we proceeded with the Tues. Appt.

Michael came to work on my computer. He became very interested in my particular problem. He solved the issue and installed my printer which I had not been able to do. He knew what the problem was and they sent an Apple Specialist to handle it.
