Geek Choice Nationwide Remote & In Home Service

This was a follow up call. The first technician was unable to hook up my printers for some reason. Mike was great! I am totally satisfied. The only reason for the B rating was because the job was not completed the first time.

Scheduling turned out very well. He explained what he was doing and answered any questions I had. The computer has been running very well since. The price was very good.

I purchased a big deal for this company. It was pretty good. I still have a few problems but I was satisfied. But I have to sort of get back to him and ask him if he can give me a few instructions over the phone. Yes I was satisfied.

Great. My first appointment had to be rescheduled because their tech ran over in a previous appointment. They called me, to let me know (a little later, than ideal, but not unreasonably later). Anyway, we scheduled for a better day and time for me. Also, they explained that the arrival would be between 11am-12pm, whereas, before I thought the actual appointment was for 12:pm-1:pm, so I was better informed. Mike came within the scheduled time on my new date. Introduced himself. He was very professional, knowledgeable, didn't rush me. As he was updating my computer and getting rid of the viruses, he was explaining it to me, and also offering advice on scams that are currently out there. He also answered my questions about updating my computer system based on my needs. He also showed my what to do to keep up the fight against the viruses and to try to keep my speed up. (Of course this is a constant battle). Before he left, I signed his sheet and I gave him a copy of the voucher, and he was on his way. I fould the experience to be pleasant, fast and I was very satisfied with the service I received.

Michael Arrived on time and was very professional and knowledgable about how to deal with my specific computer problem . I would not hesitate to use this service again.

Went good he was very pleasant. The only thing I was expect the pc to run faster it still slow.

They made an appointment quickly and came promptly (actually I was late for our appt and he waited for me). He diagnosed the problem and where was the best place to put the extended router. He tried to use an extra router I already had to extend the network, but they wouldn't communicate. He didn't have another router (Apple Airport) on his truck, so we made an appt to come back on Monday (it was Friday). They came back on Monday with a new router and hooked it up and everything worked. The only thing was I had to pay an additional $40 from the original visit because they didn't have an extra router on the truck on Friday. Not too bad, considering they came back right away. All in all I'd say they were professional, knew what they were doing, explained things clearly, were prompt and solved my problem! What more could you want. I would use them again.

He got the computer started and then ran a couple of programs to clean up all kinds of errors that had been making the computer work slowly and occasionally freeze. Then he changed several things on the computer to make it simpler to meet my needs. I used the Angies list deal to get an hours worth of work for seventy-five dollars It would have been worth it if I had to pay the full price of one-fifty. The appointment was scheduled for a couple of days after I called them and the technician came to my house on time and performed exceptionally well.

All went very well. Update: After using my new laptop, I began to notice that it was not hooked up properly. I contacted them and they set up remote assistance. The remote tech called me from Florida, I am in Massachusetts. After a few attempts, he wasn't even able to get me logged in. I have spent $225.00 and am still not able to take full advantage of my new laptop.

These guys are great. The technician, Mike, was professional and efficient. He went out of his way to make everything right even though we had a problem with the cable service provider while activating the new cable modem, requiring a second visit on 10/25. I'll use them again next time I need help with anything "geeky" that needs doing.

It went very well. First, Geek Choice sent Michael to my house on the day that I called for service. Fantastic! Michael had me watch him while he worked, and he explained everything that he was doing, and why. He explained very clearly why my computer was running so slowly, talking about operating systems and RAM, and that newer programs require much more RAM than in the past. He told me that some programs use RAM even when they're not being used. He told me that the reason I couldn't see any difference in my laptop's speed after upgrading to FiOS Quantum was that my OS wasn't able to handle it. My laptop is two or three generations behind the latest units. He fixed what he could, and he discussed my options, which were to either put more RAM in my older laptop, or go with a new computer which would work better and faster. I decided to get a new computer. He helped me choose a new laptop on Micro Center's website. He described what he thought were important features, and suggested that a higher-end laptop would last several years because it has greater capacity than lower-end ones. He had nothing to gain by my choice, so I trusted his opinion. He looked through the options, telling me what he thought was a good choice. He even filled out the order form, explaining that certain features offered as part of the "package deal" were not necessary for me, which allowed me to spend only what I truly needed to spend. All in all, I (and my husband, who asked Michael to look at his computer and figure out why it was running so poorly -- Michael diagnosed the problem immediately, made a couple of changes, and restored things to normal within five minutes) will definitely use Geek Choice again. In fact, I received my new laptop a few days ago, and I'm going to call Geek Choice and ask for Michael to transfer my files from my old laptop onto the new one, and set me up with the right software, including virus protection.

The reason I am changing my rating of this company from D to an F are: They owe me $942.59 and refuse to pay me. They engage in blackmail and threats such as having my "blackmail review thrown off of the site." If they can do that, then what good is Angie's List? If Angie's List can't or won't intervene, I plan to report Geek Choice to the Better Business Bureau and filing a complaint with the Boston Licensing Division I'm hoping I won't have to take these steps. As a longtime Angie's List subscriber, I'm hoping you can persuade Geek Choice to pay me the money they owe me. I mean, would you really like to recommend a company that has all of these complaints against it? If needed, I will be glad supply written proof of everything I have stated above

Mike from Geek Choice was amazing! When he arrived at my house (on time and ready to roll), there was a mass of computer monitors and other equipment, two printers (neither hooked up), a pile of cords, my trusty laptop (which did not communicate with the printer) and miscellaneous other computer "stuff" in a pile on my desk. I had purchased an hour of his time with an Angie's List special and he made the use of that very well. With Mike's help, we were able to figure out what to keep and what to toss, he hooked up my laptop to my monitor and wireless keyboard, which completely eliminated the need for me to buy a new computer. He got my laptop talking to my printer, so I can now copy, print and scan. He got rid of all the unnecessary "junk" in my computer, so it runs much faster, and helped me get rid of any viruses. He helped me create a list of additional equipment/software I needed to properly service my equipment and improve its operation, and told me where I could get the best price on certain items. Most important, he showed me step by step how to work all of the equipment once he had it all hooked up, and explained things so even a techno-idiot like me could understand them. As a result, I am no longer intimidated by all the computer equipment on my desk. When it became clear that the scope of the work would exceed the hour I purchased, Mike worked diligently to finish the work with an additional 75 minutes of work. I received a "special rate" for the extra hour as an Angie's List member. He even stayed a few minutes after we concluded our official business, to show me how to "clean" my computer periodically so the computer junk is kept at bay. The total cost of the work -- less than $200.00 for well over 2 hours of work -- was the best investment I have made in a very long time. Mike was professional and courteous. He was concerned about leaving my workspace so I did not trip over wires and cords. And he was really nice to my dogs, so that was a plus, too! I suspect this will not be the last time I will need some computer support. I will not hesitate to contact Mike and Geek Choice for my future computer related need and I recommend them highly. Well done, Geek Choice!..

They came on time. The guy was polite. He was excellent on what he did. He finished it and did a couple of extra things while he was there. So, it was a good experience.

We purchased a $75.00 certificate from Angie's List for 1 hour of service from Geek Choice, The company called the next day to schedule the service and scheduled it for 2 days later. The person could not have been any nicer. The tech showed up on time and there was a problem with the printer and printer company. He stayed on the phone with them until everything was corrected and got everything up and running for us. We could not have been any happier with the company. The customer service was outstanding - if we could give them an A+ we would. We would absolutely use this company again.

On time Efficient I bought their services as a Big Deal. Great value. Will use them again.

All work was done well. I delayed reviewing because I had left a message for a follow-up visit, but apparently it didn't reach the tech who performed the service. Nonetheless, I would use the company's service again and would request the same technician.

Sean was punctual - arrived @ the two hour period id'd by the company, was efficient in finding & fixing the problems with the computer, answered all my questions and provided some "free advice".

It was good. They were professional and came on time.

Provider's employee was prompt, professional and pleasant. A application setting mistake was discovered, which two other firms were unable to find.

It worked out well! I liked the guy I was working with. I had one recommendation which I actually told them that it just wasn't transparent about cost. When I got the bill I was like, "Oh!" but it was enormously helpful for me. The service was done over a 3 week period in June. They were just really incredibly good helping me make a decision about what would be best for me and my life and the kinds of things I do. So that was really good. I was really happy because I had talked to another group and they just were not nearly as savvy as Geek Choice. My old computer was just a dinosaur. It was an HP but it had Windows Vista which everybody hates and they stopped making after like two years. It was awful and I have very specific needs in terms of what I do because I work with data; data analysis, statistical analysis, research and things like that. So I need a processor that's pretty powerful and on the other hand I loved my computer and so I wanted something small and slim and not heavy. Basically, I'm storing most of my documents on the cloud now which they helped me to figure out how to do and walked me through it and all that. It's just working well! I have two homes and so I have the exact same computer in both places. So I don't have to walk around between one place to another. It's really easy and this particular computer is a great one because I can use it as a Pad as well as a computer. It's the Lenovo Thinkpad and you can turn the screen on the laptop completely over so that it's flat against the other side of the computer and then put a sleeve over the main part of the computer with the keyboard and then I have a remote keyboard so I just leave it on the table and then I just, if I need to, type in on the remote keyboard. It's just a really nice kind of sleek solution, not having the computer sitting in the middle of some place particularly when I'm seeing the clients. It's just kind of out of the way. I hadn't really thought of all these possibilities and they were just really great! We went back and forth a lot and talked about the possibilities but ended up with things that I think were really good for me.

Have used Gary for some years now. Does an excellent job. Fixed my pc in one hour. PCV is getting flaky and will need all software re-entered down the road. Estimated cost to reneter is $450-$550. When the time comes I will have Gary.

The technician who came out was great. Their prices were reasonable. Scheduling went smoothly and the job was done very quickly and I would recommend their services to others.
