Description of Work: Empire Today responded very quickly to the request for an estimate. The problem was the estimate was verbal only and the representative refused to put anything in writing. My wife was at home for the quote, which was $3,000 to install 285 sq ft of laminate flooring. When asked to supply a written quote the rep said, "That's not how we do it." The actual area to be floored was 240 sq ft.

Description of Work: We called Empire to replace a very small carpet that had been damaged in the winter as well as carpet our stairs in the front hall. Initially, they were quite responsive and sent a representative out right away with samples and an estimate. It all went down hill from there. After taking our deposit, they became significantly less responsive. When we finally managed to get an appointment scheduled we specifically requested a morning appointment and took an entire day off of work...after waiting and waiting we were finally told that they would not arrive until 4:00 in the afternoon to do the installation. Additionally, the quote estimate had somehow doubled by this time. We immediately canceled our service with them and demanded our deposit back. After some initial push back, they gave it to us. We feel they were dishonest and unprofessional, and would never recommend them.

Description of Work: The person who came to measure and show us samples arrived 4 hrs late , showing up at my home at 10:30 at night. The installers scratched my new paint and they did not bring enough carpet to finish the job either. When i called empire to complain they were not at all helpful. I would never use there service again!!

Description of Work: When I made the appointment they said my husband should be at the presentation. I told them that was not possible and they made an appointment anyway. When the salesman arrived he pretty much said "this is a waste of time" because my husband wasn't there. Then he took a cursory look and gave me a price that seemed high as there was a 1/2 off special going on. I asked for a breakdown of costs-labor, padding, carpet etc. and he said they don't do that- just an overall price. He was basically done as soon as he knew my husband wasn't there. It was a waste of time- mine!

They were the first company available for an estimate. They worked with our schedule and came back a second time to answer additional questions. Once we decided on them they offered to be back out the next day for the install. We chose the following Saturday instead. The crew of three showed up on time and worked straight through until the project was done. After they left we noticed that they only installed one two-shelf caddy (rather than two). We also discovered after showering that there was a drip from the replaced trap. We called Empire and they sent the crew back out the following day. They explained that two may look cluttered so we opted for one three-shelf caddy instead. One quick adjustment and the problem of the drip was solved.
Description of Work: Installed bathtub/shower surround (without tub), window kit, ceiling, and faux beadboard wainscoting to cover existing tile; replaced existing shower fixtures with a new Moen set; replaced sections of wall that were water damaged and removed damaged tiles; in addition, we also had them replace the bathtub trap (we had direct access through our gutted first floor bathroom).

Empire Today didn't measure the right amount of carpet the first time so they had to come out with the proper measurements and install our carpets. I guess that is why I wouldn't give them A's across the board. They did do a good job on my carpets and I am pleased with their service.
Description of Work: Empire Today installed new carpet to 2 bedrooms, 2 two closets and my hallway. There was no flooring was removed.

Empire has a great sales team that doesn t put so much pressure on you that you feel coaxed into anything. This time around they understood that I wanted something not so expensive to install because I was leaving the home in two years after the lease was up. They knew just what to do and the salesmen helped me pick out the right colors and informed me on the procedure. The workers that installed were very professional, courteous and extremely good at what they do. The entire process was very smoothly done.
Description of Work: They installed two floating tiled floors and one rug. The two floating tile floors were thirteen by thirteen and the rug was twelve by twelve feet long. They took approximately one full day to completely install and all garbage was taken away by them.

I took the day off from work for estimates from Empire for siding, carpets and hardwood flooring. Thirty minutes after my first appointment, they called to say no one was available, for carpet/floor estimates. I previously had an extremely high estimate from them on windows, and used another vendor I was happy with. I have found them unprofessional, misleading on sale terms, and unable to deliver anything but slick ads.
Description of Work: No work was performed, as they never showed for estimate.

I WAS NOT OVERLY PLEASED WITH EMPIRE CARPET. WHEN THE CARPET IS LOOKED AT CLOSELY YOU CAN SEE CUT LINES. CARPET WAS NOT WRAPPED ON TOP STEP OF STAIRS. ISSUES WITH PRICING. I CALLED TO CANCEL THE ORDER BECAUSE I FELT THE QUOTE I RECEIVED WAS WAY TOO HIGH. THEN I WAS TOLD THEY COULD TAKE 1000 OFF SINCE THE CARPET WAS OVERSTOCKED. SO I BASICALLY ENDED UP GETTING THE CARPET FOR HALF PRICE. HAD I NOT CALLED TO CANCEL THEY WOULD NOT HAVE OFFERED ME A DISCOUNTED PRICE.

THEY WERE QUICK TO ARRIVE AND TAKE ORDER AND MONEY, THEN TOOK OVER A MONTH AND DOZENS OF PHONE CALLS TO ACTUALLY INSTALL. NEVER SHOW UP WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD. ITEMS "BACK-ORDERED" THEN "SENT TO WRONG LOCATION". INSTALLER SWORE AT ME. DON'T CALL EMPIRE!!!

I WOULD NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. WE WERE IN A RUSH TO GET THE BASEMENT CARPETED FOLLOWING A FLOOD AND SO WE WERE PERSUADED TO GO WITH THIS COMPANY. YES, THEY CERTAINLY INSTALLED IT QUICKLY, BUT, I THINK THAT THE QUALITY IS TERRIBLE FOR THE PRICE. IN ADDITION, THEIR 'EXPERT' INSTALLERS UNROLLED THE CARPET IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE IT WAS RAINING IN ORDER TO CUT IT! THEY THEN HAD AN ATTITUDE WHEN I COMPLAINED. THE INSTALLATION IS UNEVEN AND UNRAVELS AROUND THE STAIRS.

I WOULD PROBABLY USE THEM AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. THEY GOT THE JOB DONE AND DID A GOOD JOB. WE KNEW THAT IT WASN'T THE BEST QUALITY WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN. OUR DECISION WAS BASED ON PRICE. THIS COMPANY IS LARGE AND SOMETIMES HAS A DIFFICULT TIME COMMUNICATING WITH OTHER DEPARTMENTS WITHIN THE COMPANY.

EMPIRE ADVERTISES THAT THEY COME TO THE HOUSE WITH SAMPLES. I WAS DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SMALL SELECTION THEY OFFERED, BUT FOUND ONE CARPET THAT WAS OK AND ORDERED IT. PRICE SEEMED HIGH, EVEN THOUGH IT INCLUDED PADDING AND INSTALLATION. PUNCTUAL. INSTALLATION LOOKS GOOD.
