My Mom's house had a leak coming into the windows on the top floor. It's a renovated attic so the dormers are where the windows had the leak. Called Duffy and got a call back the next day from Phil. They came out and took a look and gave an estimate. I wasn't there, but they took a picture and emailed it to me. It looked bad and Phil explained that the Dormer is supposed to have a different type of roofing which ours didn't have. It had shingles which is for a high pitch roof. Low pitch roof areas (meaning flat roof areas) need something different. Long story short Phil and Duffy did the job in 1 day as soon as the weather permitted. No more leaks into the windows and they also cleaned out some gutters and put a downspout which had disconnected and fell to the ground. He also gave me some pointers on future work that might be needed. Very happy with Phil. We had other issues going on so it was nice to know that part was done fast and done well. Dave A.

The cost to do this was less than what their minimum service charge was. To make the service call cost effective, Duffy Roofing replaced the rain gutter over the porch which had been bent and also repointed a portion of the house chimney where bricks were damaged and the mortar eroded.

Philip went up on the roof to take a look and told my husband the leak was definitely not coming from the roof. Philip was punctual and professional and explained things well. They discussed future work that could be done and we will definitely be calling them. Never did we feel as though we were going to be scammed. Because of Philip's expertise and clear report, we were able to identify where the real problem was coming from without spending additional money for useless work. Thank you!

Duffy is my go to company for all matters roofing, gutter, etc. They are very responsive, and do high quality work that they stand behind. They actually want to come out once or twice per year to check up on "their" gutters and customer's roofs to catch issues in advance where possible. They can be counted on for quality work and good product. Prices seem a bit high at first vs. some competitors but in the long run they are a better choice vs. competitors whose work doesn't stand up to the worst weather circumstances. Basically you get what you pay for. In this case all work was done well, professionally, and without issue...just as I'd have expected.

These guys were very responsive from the beginning, and gave us the attention we needed, even though we weren't a big job for them. They got the work done very quickly (about 4 hours), and it looks great. Flashing matches our house's exterior paint, and it appears that no shortcuts were taken. Overall, a great experience, and I feel like the price was fair. They offered a 10% discount for paying in cash.

Phil met me for the quote and he took about an hour to look over the job. He explained a number of things about our old roof that was very helpful. For example, he pointed out that the old roofing nails were starting to pop out of the roof, soon the old shingles would start sliding down. He discussed the pros and cons of installing new shingles over old ones and we opted for new shingles over the old one. The quote was a bit high compared to the others, but I did like Phil's knowledge and professionalism. He can be talkative but for me it was good as he demonstrated his expertise and knowledge. The roof is over 3 townhouses with a number of valleys and steep pitches. It is a complicated roof. The crew started the day they were supposed to start, finished in 5 days. They cleaned up after themselves and the property looks great. In addition, Phil saved me money: first, for the roofing price he included a great deal of other work,. We had a dead chimney that needed to be removed and a leaking skylight that was installed as part of the roofing cost. Second and most important, he included cleaning up the gutters so that they should last another 6 or 7 years. This saved us approximately $9K at this time. Finally, the roof vent was not installed on one of the peaks. When this was recognized after the job was done, Phil immediately set up a date to correct the error. Phil was good to work with, was flexible with working out payments, and completed the job when he said it would be done. I believe this is a good outfit to hire and would hire them again when needed.

They were in the neighborhood and fit my small job in after a windstorm. They could have passed me by for larger jobs but they didn't. I appreciate that.

The firm's representative Phil Buswell was prompt in visits to the sight, was very pleasant, and answered all my questions regarding various water issues on the property. He was very generous with his time, both on the sight and in his office, in devising the best solutions. He did not try to sell me things which I didn't need. The expert, courteous crew showed up when expected and completed all the work in two or three days. I was very pleased to come home to find the work so well done, with absolutely no mess left behind. Great care seems to have gone into all the work, including little extras like caulking and touch-up painting under the eaves. These guys seem to take real pride in their work.

It all went well, from first visit with Phil Buswell to work on an estimate. Always clear in his communications and quick to respond to questions. We didn't quite hit the window of when he said the work would be done, but roofing is weather contingent. Phil kept us apprised of when his workers would show up. And when they did they pleasant and efficient and knowledgeable. Once the job was done they cleaned the site up better than it was when they showed up. And the roof and the new gutters look great. Very pleased with their work.

I contacted Duffy Roofing for a quote to repair missing shingles on the roof. The missing shingles had been reported by the gutter cleaning company. I spoke to him on Thursday and he was able to make an appointment to see the job two days later. When he came to the job site, he was very thorough in looking at the roof from multiple angles. He provided lots of feedback about the roof, the gutters, and any possible work. His main message was that the roof was in great shape and if we wanted to tighten down part of vent, we could do the work ourselves. He then proceeded to explain thoroughly how to do the work on the roof. Now, we have a clear checklist of how to repair the roof for very minimal cost. Amazing! He also answered questions about the chimney. I couldn't have been happier with Duffy Roofing. Very highly recommended!!

I could not be happier with the work from Duffy Roofing. We recently purchased a house that had an old wooden gutter than was in very poor repair. It was one of the main issues pointed out in our home inspection prior to purchase. Both the gutter and the soffit looked in terrible shape, especially the corners where it seemed water damage was very apparent. Additionally the original downspouts had been haphazardly routed around the addition on the back of the house. Phil suggested a new aluminum gutter with better designed downspouts. But I was concerned that we might lose some of the charm of the old house by going to a more modern material. Phil assured me that once installed and painted the new work would look better than any type of restoration. Was he ever right! His crew arrived on time and when I arrived home later that day, I had a brand new gutter and downspouts that looked terrific and matched the existing house trim perfectly. I was simply dumbfounded at how good the finished work looked. And now the house is ready for winter. Furthermore, I pointed out some other concerns to Phil and he assured me that they were minor and suggested I tackle them myself (how often does a contractor do that???). I am happy to say that Duffy Roofing is MY roofer.

The first day was a bust, because they called at 7 am, to say they were coming, and my husband got up and moved his car so they could park, and then they didn't come because one of the workers was absent. I guess they came over to say they weren't coming but we didn't get the information. Anyway, they came the next day and did a great job, were finished by noon, and the roof looks good. I presume the gutters are good also, because I watched them blowing out the residue of the leaves before oiling. Now we have to decide about re-roofing the rest of the roof which needs it but maybe can wait a year. We will certainly call Duffy Roofing when we are ready.

Phil and his team were terrific. Phil met with me right away and clearly explained the work to me. His team came out and did the work thoroughly and quickly and cleaned up everything. Phil is professional, pleasant, honest and prompt. I could not have been happier with the work. I would call on him again without hesitation.

I even received information about the best way to proceed with a house shingling repair job that I am planning to do. Even though their company does not handle that, I received some great tips.

The team at Duffy Roofing, led by Brett Duffy, was called to our condo building to give us an assessment and estimate on a failing gutter and downspout system. The Duffy team walked us through the deficiencies they saw and provided us some guidance on how to fix the cost. The Duffy team gave us an estimate and encouraged us to think it over without any pressure to sign on the dotted line. We did some additional due diligence and came to the conclusion that based upon recommendations, years of doing business (over 50), and a guaranty of quality work that Duffy Roofing was the best choice for the job. The Duffy team was very efficient while performing the work and left the site clean. We would absolutely use them again for another project.

I was very pleased with the results. I was able to choose what type of roofing and shingles I wanted. When they came to do the estimate, they were very prompt and very professional. It was very straightforward. They were very clear with what they were gonna do, what kind of materials they were gonna use. They weren’t the high price but not the lowest price either. They were very honest about that. They said they only get a certain percentage of jobs because people were looking for something a little cheaper. So I appreciated the honesty. They were referred by a friend and I knew they were gonna do a fine job so I went with them even though their price was a little more than the others. They also added a ridge vent which made a great difference this summer of keeping the attic a bit cooler than it would have been otherwise. There were some sawdust in the attic after installing the ridge vent and I asked them about that and they said they were gonna clean that up but I don’t know why that wasn’t cleaned. I think they cleaned up the outside stuff but they didn’t do that. It was a little strange but otherwise, I was happy so I let it go. That was the only negative about them. I think their pricing was good. They did exactly what they said they were gonna do.

They did a very good job. I was dealing with the grandson of the owner and he was very polite, respectful, and accommodating. They did a very good clean up and I only found one nail in the drive way. I plan to get an estimate for a new roof next year with them.

I hired them initially to do a repair on an area of the roof that had leaked once during the winter. They did the repair and found that my 22 yo shingles were cracked in many areas. They took pictures and showed me the damaged areas. They came back and redid the whole roof and absorbed the cost of the repair in the cost of the roof. Phil is a nice person, low key. Dealing with contracters can be a nightmare for a woman, but Phil made the process very easy. The roof was finished in less than a day, clean-up was fabulous - came home from work, never would have known they were there.

My wife and I recently purchased a house that didn't have any gutters. There isn't a proper overhang and the rain had taken its toll over the years. Based on prior angie's list reviews, we had hired Duffy Roofing in the past to do some work on our previous house. The customer service we received from Phil and the quality of work provided guaranteed our return to them in the future. So when we decided to install gutters on our new house, Duffy Roofing was our first call. We were worried that our new house would be too far away for Duffy to perform the work, but Phil called me back immediately. He remembered my previous house and we had a friendly discussion about our move and how things have been. Even though they're located in Dorchester and we're had moved to Sherborn, Phil had no problem scheduling an appointment to come all the way out to our house and he even did it on the weekend to accommodate my difficult schedule. Phil arrived to the appointment early and walked the perimeter of our house, inspecting the job, prior to ringing the door bell. We then walked the perimeter together and he explained all that the job would entail and all the services they would provide. While walking the perimeter, I also pointed out a section of the roof where water stains were visible from the inside and my concern about the flashing around our chimney. From what we could see, Phil believed the water stains were old and the roof had already been repaired. But he offered to include an inspection of the roof by his crew and any needed repairs along with an inspection of the chimney flashing and repair work for free. We then went inside so that Phil could write out an estimate and proposed contract. While Phil and I had been discussing the job outside, my wife had been inside, taking care of our 6-month old daughter. Phil immediately introduced himself and rather than focus on writing out the estimate and disregard my wife's interest in the potential work, he began talking with my wife and explained everything to her that he had explained to me outside. This level of attention and care did not go overlooked. Of course we hired Duffy to install our gutters. They arrived when they said they arrived. They brought 3 crews and finished the entire installation in just one day. Phil gave me a call toward the end of the day to tell me how things went. When I got home, I was amazed with their work. The gutters looked perfect. They were very high quality and installed perfectly. On top of the superior product and installation, they also took amazing care to not disturb the surroundings. We have many plantings around the house and I couldn't find a single broken branch or disturbed section of ground. Three crews of guys were there all day and not a single piece of trash was left behind. As if the work already provided wasn't enough, Phil came back out to our house the next day to walk the perimeter with me again to discuss all the work that was done and make sure it was all done to our liking. If you are looking for cheap, sloppy work, these are not the guys to call. But if you want a high quality product, superior craftsmanship, and amazing customer service, give Phil at Duffy Roofing a call.

They did a fantastic job. They arrived on time, did their work and kept my mother informed; she knew exactly what was going on. They gave her a number to call if she had any issues and a warranty. She doesn’t have to worry.

You always smell alcohol when you talk to manager Phil during the day, who always blame you or your house for their poor work. terrible experience, ran away from them.

This was a highly sensitive matter as I share some of the roof with an abutting neighgor who had made claims as to my responsibility (which another contractor later demonstraed as false). However, I had multiple eposodes of failure to respond to my phone calls and failure to show or follow up as well. I wrote a stern letter to Joe Duffy and got no response. These folks had high ratings in Angie's list. However, it is this kind of unresponsive, unresponsible behavior that led Angie to start the list in the first place! They were terrible. I ended feeling disrespected and poorly treated. The delays while waiting for Duffy to responded cost me good will with my neighbor and took up a good deal of my time. After multiple broken promises and lies, I finally went up the ladder to Joe Duffy and wrote the below complaint. Incrediblly, I did not get an answer to this, either. Dear Joe, I took your name because yours is at the top and it feels like this is a good time to "go to the top" You guys have been in business a long time and have a great rep on Angie's list, so before I end up feeling like somehow that is not available to me, let me state my case and see if we can remedy it. I first called over 3 weeks ago, got a secretary who said that Phil would get back to me. After a second call he did, although with some delay. He explained that he was in the hospital, but already, the excuse seemed to eat up more days than seemed reasonable. But we went forward. and as my job would be a small one, he said that he would arrange to do it when he was in Brookline on another job. Fair enough. He then said that he would come by and look at the damage and get back to me. He has not. I also made at least two additional calls and sent one email. No reply. I explained that this is a sensitive situation. The hole is on my side of the roof, but the squirrels are going in to my neighbor's attic. They are not happy with the delay. He and I also have a business connection. This is not helping that. So, I feel like I have not gotten top service, and in reality, that I have not gotten any service, but have just been ignored. I am tempted to vent on Angie's list. But, frankly, I would rather have someone at Duffy just pick up the ball and get on the job. Can you make that happen? Things went very smoothly. Phil was extremely timely with getting out to the house to estimate and very good about quickly following through with his estimate. Phil was good to call and schedule the repair date. His crew showed up promptly and took care of the job in short order and followed up with a full report. I would strongly recommend them.

Phil was great. Extremely responsive, kept us informed the whole way, and did a quality job. No more leaks. When asked to come back for another job, gave good advice that resulted in no work being done; but, was more than willing to put in the time. He asked about our kids, and had a good time interacting with them, which as a parent knows, is much appreciated. I would absolutely use Duffy (and Phil) again.
