I did not observe the work in progress, and could only observe the results. The workers arrived at the day and time specified, and performed the work as outlined by Phillip Buswell. Since there were still plenty of leaves left to fall from the trees surrounding the house, Philip said he'd send someone back later to deal with the leaves which had accumulated in the gutters since the original clean-out.

They came on the day they said and spent two days, as they had estimated, to complete the job. We went out of town the day they started and returned to find a perfect job and the site perfectly cleaned up. The new gutters looked beautiful. Our neighbor, who observed the work, thought they were outstanding. This estimate was more than one other, but the design of the gutters, which have a backing metal sheet and a back lip higher than the front lip preventing water backing up into the house, sold me on this company.

Went fine. They gave us far and away the lowest estimate, and explained why they thought we didn't need the extra work that others were proposing to do.

They were very fast and professional. They responded quickly to my initial inquiry, gave an estimate only a few days later, began work in less than a week, and the job was done over the course of two days. The did a good job of cleaning up after themselves.

Fine. Phil's not afraid to give his opinion on extraneous matters, like the fact that you may have a dish on your roof, but you're not hiring the company for its personnel's personality. The initial estimate came down after I made clear we were getting other estimates. The first time Phil was supposed to show up he did not, and we only rescheduled after I called (not him). Communication was poor. I was promised the crew would show up on Tuesday/Wednesday but when I called on Monday to confirm I had to wrench out of them when they were going to show up, which ended up being on Thursday. I was glad I was home to supervise because it looked the crew was ready to go before I pointed out they didn't appear to have fixed one of the main problems I called about. I think they did a fine job. The gutters don't leak anymore but you have to work at it.

Within 24 hours of sending a request through their web page, I received a call from Joe Duffy. He was out to our house within a couple of days. And quoted us a fair price did the work professionally and well. They were quick, pleasant and did an excellent job.

Joe Duffy was very prompt in getting us a detailed estimate, after doing a thorough evaluation of the entire roof, gutters and chimneys. The rear part of the roof (which was leaking) was a difficult area to due to tight access, multiple dormers/skylights, was considerably older than front part of roof, and apparently had not been done correctly in the first place. Joe explained his recommendations in great detail, was very patient while we secured bids from other contractors (both for roofing, and chimney & gutter work), and scheduled / performed the work very promptly. His was not the lowest bid (nor the highest), but the scope of the work he did was more comprehensive, so price was competitive. Joe's a perfectionist, but is realistic and accommodating in working within budget constraints. He'll tell you what you can defer or economize on (if necessary) and what you shouldn't, and if you're not entirely satisfied, he'll work with you until you are. Great job!

They got back with us immediately after our initial contact which was very helpful. They explained everything in great detail & they gave us two options. One option was to install a new skylight & the second option was to seal the opening by re-shingling the roof. Phil Buswell was the person who made the initial callback to us, gave us an estimate and a starting date which they honored. He was very polite & answered all of our questions. The owner's son was the one who did the work. He was very courtesy, very expeditious & finished the work with in a few hours. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience with this company.

Phil Buswell came out and looked the job over and made some very helpful suggestions about the leaky gutter which would not cost me a lot of money. The roof on the front side had four layers of roofing tile that needed to be replaced plus a new gutter. We also decided to remove an old awning over the front door. Phil's crew did a great job. It looks great. There were some minor adjustments that had to be made to the gutters after installation which Phil had done quickly. The whole experience was great and painless. The crew cleans up and is very fast. The roof was up in a few hours. Phil was very good about returning calls and answering all questions. I would definitely call them again for any roofing needs.

Although we'd asked for a quote last November, Phil got back to us quickly when we called, came out and re-reviewed the job, and we had a crew on the job very soon after. The crew worked on a tough site (the house is on a hill, and some of the facades front on rock or the hill itself). They were polite, as quiet as could be with power tools, and took care not to harm the perennial beds. They even removed a nest of squirrel babies from the eaves, and put them in a quiet place where the mother soon removed them to new lodgings. The clean-up was reasonably thorough. We've just have a day of steady/sometimes heavy rain, and the gutters seem to have performed beautifully.

Called to schedule visit once, company was a no show. Called back to reschedule, company took name and number and never called back.

I sought out Duffy Roofing even though Angie's List indicated our new home was out of their normal service area. I felt having a contractor experienced with slate work, flat roofing and gutters would be most efficient. In particular, preserving the beautiful slate pattern was very important to us and would only feel comfortable with experts touching this. After speaking with Phil Buswell of Duffy, he visited the house, assessed all the work, discussed several ways to approach the projects and provided detailed and in my opinion reasonable price quote. The Duffy crews showed up with SWAT team precision. One team worked on gutters, another installed a black modified bitumen rubber on the unseen flat roofs, while veteran slaters, including Mr. Duffy, replaced 50+ bad slates with properly color matched newer slates, cutting the slates as needed to match the existing pattern. Mr. Duffy also put his experience hands to copper flashing/trims to complement the bay window roof work. Thanks!

My husband indicated the company was fantastic. They completed the work, discussed the issues surrounding the original installation (by another company) and were extremely professional and friendly.

Absolutely outstanding service. Our call was answered and Phil immediately started putting together the information we needed. WOW. He was great - a fantastic attitude that let us know his top concern was making sure we got what we wanted and needed. He spent a lot of time with us, working late and weekend hours. He even called us on his cell while he was away for the weekend and got access to a computer to send us important information in time for our deadline - even though we had told him that we would not be using his services because the house deal was falling through! I am absolutely going to use Duffy for the next roofing job I have. Even though they did not do the repairs for me this time around, it was clear that Phil had a great knowledge of the industry and available products, and that Duffy is oriented toward doing quality work at reasonable prices.

Phil was a pleasure to work with. He came to see our job very soon after our first call and got a contract to us right away. We were not looking for a discount gutter job, but for a quality one---so the fit was good. Phil took note of a few extra items my wife wanted to have attended, and saw that they were handled. He went to great lengths to ensure that the paint color was an exact match. Duffy did the entire job, where others would have required we engage carpenters and painters as well to complete things.

I would have to say I would give them a B rating in a few areas because of their price. It wasn't all that bad but I wasn't all that happy with it either. They had to work late to finish everything but I guess that is a good thing. My siding did turn out great.

Duffy Roofing did work on our neighbor's home and was recommended to us. We worked directly with Philip from Duffy through the whole process. He was on time, professional, and knowledgeable. Per our request, he gave us a couple of options in his estimate, one high, the other moderate. The crew of 6 showed up in 2 big trucks and were in and out very quickly, the work was done well. Philip scheduled a follow up review with us to inspect their work and ensure we were satisfied, again, showed up on time at 7:30 a.m. on a Saturday (our request, not his). Did I mention we have a slate roof that's 50+ feet high and extremely difficult to access? They broke one of the slate tiles doing their work, but had brought along a replacement just in case, all part of the job. I would absolutely recommend Duffy Roofing to anyone, they did a great job.

I called three roofers in my area and Phil from Duffy Roofing was the only one who returned my call. He made an appointment with me to evaluate job on a Saturday morning, showed up on time and he explained that since I had two layers of shingles already on roof, both layers needed to be stripped off and new 50 year shingles would be installed. Phil answered all my questions initially, provided me with his contact information and emailed a written quote and copy of insurance certificate to me the following Monday. I reviewed it and agreed to have Duffy Roofing replace my roof. Phil called me 24 hours in advance and told me Duffy crew and dumpster would arrive at 8am the following day, which they did. Joe Duffy accompanied the crew on day of job and I appreciated actually meeting the owner. Roof was replaced in one day as quoted, Duffy cleaned up entire worksite and overall I am very pleased with the quality of their work and would highly recommend Duffy Roofing to others in the future.

It went great. The company (we dealt with a guy named Phil Buswell) was extremely responsive from the first day we contacted them. They came out quickly to inspect the roof, offered a detailed estimate shortly thereafter via email, and even offered to come to our condo meeting to address all unit owners. We got a few estimates, but it was clear Duffy was the most responsive company. They did the work in two days, took care of all the permitting, and explained at every step what they were doing. The roof looks great, and they even came back to touch up a few spots that weren't technically part of the new roof. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a major roofing job.

Joe Duffy came by to give us an estimate; unfortunately, they do not do the type of trim work that we wanted. However, the service we got on the estimate and the advice that we received was exemplary. Their price seemed a bit high.

I had also spoken to an IKO representative, in CANADA where the product is manufactured, who specifically pointed out exactly WHAT should be in the ROOFING contract and I was simply following her suggestions when I was inquiring about this with PHIL from DUFFY. But Phil made me feel like I was a dummy. He also seemed to resent the fact that my husband included my input on this important and financially significant decision we were about to make regarding our roof. I am happy to report that we eventually found another company (on Angie's List) who satisfied all of our concerns and signed a contract with a 100% fool proof, extended warranty for 12 years. Phil from DUFFY was insulting, totally obnoxious and I would NEVER, I repeat NEVER, EVER use his roofing company under any circumstances!!!!

Joe Duffy arrived on-site for a quote which he was able to write up at the same time. He reviewed materials to be used. He produced insurance certificate and license (and I didn't even have to request them). Since the job was estimated to take the crew only a day or two we didn't have a fixed start date. We'd get a slot in-between jobs. The crew were on site within a couple of weeks and the job was done in one day. The job site was left perfectly clean. We requested to keep some of the old slates and they were left in a neat stack. The whole experience makes me say 'Why can't it always be this easy?'!

We called Duffy after a bad experience with another roofer. Joe was on time, pleasant, and after checking out the situation, gave us a realistic description of the work involved-which was not a simple job. He seemed very knowledgeable about the issues involved, and gave us options when they were available. He always made it clear that while he would do it right, he understood the importance of keeping the work affordable. His crew worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves. The job came in at the price that was quoted, and Joe was very easy to deal with. In general, I would highly recommend Duffy, especially when dealing with issues that are not run of the mill.

Their response to the initial phone call wasn't super-prompt, and they didn't check with neighbors about leaving ladders in their yard (our houses are very close together), but other than that, the work was done very promptly. When we signed the contract, they were very friendly, professional, and we're very pleased with the work.

We faxed Duffy a signed contract on a Thursday, and the roof was finished by the end of the following Thursday. The actual work was finished in under two days, and the huge dumpster full of the old roof was removed by the end of the third. The roof looks good and shows no signs of leaking. There was some minor debris left around the yard, and Duffy cracked a storm window, which they are in the process of replacing. Overall, I am very pleased with the job. Duffy arrived when he said, did the work quickly, and the roof looks good.
