Called for estimate for roofing. Gave me a very high estimate had to call them multiple times before I did recive it.

Arrived 8:00 AM-ish, noticed they were gone about 2:00PM. Noisy when getting their materials up on the roof, otherwise, I barely noticed they were here (I work at home and am on the phone most of the time). Phil was great, explained everything, answered all questions. I would have these guys back in a heartbeat.

Great! They arrived and left in one day! Amazing!

They have a good communications person - Phil - who stays on top of things and is very responsive. The culture of the company appears to be customer-oriented and responsive. Glad we had the opportunity to work with them.

Contractor was responsive for first year (2009) however, the price quoted was the highest of the five estimates. Higher than the other four by about $2,500 for gutter replacement. Due to the high ratings on Angie's List I decided to contact the contractor again for a complete roof replacement estimate after the early April rains. Contractor was fast to call back, was not happy that I did not select him in 2009, but offered to provide an estimate since I am part of Angie's list. It is now 8 weeks later and I still have not heard back from Duffy's Roofing.

They were great. Gave us an estimate on the spot and thoroughly explained what they were going to do. They came to do the work within a week or so. The work was great...workers were polite, knowledgable and careful...they even fixed some things on the roof free of charge while they were up there. I would use these guys again for roofing.

We were very satisfied. Phil is professional, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about all things relating to roofs and roofing. The job was done promptly and carefully by obviously skilled workmen. This is the first time that Duffty has worked on our roof and gutters, and Phil's follow-up report on their current condition was thoughtful and honest. We were very happy with all aspects of the job and will be using Duffy in the future.

A representative came and gave me an estimate. This is the only company that suggested putting shingles over the existing shingles (already two layers). Even with this plan, the price far exceeded other estimates. I found the representative to be inflexible and pushy. I decided to go with another company.

The process was great. Joe Duffy is a very pleasant guy who takes the time to get to know you. It's a multi-generation Milton family business, and they are clearly in it for the long haul. My only issue with Duffy is I've gotten bids (and given work to others since working with them) and Duffy's prices were very, very high in comparison. Some will see this as a "you get what you pay for" kinda thing.

I sent an email, and he got back to me via my cell phone number. We're on opposite sides of Boston and he was forthcoming about the extra charges that would be involved if he came to do my job. I didn't get the sense that he didn't want the work, but rather that he could do the work and it might cost me more than if I found someone nearer to my house. It was a fair assessment, and I appreciated it.

It was well done in a timely fashion. I would use this company again.

Phil replied quickly to my email inquiry and was able to give me an estimate very soon after as an Angie's list member. He was very good at explaining all of the work to be done. The Duffy family and staff were able to deliver great service and quality for our historic house. They were very professional and went above and beyond, e.g., matching the slate color and/or switching the tiles from the back of the house, and correcting the poor quality of work from the previous slate roofer. I haven't had any roof leaks in the attic since these repairs after another winter and much rainfall. I would use this company again and recommend them. When I see other slate roofs with light and dark colors, I think they should have used Duffy!

Excellent attention to detail and communication. Took pride in quality of service. Genuinely wanted us to be satisfied with our experience, and we are. We would not hesitate to recommend them to our friends and family, and would certainly use them again.

Initially it took 4 phonecalls to speak to someone about coming out to do an estimate. The women at the "switchboard" is most unhelpful and unreliable in taking messages. It was only after emailing them did I get a response. Then, after waiting longer for the quote than they originally said they would take, their response was, one of our guys is injured, so we can't do the work. So, are they just planning on shutting down Duffy Roofing? It has taken almost 2 weeks so far just to try and get 3 quotes, and now I still have to find another roofing company to do a quote. What a total waste of time!

We had several leaks in our asphalt shingle roof including consistent leaks every time it rained, and ice damming in the winter. We also had a leak in a rubber roof that was installed by another roofer about 2 years ago. I had two other roofing companies come out before Duffy roofing and they both told me my roofs (both the shingle and the rubber) looked good and they didn't know where the leaks were coming from but they would replace patches of the roof. When Duffy roofing came out, they were prompt, thorough (he was the only one to actually climb out to see the roof up close), and he was able to diagnose the problem right away. Work was completed in the time frame that he gave us ( 20 days--it was the end of the fall season). They completed the work in one day and when I got home from work there was no trace of them, except for a beautiful roofing job. All debis was cleaned up. I was motivated to write this report now because we have had several days of torrential rains and we had not a drop of water into the house. I highly recommend Duffy roofing !

Everything went fine. I was informed all the way from the estimate , to the permit, to the completion No surprises everything up front. Would highly recommend them.

Scheduled time for them to come by and the never showed up.

Very well. We had some scheduling delays, either caused by weather or by my vacation schedule, (but not due to anything Duffy did). I told Ed: " I don't want to hire a roofer again, so do whatever needs to be done so the roof outlives me". I now feel confident that this is the case.

I wasn?t happy with them at all. Their quote was high and they promised me the best work ever. They didn?t come through. The salesperson blamed us for getting involved, but that wasn?t the case. They came back twice to fix things. The second time they promised to make a repair, but it didn?t work. They tried to appease me and were very abrupt with me. The work took several months to complete.

Last year, Duffy Roofing expertly re-pointed our old and elaborate chimney, so we were well disposed to consider them for this project. Our house, a large Queen Anne Victorian, was built circa 1893. All of the gutters, so far we can tell, were the original wooden gutters, and in poor repair. As well, some of the fascia behind the gutters had rotted. The system generally was distressed. As he had last year, Phil Buswell assessed our needs with an expert eye; he spent plenty of time with me, examining the house and explaining what would need to be done. Joe Duffy, the owner of the company, also visited the site on both of the actual workdays. Like the crew-members (Bob was crew chief), Joe was pleasant and highly professional, taking an obvious interest in doing a good job. Everyone involved with this project clearly enjoyed the work, and took initiative in completing our job in the best way they could. Bob, for example, took special care to make sure the end-points of the new gutters--that is, where a gutter-end comes up against a set of shingles---blended smoothly at junctions with the house. He also did the same with the decorative pediment over our front steps, cleaning up a deteriorated corner so that its junction with the gutter is now seamless. As well, Phil took the initiative in having that pediment scraped and painted in the first place. He was also very particular that the new, brown gutters---and all the new aluminum covering the fascia---match the existing color. He was careful to let us know how things were progressing, and to inform our neighbors of when and how Duffy Roofing would be setting up ladders on their driveway. After assessing the drainage patterns on our roof, Duffy Roofing added a new drainpipe at the front porch, and replaced our old wooden baffles with new metal ones. The entire job was done quickly and quietly. The crew was courteous and hard working. If I had to sum up the quality of the work in one sentence: Both my partner and I have a hard time even telling that our 116-year house now has a completely new set of gutters.

Mr. Duffy called primarily to let me know that I might do better if I were to connect with a siding company or general contractor rather than his firm. He was very honest, helpful and professional, and because of that, I will be contacting him next spring for a large gutter replacement project for the whole house.

Aside from some communication challenges early in the enquiry (emails not getting through) the response was excellent. once engaged they showed up and gave a quote promptly. They showed up for the job when they said they would and completed the work in a fast and efficient manner. Gave a "good" on quality as I don't know with certainty that all issues are resolved until it rains! They have assured that if we see any leaking that they will come back and address any issues. I feel very confident though that they have done a thorough job. Given the complex nature of a slate roof, the price appeared reasonable and we were not given the "you need to replace the whole roof" pitch. The job took longer than expected because the previous owners had not kept up with the ongoing maintenance required of an old slate roof. Nonetheless, though the slate replacement was much greater than had been allowed for in the quote, they still only charged for the original price. Phil gave an overall evaluation of the roof (over 100 yrs old) and advice on how to stretch the life with ongoing maintenance. He also checked some other trouble spots and patched a clapboard to eliminate another leak at no extra cost. He also discussed the various alternatives for full roof replacement from asphalt and artificial to real slate,along with the cost implications and longevity for all. We were very satisfied with Duffy roofing and would vertainly engage them again.
